Let's be real, Lebron isn't not coming to a perpetually losing franchise for the past 30 years and counting or whatever. He is the kind of guy that would make fun of our team and he isn't leaving Cleveland, its his home town and who else ever gets to represent there home town in the NBA.

Heck, Brand ditched us just so he could be close to his hometown.

Here is my best backup plan. Forget Rudy Gay, they will match. Forget Joe Johnson, he isn't going anywhere especially when Atlanta can offer an extra year.

My best idea is to pick up David Lee in free agency to play center and open the bidding for Kaman and see what we could get. If nothing good comes out of it, we would still have a player that could back up Kaman and Griffin and give us strength in the front court and another trade chip.

I think I would offer Kaman for Monti Ellis. We need a go to guy desparetly.

wow can't wait to see that team on the court...NOT! really david lee at center and bring in ellis for what? for sg? we have ej. for pg? haha baron won't be too happy behind his former teammate. oh and he can't play pg. plus, the W's rejected mayo + thabeet for ellis so they wouldn't say yes to kaman for him. lastly, that would be worst defensive team in NBA history.

Also, i don't agree at all that rudy gay will be matched most likely.

^^^ Good post Yaroslav... Also the Warriors have Beidrins... Many teams could use Kaman and would like to have him, but the Warriors aren't one of them.

Rudy Gay will almost certainly be matched unless somebody gives him max money that he's not worth. Can you imagine having a team with Gay, Kaman and Baron making 40-million?

First off, how many different threads do we need for the summer of 2010? Do we have a dedicated thread for that yet?

Next, this is going to be the biggest summer ever, or at least one of the biggest ever. People have talked about this summer for the past 3 years, and it seems every single week there are new big rumors. LeBron to the Clips? Larry Brown to Coach the Clips? Well, as of now, LeBron is in the running for a ring THIS year, and Larry Brown has his team fighting for their first ever playoff birth since the Bobcats became a franchise. The Clippers are not a part of their season right now, other than the fact that we play the Bobcats tomorrow. Lets keep in mind almost 99% of what we hear right now probably might not amount to anything.

Lastly, and more important than this speculation every week, is a draft lottery and draft that takes place, which could potentially change the summer of 2010 for a lot of teams, including us. If we get the 1st or 2nd pick and guarantee ourselves a big time player in Wall or Turner, that changes the summer big time! Lets say we get Wall- doesnt it make sense to unload baron then and maybe not go after LeBron? Getting that 1st or 2nd pick might mean it is a good idea to definitely go young- a la OKC Thunder- and take a few years worth of great drafts picks and start to develop quickly. If Durant, Westbrook and Jeff Green can take a team as far as they have in a few years, I really think Griffin, Gordon and Wall or Turner could prove to make this a winner quickly.

Bottom line for me is- the draft comes first for the NBA and might have a huge impact on things for the summer.

And one other note- depending on how this whole LeBron chooses his GM and Coach thing works out- if we dont get him, we need an official coach and GM before we make any moves to bring in guys cuz it would be nice to figure out what type of identity we want our team to have going forward.

We do need a realistic plan. Expecting to get a high pick is ridiculous. Finding a good player to buy and making a trade sound realistic to me. As much as Kaman has improved, I think it is time to go in a different direction. Blake is our core guy and we should build around what kind of team we think will maximize his talents. Baron will fit him because fo his passing ability. Gordon will fit because of his shooting and athleticism. Kaman does not fit an uptempo system and all three of these players do better in one. However, we do need another go to guy. We need a franchise player to compliment.

The only player I can think of in the history of in the historyof the game to win a championship without another star was Hakeem Olajuwan.

I'd say we role the dice and offer Baron, Eric Gordon, minesota's pick for Chris Paul. Then I offer Dwane Wade a contract. Good plan or wishful thinking.

You call expecting a high draft pick ridiculous and then suggest we trade for Chris Paul? Oh I get it, you are good naturely ribbing me right? They are not trading Chris Paul for anybody! Especially not for any deal including Baron Davis. If we trade Baron, we are not gonna get anything useful out of it except maybe an expiring contract to use before the trade deadline. As for the pick, it's unlikely we get Wall or Turner, but it would be nice to move up to atleast 7th or 8th to have a shot at Aminu or Wesley Johnson, they fill our need at small forward. Those 2 have tons of potential and it's a pretty big drop off with any small forwards after them. We have talented youth at shooting guard, power forward and center. There are no great point guard after Wall, so small forward is a perfect fit. We are only 1.5 games up on the 8th spot. It's all about the future!

I think the best thing we can do for ourselves is move somewhere back East. The Western conference is just crazy. Portland is 12 games above .500 and is only the 8th seed! Unreal.

From BaronOwnsLAon the ESPN boards

from Sporting News

The Clippers will go after Lebron James. If that doesn't go well, they will then go after either Stoudamire or Bosh. Bosh wants to be in the film industry and where better else than in Los Angeles.

I think this is the best option for us after LeBron. This way we can move Kaman for a SF and this summer turns into upgrading two positions instead of one.

We could also land Bosh in a sign and trade where Kaman goes back to Toronto. The Raptors are supposedly open to doing a sign and trade with Bosh so they don't lose him for nothing. If we were to do this we would land Bosh and still have about 12 million to spend.

Prince would be the most likely scenario if we just signed Bosh outright. The Pistons already had interest in Kaman and Prince was the offer.

The dream scenario would be to move Kaman for Bosh and then have the 12 million to spend. We then throw a fat contract at Gay.

Baron, Gordon, Gay, Griffin, and Bosh sounds amazing... but to good to be true.
