Repped High Quality Post

remaining schedules for other tanking teams:

(parenthesis) = number of games below us

detroit (2) - @ mia, @ cha, vs TOR, @ min (1-3)

philly (1)- vs mil, @ mem, vs mia, @ orl (0-4)

sacramento (2)- vs dal, vs hou, @ lal (1-3)

gsw (3)- @ lac, vs okc, vs utah, @ por (1-3)

wizards (3) - @ bos, vs atl, @ ny, vs indy (1-3)

clippers - vs GSW, vs DAL, vs LAL

by the looks of it we can MAYBE move down to a tie with philly for the 7th spot. most of the remaining games for all teams involved are against playoff teams, so they're gonna be tough to win. on the other hand, there's a possibility some of those teams whose seeds are pretty much locked are gonna be resting starters for the playoffs. (see: orlando, charlotte, lakers). best case scenario is we end up with the 3rd slot, but that's not gonna happen. (and then trade the pick if its not turner or wall).

and yeah, its pathetic im interested in this.

my projected finish:

1.new jersey

2.minnesota

  1. golden state

  2. washington

  3. philly (tanking worse than us)

  4. sacramento

  5. detroit

  6. clippers

  7. new york

  8. indiana

  9. new orleans

  10. toronto

  11. memphis

  12. houston

who to root for tonight (4/9/2010):

philly over milwaukee

knicks over orlando

wizards over boston

indy over cleveland

detroit over miami

^^^ I don't think its pathetic. A higher draft choice is really all we have to root for at this point. But I agree with you that our chances of moving up beyond the 7th spot are pretty slim.

I will be happy if we get between the 3 and 5 spot. We were 4th last year and got the first pick.

I just hope this years draft is as much of a pleasant surprise as last years. I remember everyone saying how bad it was except for Griffin.

Detroit has won 3 in a row, maybe they can win another game or two. Also if Philly gets lucky and wins one more, we can be tied for 6, but that's a best case scenario. Most likely I see the clippers in the 7th spot ahead of Detroit, but behind Philly. The freakin Kings tanked on purpose, couples weeks ago, I thought they would pass us in the standings for sure. We were 3 back of them, played them twice plus they had an easy schedule. Then they go and lose to the Nets and the Wolves in the same week. Anything better than 7th, I'll be ecstatic!

Realistically, we are looking at the 7th spot. Which is not bad but i'd rather have the 6th spot. Phili just isn't doing much right now for me to see us being ahead of them. C'mon Kings, you guys can win 3 more. Keep rolling Detroit.

Our best case for the draft would be if Sacramento gets the top pick and we get second... they don't need Wall... We can get him at second.

I will also accept any number of moves that would bring Rubio to LA.

DAMB! That is a really good idea. Would they go for that? I think there is a really high chance now that they have 11 pgs 2 centers and a water boy.

Kings would pick Wall if they get the 1st pick, then move tyreke over to the 2 guard. Also, we can't get the 4th 5th 6th... Pick unless thats were we stand record wise. The lottery is for the top 3 picks then it goes in order of losing record. As for Rubio, he was a projected #2 pick, so I don't see Minni trading him for their pick unless it's 2012 and they still suck(which they probably will) and it's projected as a strong draft. If we want that trade now, we will have to add something else, maybe money, maybe a 2nd rounder, it's hard to know for sure.

dag gummit we won. Evil or Very Mad

what we needed to happen (4/10/10):

indy over new jersey - yes

wizards over atlanta - no

detroit over charlotte - no

philly over memphis - yes

kings over dallas - no

warriors over clippers - no

so philly knocks off memphis, giving us a chance to tie them for the 7th. for whatever reason we decide to win on a night when most of our players were out. still can catch detroit for the 6th spot (we lose two, they win two) and philly's still in reach for the 7th since they're one game away.

updated lottery standings:

  1. new jersey 12-68

  2. minnesota 15-64

  3. golden state 24-55

  4. wizards (tie) 25-55

  5. sacramento (tie) 25-55

  6. detroit 26-54

  7. philly 27-53

  8. clippers 28-52

  9. new york 28-51

  10. indy 32-48

  11. new orleans 35-45

  12. chicago/toronto 38-41

  13. memphis 40-40

  14. houston 41-38

who to root for (4/11/10)

knicks over miami

portland over lakers lol (a first round preview. time to set the tone)

and be sure to watch the match for the 8th seed. chicago @ toronto. pretty much winner takes all.

I was at the game last night. People were looking at me funny cause I was wearing a Clippers Jersey but cheering for GSW at the end. I was pissed, we were one Pistons win away from 6th worst record. Instead we are tied for 8th. If we owned the 6th worst record, it would give you a semi decent shot at one of the top 3 spots aka Wall or Turner, but sitting on the 8th spot, Probably not.

I was at the game last night too. Manny, you and I are from different worlds. In my world, there is pride and I would never root for a loss to 'gain' a higher pick. In your world, losers 'win'; hope we never meet. And no true Clipper fan would want you on his/her team.

Well 7th seed here we come. The team has nothing but pride to play for yet they have been laying down like a dog for weeks and then all of a sudden wake up to win when they might as well have lost. I'm glad they won a game but they royally screwed up their lottery chances. Even when we win, we still lose.

im with manny. hence, the reason i created this thread.

i have pride in getting in position for a potentially higher pick. an insignificant win against a d-league GSW team with most of our players out brings me no joy. on the other hand, if i was a coach of a little league team and they were in the same position, then yeah, id agree with laknights.

^^^I can imagine taking solace in a loss by looking at lottery positioning. But to actively root against your team (while at a game no less) doesn't jibe with me at all and I don't understand how anyone can do that.

Count me in as a fan who also wanted the extra ping pong balls. There was nothing satisfying about the win last night. It was just downright ugly and in the end it would've been better to lose this game to gain a better position in the lottery. Great, we beat a Warriors team who were essentially throwing out a D-League squad out there. Nothing to brag about. We gained nothing out of this win, except a lower draft pick. This team can't even lose right.

People complain about Deandre Jordan not getting any playing time.

DJ plays big minutes and performs well in a win last night, people are still complaining.

Confused

its funny, i tivoed the GSW game and watched it later. hold up, im not gonna lie, i actually fast-forwarded it to about 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter. when novak hit a three i instinctively clapped my hands but then realized the situation that we were extending a lead. then devean george missed a bunch of easy layups and i got frustrated. its not that i wasnt upset that we won, but more so upset that we had a chance to move up with philly's loss.

so i wasnt actively rooting against the clippers, its difficult for me to do. you're right, its 100% betrayal. i was just hoping we'd play well as a team, see some bright things from deandre, keep it close till the very end, and hopefully lose it with nothing to be sorry about. seriously, losses at this point mean nothing to me. hell, they mean squat to kim hughes. i just want to see them play like they want to be there and execute well. right now its just a glorified practice. we have nothing more to gain.

^^^ Yeah, I'm not actively rooting against them. However, it does not bother me one iota if they lose. In fact, so long as some teams worse than us win, I do get somewhat happy.

The NBA should consider doing what MLS does with the playoffs. They take the top teams with the best records and move them from conference to conference . Last year Salt lake City won the championship by becoming the forth playoff team in the east, because they had a better record than DCU to complete east's two pair playoff.

In the NBA , with today's records, Houston would move to the east to replace Chicago.

HaHaHaHa! Your are funny! Pride? In what? Getting to 28 wins? What good does that do? You know nothing about being a true fan. Did you know that the 6th worst record gives the Clippers 63 combination in the lottery as opposed to 28 for the 8th worst? Did you know that the biggest need next season is at small forward and the 3 best players that can fill that void(Turner,Aminu,W. Johnson) are all projected to be gone by the 6th or 7th pick? Did you know that the win last night was meaningless cause we aren't making the playoffs and only 3 players that played are guaranteed to play for the Clippers next season. Have you been following 6 other teams just to know where the Clippers stand in the lottery at the moment?

I can see the BIG PICTURE! I'm 10 times the fan you will ever be! If we can land a John Wall or Evan Turner and bring him in with Blake Griffin, we can be one of the youngest most exciting teams in the league. We would have young stars at every position. We would finally be able to shake off that image of being one of the worst franchises in all of sports that you are so proud of! You won't have to be proud of being laughed at anymore.

I hope we do meet some day so I can inform you and open your eyes to what a true smart Clipper fan is!

whats up fellow MLS fan.

yeah the crazy thing about it is that the MLS is still hooked on the American system by even utilizing conferences. there's absolutely no point to it and therefore they'll most likely be switching to a single table as soon as next year. hell, the NBA should implement a relegation system. worst team in the NBA gets demoted to the NBADL and the best team in the NBADL gets promoted to the NBA. prevents tanking, makes late season games for horrible teams much more exciting.

oh. wait, nevermind. we'd get screwed.

back to reality. there's no need for divisions in the NBA. keep it simple. western conference and eastern conference. pacific division races are pointless.

clipboard, i like the idea but the problem i see with it is that the lower seeded western conference team potentially gets to advance in a weak eastern conference playoff tournament, while the stronger teams in the west get no such benefit and instead have to slug it out amongst themselves. its a flawed system, imo.

Guys- please stop telling each other who's a better fan and who's worse.. That's the last thing we need right now. I know frustration levels are high cause it's "that time of season" again where we go home and don't play in the playoffs but we're all Clipper fans. Regardless of if we want wins or losses right now, we're still the best fans in the league.

The single league would work now, they had the conferences back when the western teams were new and not yet competitive with the more established east.

The Hollywood LepersD team would be fun between NBA Clippers qualification seasons.

Everybody makes the playoffs, and the first round is a 3 game series, next round is 5, and last rounds are 7.

Xavier Henry is still a possibility so is a trade with minnesota. I'm sure they will yet again hoard all the point guards in the draft and be more than willing to trade them
