I know we all have been speculating who we are gonna pick, and what coach is going to come here, and what FAs we should get and maybe what sign and trades we could do. But throughout this beginning of the offseason, has anyone else gotten the feeling there is something more that is really going on behind the scenes? And that something can either be extremely good or extremely bad.

If anyone has noticed, all people (and by people i mean like all the writers like that of clippersblog and many others) have been talking about is information we already know, without basically giving their critique on what the Clippers should do or even critiquing what the clippers are doing and presenting us the fans with any new information that we cant find out ourselves through online sources.

If you are like me and follow the buzz surrounding the clippers, it seems like the only new piece of information we have gotten in the past like couple months was that Sterling was taking heat from Stern for the Dunleavy incident and that another guy named David Geffin was trying to coerce Sterling into selling the team to him. Now im guessing the Geffin thing is long gone and Sterling has told him not a chance by now, but the question is there something else going on that we dont know that is related to Sterling taking heat from Stern or even the coaches union?

It is very weird that even writers that have close ties and ins within the Clipper organization and nothing is being written about other than some overviews of Wes J and Aminu and telling us who we are working out and what the summer league schedule is going to be like. I feel like even at this point last year, we didnt have as much to do in the offseason and there was more editorials and opinion articles that gave us some insight to what the Clippers FO was doing and what they might be looking at. Does anyone have this feeling as well or am I just going crazy?

You're totally crazy...

j/k lol

We pretty much are in the dark this year.

Last year we knew that the majority of the roster would be back (10 players returned) with the exception being one of our bigs, since we were adding Blake. We didn't even have much to talk about with the draft, because it was a unanimous decision. We lost 3 assistant coaches in Eyen, Meyer & White, but they were replaced with Lucas & Brown.

This year, we don't have a head coach. We only have 5 players under contract. We can't really do anything about adding players to the roster until July 8th. I don't like not knowing who the coach is or if the Clippers are even doing their due diligence in the search. I can only hope. The only thing we have going for us fans this year is that the Clippers have done a better job with the Draft Central section of their website. We at least know who has worked out with us. We really don't know who we're leaning with, but we are in a tricky spot given our current roster make up.

Things should pick up as the draft approaches. We are currently only 8 days away from adding 2 new faces to roster and hopefully a coach soon after. Then there is almost a week before we can begin to see how the free-agent market will shape up. Try to stay encouraged. There should be plenty to talk about in the next couple of weeks.

Just know that we will chase a number of big name FA's after July 1st, hire a new head coach and gm(maybe).

What's going on is Nuttin' Honey

AS above no coach, Isn't Owsley "interim" GM? No team and a Rookie franchise player. Blake's injury killed us. If he'd had a great season a good FA would be a lot more likely BUT---

We have a +/- SG in EJ. Baron WILL step up if he has the players. If not I'll wear a Kobe jersey. Kaman will be better. I'm not looking for anything spectacular but this is the CLIPPERS

Usually, the Clippers win in the off-season... Last year, we got the # 1 pick by now and knew we had BG... Then we won again on draft night when Griffin showed up and seemed to even be happy about playing for the Clippers... We had a coach in place who was also GM and seemed to know what he wanted to build.

This year, none of that is in place. We lost the coin flip. We have the # 8 pick when by most measures, there are 5 players in the draft, then a lot of could-be players... We have no coach and a GM who doesn NOT inspire confidence. The fact that we haven't hired a coach for one of two reasons alluded to by Clipper management 1) Let Lebron choose his coach 2) We want out draft pick in place before hiring a coach... Well, both are idiotic answers. 1) A coach would be crucial in enticing Lebron to come here. Not having a coach shows desperation. 2) Picking at # 8 means we're taking a player who might fit one system, but not another. Are we going to be a running team or a half court team... To me, the difference could mean selecting Aminu or Babbit or George (who can do a little of both). Not having a coach to influence who we pick is not as asset.

Then, add Sterling not paying Dunleavy, which seems to be going a couple steps backward from the DTS who has said he'll do what it takes and spend what he has to to make this team a winner... This doesn't inspire confidence...

All in all, this off-season so far has been the worst we've had in years.

i agree that we have a lot of uncertainty, which is quite frustrating at this point. but didn't we win this years coin flip? not that it is crucial all in all, but its at least quite important in the draft?

Last years' offseason did provide a bit more certainty. The consolation was that we at least had the number one overall pick, whom everyone felt was the next coming of Tim Duncan. This year we are not so fortunate because we have the eigth pick. Even the fact that Griffin is coming back is not that reassuring. WE are now faced with the possibility that this kid could be injury prone, so some of us are not as confident on our future as we were last year. The Dunleavy scenario was mercurial. As a coach he definitely did have to get fired, but as a general manager this was the guy that drafted really well and brought in some very high profile free agents over the years. Unless we replace Dunleavy with someone as competent or better at the general manager position then we are in for a world of hurt. None of us really have any way to measure Neil Olsheys' basketball I.Q., so we don't really know what to expect. However, with Dunleavy at least we knew that our draft pick would be a lock since he had done such a great job picking talent.

I still have hope that at the eigth spot we can pick a sleeper. I am reminded of last years draft where eveyone said that there was one good player in the draft (Blak Griffin), and a bunch of could-be players. How wrong all the experts were. That draft produced Tyreke Evans, Brandon Jennings, Darren Collison, Stephen Curry, and a handful of others that were available after the first five picks, so I still have hope that we can land a quality player. I do agree with you that not having a coach by now is the wrong way to go about it. We missed out on Tom Thibedau, and are likely going to lose out on Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy, and the remaining quality coaches if we let more time slip by.

Bingo! Sterlings refusal to pay dunleavy was a grave mistake. He undid all the good from the past four years, in which he actually ponied up money to resign Chris Kaman, and go after high profile free agents like Baron Davis thereby rebutting any claims that he was a penny pincher and would never pay for free agents. Now his reputation as a miser will continue. Who will want to coach for an owner that will not pay him.

We did win the coinflip.

Someone posted on Clipperblog that Colin Cowherd said on his morning talk show that Lebron and his people were seriously considering the Clippers. Has anybody heard anything about this?

Yeah i see that the only news we basically have gotten is all stuff that is stuff we could find out anywhere such as the coin flip....but what is with all the writers and ppl who find out what the clippers are doing and at least starting the rumors... I wonder if the clippers FO decided this year to do everything under super secrecy because last year the NBA basically shunned us for practically announcing who our pick was going to be on the day of the lottery. but is that wat is really going on? i wonder if the FO has told all media affiliates to keep everything on the DL or if there just really isnt anything to report. Its hard for me to think that there is really nothing going on, so that is what leads me to wonder, is there something big going on that the Clippers want to keep hush hush about? I kno no one here would really know what that would be but its just something to think about i guess.

I'm afraid there's no news because we are not doing anything. If Dunleavy were still here, I'd be thinking like you...Like something big is around the corner. Not much faith in Olshey or Roeser making any amazing moves....If we get something done in free agency, I think it will be because it fell in their laps.

Whether you liked Dunleavy or not, he had one thing going for him that no other Clipper GM or coach has ever had... He had the ability to move DTS off his pile of money. DTS actually spent money and appeared to be trying to win... That's clearly gone now. Olshey was a budget-based hire. No coach yet? I don't think anyone really believes that this an asset in the Lebron derby. It's just DTS saving a few months pay. Is DTS serious about trying to get Lebron? Of course. Who wouldn't be? Even at the NBA max, Lebron is an....

I whole-heartedly agree! Cliper Nation, BE PATIENT. We have one week until the draft and another week until FA begins. It would be foolishness for management to bail on the plan now, with 2 weeks to go.

I know the Lebron thing is a long shot, but we DO have a shot. Why change course now? What does that accomplish?

We have two weeks to go, Clipper Nation, be patient. I'm expecting the best. I'm banking that Neil O'Shey will do all he can. The absence of news should NOT BAD. Hang in there!

I really do think that we have a chance here at getting lebron..

Since the start they have said that this is the best team with capspace....

Lebron just wants to win a championship and this team is the best in position to do it...

just gotta hope and if we dont get him.. still believe that the 5 we have under contract would be able to get the job done...

When it comes to that stuff, I think we are looking at us having 2 options. We have a high risk approach that basically is us waiting the entire offseason for Lebron to decide and we dont pick a coach or even sign other players because we are just waiting with our money for lebron. Or we can actually interview coaches and pick up guys that might not be Lebron but are still very good players in this league that can really help us. Along with even some trades for guys like collison. Many of us i feel see these two options and recognize that the first one basically destroys any change we want them to build up this year if we dont land lebron because all we will be left with is table scraps. So the safest bet would be to actually start the interviewing processes and although make our pitch to lebron, we shouldnt just wait around for him to make our decisions on the offseason. Thats just my opinion tho cuz i dont want us to just wait around and sit on our hands while all the other FAs get picked up and all the coveted coaches are hired.

True, perhaps. But we cannot sign any of the other free agents until after July 1 anyway. Besides, Lebron will not wait the entire off season. I think he will make his decision quickly. If he wants a winner, he must give his new team time to re-load and fill holes. Why would he wait?

Also, remember, we are in the middle of the NBA finals. Two more days and that will be over too and people aound the country will stop talking about Kobe, Garnett and Pierce. If I wanted to make a big announcement, it would NOT be during the finals. Be patient Clipper Nation! The next two weeks are going to be huge! Hang in there!

True true on the timing... I think something is coming.

I agree with JC and feel that the clippers are suppressing information regarding the coaching search, the sale of the team and free agency.

Whether it's good (Geffen is negotiating for the team) or bad (The clippers are not for sale and they are being boycotted by all potential coaching candidates) something is going down in July.

I bet they told clippersblog to post but keep his knowledge and opinions to a minimum. All he does is post superfluous draft related info. Very unlike him.

Probably just LeBron doing some misdirection since many people (and I'm not talking about Ekker) already seem sure he's going to Chicago. He's just trying to make people think its not a done deal, when it really is.

I just seriously hope Lebron isn't going to Chicago. I would rather have him stay in Cleveland. The idea of the Lebron choosing the Bulls over us really irks me. We have a bigger market and better supporting team.

If we don't get Lebron it would be awesome to see D Wade, Bosh, and Lebron in Miami. That team would contend for the championship next year without question.

^^^ Yeah, if you have 2 of the 3 best players in the league on one team, regardless of who else is there, they better be competing for a championship or something is seriously wrong.

This offseason has been a joke. Nothing but workouts has been going on. The way the front office has handled the whole coaching situation is a recipe for disaster. I hope i'm wrong but this feels like another typical Clipper offseason to me.

just need a little patience. The only thing they haven't done that the couldve been doing is hiring a coach. But they said from the get go that they were waiting till after July 1st to sign a coach. If they had missed out on a great coache then I'd be mad, but that hasn't happened. I rather they take their time and get it right than to rush and mess it up. The draft is a week away, then the free agency is another week away. Things will start getting crazy soon enough. But this has not been a bad offseason, just a quiet one so far.

with the clipeprs, you always get an extreme, for bad or good. either olshey is jsut sitting there, having a beer everyday and not giving a shir, or something HUGE is going to go down either on draft night or july 1st-8th.
