iiiim back Wink

well well well here i am again our last season sucked....we traded my boi zach randolph(all star) for pennys. ..im sure the "less fortunate clipp fans" enjoyed that.but we got another rookie soo im sure everyones excited again...

Real clip fans understand these next 2 months will predict the next 2 years

so far we missed out on all the good free agents...thus again putting us in the same position as last 6 years in that WE NEED THAT SUPER STAR to take us over the hump...

so heres the REAL scenario's of what we MUST do!

  1. WE MUST GET RICHARD JEFFERSON!!!!........it is what it is..that spot(3) is our hole...and real clipps know RYAN GOMES wont hold it down....we must get him! 1 bad year with an anal team like the spurs means squat ...he would work well with the del negro system of 'NO PLAYS"

  2. TRADE AMINU WITH A PICK FOR ANY SUPERSTAR!!!! there is a lot of rumors out there that teams willing to let go of there stars WE MUST BE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT and frankly we need to BECOME LIKE THE LAKERS. CELTICS AND HEAT and bring stars to the ones we have!!! now the majority of the clipps fans willl say "WHAAAT..NOOO WAY DUUDE" but the majority also like to loose soooo real clipp fans would understand...no more developing!!

  3. THE BELOVED SCRUBS!!!! now this is the hardest cause it what makes a natural clipp fan....enjoying the recent add on of gomes, foye and cook should be alarming to normal clipp fans...especially foye and cook...its really just a joke...we need help!! REAL HELP not scrubs....if this is there way of filling up the gapping hole at the 3 ...by getting scrubs ...will be worst than last year

good pick up with the "systematic" negro...casey would have been a clueless disaster

Dude lol!

We missed out on ALL the good free agents eh? Yet you are pushing for a Richard Jefferson signing. He isn't good though considering you just said we missed out on all the good ones.

And how is Aminu + something else going to land us a superstar? Why do we need a Superstar when we, analysts, scouts, GM's, players all feel that Blake griffin is a superstar in the making? Why would we need one, if we have one on our roster already?

Memphis damn near went to the playoffs without a superstar. They did before without a superstar ( Im sorry but then and even now, Pau Gasol isnt considered a real "Superstar" ).

Teams can win without a superstar. A superstar if you want to boil it down is about 5-12 guys in the NBA usually all on different teams. These guys are clear cut winners, game breakers, leaders and your basic once in a lifetime players. IE - Lebron, Wade, Duncan, CP3, Nash etc. These guys mean more to their franchise than the team colors, uniforms and hot dogs they sell.

There aren't too many quality free agents left. Before July 1 Richard Jefferson was at the bottom of my list, but now I think we should make an effort at signing him to use that cap space money. I think signing a free agent right now is crucial because it will show the fans that the organization is serious about putting together a contender.

I do agree with Taylor that Aminu + something else is not going to get us anything in return. Also, I feel that Blake Griffin showed a lot of fundamental skills that in my mind display what he is capable of. During the Summer league he put up very good numbers, and not just scoring either. It seems like Blake can score, rebound, block shots, and even contribute an assist or two. So he clearly can turn into a superstar, but the fact of the matter is that he has not played one single NBA game yet. Thus, we really can't say he is a superstar..yet.

But the poster of this thread is right that we do need to act and sign someone because we sure as hell gave up some very good players to free up cap money for the 2010 bonanza, and Gomes, Foye, and Cook just simply weren't what any of us had in mind (as the poster of the thread said they are basically scrubs).

Jefferson would be a huge upgrade over Gomes or Butler... I just don't think the team is looking to really make a big move to competiveness this year... Otherwise, we would have waited on signing Gomes, Cook and Foye until we had a better FA in hand.

Look at the moves we've made this off season... It indicates one of two things. Olshey is building with youth, or he's the dumbest GM ever to take over a team... The indications are, it's youth (I certainly hope)... He signs Gomes and Foye out of the gate, two relatively young and marginally valuable role players, instead of spending top dollar and trying to sign a big name. That makes it clear we're not making a big push for 50 wins next season. Subtle improvement is the goal...

Look who we draft. Aminu, a project who hasn't developed the skill sets to play SF rather than Babbitt, George or Hayward, less athletic players who do have the skill sets to play the position and might be more valuable immediately. This is down-the road thinking which hopefully pays off. If not, he becomes the next Darius Miles. Then, we pick up a PG with the # 18 pick... A player I like a lot more than Aminu who has potential to become a starter in this league... But not right away... He's also a project that we hope can contribute a little this year and more during each of the next three years until he takes over the point.

Look at our core... Griffin, Gordon, DJ... If Aminu and Bledsoe prove good enough to join that core, that's a powerful group of young players. Kaman remains young enough to be in that core... (Foye and Gomes aren't core players, just rentals, easily replaced when needed). That's a very young group and in two years we will likely have another top 5 pick from Minnesota in addition to our own picks next year and the year after...

To me, this indicates we're in a full-fledged youth movement, borrowing on the models of OKC and Portland. There will be no Richard Jefferson... Baron will be moved at the first opportunity...

If I'm right, then Olshey is doing a good job... If I'm wrong, and he's thinking the signings of Foye and Gomes will make us much improved, then Olshey should be fired at once.

So, what should we expect these next few years... Study growth as our young players develop. If Griffin is as good as I think he is and stays healthy 35-40 wins seems reasonable... The next year, add another first round pick and a few more wins... Then, the year after, add another top 5 pick... At that point, we'll be ready to fill in any holes (for players who don't work out) and can bring in a free agent (a good one and not Gomes or Foye)... And can go over the cap to resign Gordon, Griffin, etc... We have six or seven years of playoffs in place.

That's a reasonable, long-range plan that can work for us... It's a lot better than the Dunleavy plan of immediate gratification by jumping on the next bad character, bad contract cast off veteran somebody wants to get out from under. If we show growth, I can be patient.

Good ones as in the ones who would have made us automatic champions i.e lebron..wade or even joe.j ..

And how is Aminu + something else going to land us a superstar? Why do we need a Superstar when we, analysts, scouts, GM's, players all feel that Blake griffin is a superstar in the making? Why would we need one, if we have one on our roster already?

what a horrible argument......i dont think were on the same page here...im one of those clipper fans who wants to be a contender...i see where u stand

Superstar in the making..i hope but one thing we've learned this off summer is that U CANT DO IT ALONE,, U NEED HELP....ask lebron

aminu for a superstar if anyone is willing depart from there star like a new orleans or a even a denver but im also one of those "lets go get it guys" soo for even richard hamilton, tayshun prince or danny granger....now i know its hard for but just TRY TO IMAGINE blake playing with one of those guys instead of aminu....jeff green for ray allen anyone?

Memphis damn near went to the playoffs without a superstar. They did before without a superstar ( Im sorry but then and even now, Pau Gasol isnt considered a real "Superstar" ).

memphis added 20ppg and 11.7 rpg to there roster .... lol but that was cute Wink memphis damn went nearrrrrr playoffs lol..good one

^^^ You really think that there's is a player that we actually could get that will make us a championship contender in the next two years? The only players that could have had that kind of impact are already locked up long-term with other teams -- Wade, LeBron, Kobe, Durant. None of the players you've actually identified like Richard Jefferson, Rip Hamilton, Danny Granger, would even guarantee us a playoff appearance next season, let alone advancing in the playoffs. Also, what "superstar in the making" do you have in mind that someone would give us for Aminu + anything else we have? Call it what you want, but even if the team does the stuff you say -- even assuming its as easy as you make it out to be -- there is no way this team could be a "contender" in the next two years. That's why, like Mays, I'm ready to settle for steady improvement.

It looks like Melo is off the market. He would have made us 2nd round. He said he wanted to play for the Knicks. We're gonna be better, why them?

You can win without a Monster Man. We did it and the Pistons did it. As far as FA's I've said many times we need two like Miami. You don't see anyone beating down our door. The Clipps with Le Bastard James and Wade would be far better than Miami. BD would play at the top of his game, EJ off the bench. Richard Jefferson is not a long term solution. He'll plug the hole for a couple of years.

Remember '05-06 this is a team that should have made the conference finals except for Bone Headed Sam and MD and the 8 sec thing and MD having a scrub guarding RAJA BELL. This was a f**k up Work of Art. We lost 6 of the last 7 games

Next year '06-'07 we were a lock for the PO's. It was (almost) impossible to f**k it up but we did. We lost to scrubs. It was so toxic we couldn't keep a 10 day player.

Next year '07-08 EB hurt out for season. Good prospect for PO's Shaun hurt (so what? basketball wise). Kaman out. Last in Pacific Division. Randolph and Thomas pull bone headed stunts to lose against quality teams and Thomas is on vacation as was Baron. EB jumps ship. Beat the best teams in the league and tank to bad ones. Our "Captain" Sam the Rodent bails for Boston.

We know about last year. '09-10. Beat best in NBA, get blow out by bench one of the worst teams in history. We sucked.

The only way we'll get a good FA player is if we overpay and if nobody else wants them. -Reality Check-. The only FA's we need are Bell and Jefferson to mentor. If EJ is mediocre and fades at crunch, dump him. He's supposed to be #2 option. Baron can mentor. I don't know why we got Aminu. We need a shooter. Keep Kaman. DJ won't be near starter stuff next year. If he still plays like he has the palsy, mid season dump him.

We can live with a less then 0.500 season as long as we don't melt down and if we generate excitement. If we play to the best of our ability and lose that's OK A halfcourt team takes years to develop. We have to be young and fast and three point nasty a la PHX. Otherwise grease the zucchini. We won't get anybody. It's not DTS' fault

I agree about the two years
