For more than a year we've been hanging on what Griffin is going to do in his rookie year/when he comes back/in his rookie year with another year under his belt, etc. Even the national media thinks Griff is the top rookie, and I think we are banking on him being a stud WAY too much. I'm not saying it won't happen, I'm just saying all our hopes rest on a guy who has never played a game. So when you think about it, what are you honestly expecting from him this season stats wise?

To keep from being too vague, my official prediction is 16.3 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 3.1 AST. Thoughts?

he is easily a 20 10 guy

his preseason games he said he didnt play that well..

he had 15 points and 11 rebounds againt the lakers

with a 7 of 9 shooting

i remember him saying he was still playin a bit shy becuse it was his first games

and ppl thought he played great..

that is why i think he will be great in the nba...

Yes my hopes are high for him..

blake is that guy..

doesent shy away.. loves to show wat he has...

and he trains to be the best..

the real qestion is..

whos gonna back him up as his robin to his batman

Random question:

Even though it's technically his second year, since he didn't play, is he eligible for ROY?

That is a great prediction add 1.8 BPG and I would say that that's dead on. I'm guessing you got those numbers from his averages in last years summer league? I never thought he would be a 20PPG, 10RPG player in his first year that's just a little too unrealistic. However, if he manages to put up 16.3 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 3.1 AST in his rookie year then we got our moneys worth.

By his second year though I do expect an improvement and want to see 20PPg, 10RPG, 3.1APG and stellar defense.

I didn't look at his summer league stats I was just trying my best to predict a rookie who will struggle occasionally, but will balance those games out with several games where he looks like a cant-miss star. And there's no way I'm expecting 20 and 10 out of him right off the bat, so I thought that was a good average prediction. But thanks haha

It was a dead on prediction man. I think you're in the ball park. Also, I think Summer League will kind of give us a clue on what we can expect for the regular season from Aminu. Without seeing him play summer league yet I predict 14PPG, 7RPG, 1APG for Aminu. As for the other kids I really don't want to throw that out just yet because the chances are that they won't see much playing time, where as Aminu has a good chance to start at SF

Yes, he is. Just like Oden was after he sat out his entire rookie year. Except, unlike Oden, I'm hoping Griffin actually will establish himself as a ROY candidate.

Some of you are predicting 8 boards? Wow, I think that's a slight to Blake and his superb rebounding prowess. I think he'll avg close to 10, easy. So I'll say 16 and 10.

yeah i dont see why people are giving him only 8 rebounds a game. even if this guy doesn't produce points every night, I think he's a lock at 10-12 rebounds a night along with 3-4 assists.

griffin does not have a very polished offensive game and definitely will not be our number one option on offense. that said, he'll still get some hustle buckets on putbacks, fast breaks, alleyoops, etc. he'll still beast on the boards but its tough to have 2 guys both average 10 boards, so i see him and kaman each averaging around 9.

for this season, i'd put griffin at:

13.2 ppg, 9.3 reb, 2 assists, 1.3 blks, 55% fg, 63% ft.

^^ last year kaman averaged like 9 while camby averaged 11. i think griffin could be as good as camby, but also remember last year nobody else could rebound on this team. rasual and thornton were terrible rebounders at the 3, whereas now we have gomes and aminu who are both solid rebounders. so i don't really see griffin averaging more than 10.

I'm hoping and somewhat expecting Griffin to be comparable to Carlos Boozer and then improve from there. 18/12... Borderline all-star as a rookie.

i don't get these boozer comparisons. boozer is a good scorer, and it would be nice if griffin could get his offensive game up to that level...but boozer is unathletic and a subpar defender. i watched the jazz a lot, and i think boozers overrated. good scorer, but made better by playing with deron williams, pretty good rebounder, undersized and bad defender.

i havent seen anything from griffin that tells me he's fit to be a #1 option. he bangs, runs the floor well, attacks the rim strong...but until he learns to effectively and consistently create his own shot (and work on that jumpshot), he'll need a legit superstar to complement his skills. definitely feeds off the play of others.

yup, he does feed off of other players. but his hustle, intensity, and overall drive to win is what separates him from the rest, and while he feeds off of other players, he also makes the other players better, IMO. but you're definitely right, he will need to solidify his jumper and add some post moves to his arsenal.

Gonna say he's going to average 15.6 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.2 blocks, 1.7 steals on 32.7 mpg playing 78 games in the season.

fg % = 54.8

ft % = 72.3

Wow some of these predicitons are ridiculous. Over 3 assists? shooting nearly 60%?

Even if you take the low part of all my number predictions which would be what...

15 points, 7 boards, .46% FG, 68% FT, 1.5 assists, 1 block 1 steal thats amazing right there with a lot of room for growth.

I'd love to see him punch out 20 points 11 boards, 3 assists, 80%FT, 55% FG, 1.5 steals 1.5 blocks but I just don't think realistically thats gonna happen. Meaning a lot of people are going to be disappointed.

reading all these predictions..

everyone is saying around 17ppg 10 reb and 3 assist per game

this will be solid for him to bring..

who on ower team comes close to this....

we didnt have one..

kaman came close but i dont think he has the confidence as Blake...

In reality i see griffin averaging about

14.8 PPG 8.1 RPG 3.8 APG 1.4 BPG 2.5 TPG

What i'd hope to See from him

18.1 PPG 10.2 RPG 4 APG 2.0 BPG 1.2 TPG

But that 2nd part is just being optimistic

BINGO!

You are typing OWER instead of OUR. please try to fix this, it will make your posts more readable.

I think he's better then when Boozer came into the league and Boozer had a 17.9 PER, averaged 10+ ppg on only 7.6 fga and playing only 25.3 mpg.

BG will be more of a focus on offense and play more mpg...it's doable for this guy....if he stays healthy.

20 and 9 would be great but i wonder if his offensive game is refined enough to avg 20 over an entire season. if he developes his jumper it would make it easier to get 20+ bc then teams have to play up on him....and he can use his speed to then attack the basket. Realistically i see him averaging about 15-17 ppg, 9-10 rpg, 1.5 killer dunks per game, and about 2.5 super-clanked free throws per game

screw the numbers...if he goes 20 and 10, dat means our record is 10-20...lol...would love to see him go a solid 15 and 8 and our record da same...he'll win ROY for sure then, even is wall goes off for 20 and 6 on a loser wizards team

16 and 10 is spot on... Kaman doesn't rebound like he used to before he started scoring and Blake's gonna have to pick up his slack. Aminu just isn't developed enough yet to get the minutes he needs to grab all those boards.

Help us Blake... you're our only hope!

but I do see him being a career 20-10 guy with tons of hi-lites, basically an amare type of player, wit ok defense but not his specialty..but yea, bottom line, screw the numbers, i think we got a legit superstar on our roster for at least a few seasons on our team

BG has exceeded all expectations by experts, fans, and haters! So on behalf of all Clipper nation "thank you Blake, thank you for making a 32 win season still watchable!" Since the Clips only won the amount of games as BG's Jersey #, maybe he should change his number to 82 next season?? LOL.

From what we're seeing, I'm now expecting Blake and EJ to take us to the glory land. Blake is already pegged as a future HOFer, and unless he hits some ridiculous sophomore slump, he's only going to keep improving and become the next premier superstar in this league. Expect him to be in the same sentence as the Lebrons and Kobes next season.
