Ridiculous if true. The Clips just find ways to continue to be the laughing stock of the league if they sign this guy.

Adam Morrison might be a good fit for us actually. A good shooter- he never got much of a chance to play so maybe with increased minutes he can show his stuff.

who knows...

my guess is there gonna sign him for about 2 mill a year..

we will still have cap space to do something..

i am starting to think that we are getting ready for a big trade for a SF.. I FEEL IT!!!

^^^ Just because the guy rode the bench for the two time defending world champs doesn't mean he's a bad player. He was playing behind very good players. There's also the fact that it can be tough for certain players to crack Phil Jackson's rotation. Morrison got off to a good start in Charlotte and then had injury problems. We don't really know what he's capable of based on his time with the Lakers. He won't ever be a star and therefore will not live up to his draft position, but it remains to be seen whether he could be a nice complementary piece for a team. Since he's likely to come cheap and is still young, as I said in another thread, I would have no problem with the Clippers giving him a shot. He's got to be very hungry to prove he's a capable pro. We need that kind of attitude on this team. Better than overpaying for a guy like Al Harrington.

lol at all the Morrison bashing

rookie year with Charlotte he scored over 900+ points 06-07 season

Sign with Lakers then injury set in and dude hasn't been able to show his full potential

I'll give him a chance. when healthy, this guy can play...

Are you sure we are looking to sign him?

There is nothing on his twitter saying we are "looking to sign him".

All's it says is this:

"Adam Morrison not only getting looked at by Washington Wizards but also the Los Angeles Clippers. Bobcat's Ajinca trade still happening".

It would be SF by committee once again, but I think I like Morrison/Gomes/Aminu better than Thornton/Butler or Butler/Outlaw.

Ah..leave it to the Clippers to do something stupid like this. Olshey is starting to make David Kahn look brilliant

That's the only explanation I can think...I mean you (meaning Olshey) can't justifiably convince the fanbase that these free agent acquistions are your big summertime moves. These are acquistions you make AFTER get an impact player, which is something I thought the Clippers were suppose to do. Gomes, Foye, Cook, and Morrison (should it be true) are filler signings, and nothing more.

Until he can prove otherwise, Neil Olshey = Elgin Baylor 2.0

So that one summer league game yesterday was enough for them to think Aminu isn't ready yet.

If it's really for 2mil, I'd feel alright about it. It seems obvious at this point that they're not going to break the bank (insert rolling eyes here) and spend a whole 5-6mil to get a starter. Morrison wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. At least he was on a championship team...Of course the Lakers didn't let him wear a uniform but he got really good front row seats for all the games.

Hell, considering our current depth at the position, the guy could end up being our starter.

he's not as bad as kahn, but he IS getting there.... he promised us big signings and he's getting morrison, unless he's knows something that we don't know about morrison, i doubt this is going to end well.....

Wouldn't it be nice to have Al Thornton on our team. I wonder if we could get him. 2.5mil rookie contract. 24years old. Great athlete. Became a very good offensive rebounder last year. 3pt. range. jumps through the roof.

I wish we could get a guy like him.

Morrison kept those benches warm like a champ. He was very crucial to the success of the Lakers. Phil was too busy drawing up plays so someone had to be the guy to slap Kobe on the ass and say "good job mamba"

Either way the Clippers could use a guy to stand at the exit of the locker room with fresh towels for our real players lol.

But but...He was a black hole. lol

Butler was more of a black hole last season and the guy was getting more love here. Butler shot a horrible shooting % while getting most of the shots ( aside from Kaman) and what did that get us? 29 wins? Gooden?

Thornton might not have been the best starter at the position but he shot 47-48% and was our top 2 offensive rebounders...from the bench!

In hindsight, that was a horrible move. we could have had Aminu and Thornton...and maybe Gomes right now.

So much for freeing up cap space...Really paid off. roll

I knew you'd agree with me on that one!

It's so true though.

And it would have been so much better for Aminu too. I wouldn't even have argued with the Aminu pick at all if Al was still with us....Actually it would have perfect sense in that situation.

If Aminu can develop a face up game as good as Al's was when we trade him for nothing, I'll be thrilled.

Al Thornton is turning 27 years old this december........ but he was one of my favorite players. he chose the wrong path. instead of using his athletic body to get into the paint every time, he would be lazy and shoot jumpers. was he lazy, or was his b ball IQ just that bad?

Is he really that old already?! Didn't know that but still, I'll take him over Gomes/Aminu/Morrison.

really don't think he was lazy. BBall IQ and maybe IQ in general were a little below average....

don't get me wrong, I was never overly thrilled with Al, but seeing what they did instead, I wish we would have just kept him.

Lisa Tillman also tweeted that we were looking at him. It seems that there was a work-out held with some of the remaining, unsigned FAs and Morrison was there. It looks like Harrington was too. Based on Lisa's tweet I gathered that someone from our team was at the workout. Nobody has said anything indicating he's actually been offered a contract by us or anyone else.

Mrrison is crap awful. For those that are saying they' rather have him than cook I have no clue what your talking about other than this...

We sign Morrison to a vets Min and never signed Cook? Im cool with that but people here are acting like Morrison is amazing, which he isn.t

He can only score and he hasn't been very good at that his career. He;s plays 161 games in 4 years with 28 starts. Thats 50 games a year and 9 starts a year while shooting a MONSTROUS 37% FROM THE FIELD 33% FROM BEYOND THE ARC AND 71% FROM THE STRIPE!

Those are HIGH QUALITY NUMBERS! If we ever get this guy he should be the absolute last option to come off the bench for us as he's a poor shooter and plays absolutely no defense at all. If he's anything he's a black hole who cannot shoot well enough for any sort of redemption for taking so many shots.

We'd be better off with 4 people on the floor than this scrub. Grats for him in college, but in the NBA he's been nothing but poop. If they sign him they sign him, good for the team, however I'd strongly consider going a diferent route like trying to land Richard Jefferson or Ronnie Brewer. Hell, how about giving up a couple of draft picks for Andre Igoudala? Apparently thats all that Al Jefferson was worth to Minnesota and he's great.

Considering it doesn't appear we're going to make an impact with any free agent, Morrison is worth taking a flier on. He won't cost much and he can flat out shoot. And we desperately need shooting.

Those who point to his stats and say he's not that good a shooter, should know that he hasn't gotten regular minutes and it's hard to come in cold, take one shot and hit it... Last summer league Morrison shot lights out when he got regular minutes... He's worth a try... With only Gomes and Aminu at SF, we need someone who can really shoot... We're not getting Jefferson or anyone else... He fills a position of desperate need, so why not give him a last chance to make good. He was a great college player and injuries and playing on the Lakers have ruined him.

What will Olshey think of next? Either he's a mad scientist or genius. My guess at this point is on the latter.

Well said, Mays. I get the impression that some of the people on this board are in the group that hated Morrison in college and were hoping for him to fail as a pro. So they are not willing to see the potential there. Its probably all academic though, since I have a feeling this signing is not going to happen.

First, I've never said Aminu is a bust. I'm concerned about having drafted him because I don't see him as the SF this team needs and it's generally been shown that fundamentally unskilled upside guys seldom deliver on their promise, Darius Miles, Chris Wilcox, Michael Olowakandi, etc, etc. I'm hopeful that Aminu is an exception... If he's not, I think he's probably athletic enough to maintain a place in the league for many years... The problem I'm having is that we still need a SF and Aminu has virtually no chance of filling that role... Babbitt, Hayward, George MIGHT have been able to fill that role and in my view, would have been better picks for us.

I'm criticizing the pick by management more than the player.

Re: Morrison... Why are you so all fired up against giving a guy a shot for next to no money when it appears we aren't going to do anything else with the cash? We desperately need a shooter and Morrison can shoot. I'm not suggesting giving him a big contract and tying up cap space. Merely saying, I wouldn't be averse to a make-good offer.

If you had seen Morrison play summer league last year, you'd be on board too, but you didn't... The simple fact is, when the guy is given minutes, he shoots the ball extremely well. And shooting is what we desperately need.

So, tense2, if you're going to criticize me, at least read what I write accurately.

I watched Babbitt last night and he would have been better off being on the bench. He just wandered around helplessly and seamed to be invisible to his team mates. George will probably be the best in the long run , unless Aminu was just stunned by the bright lights and will come around in the next few games.

For a shooter, it's hard to play summer league unless the team is really looking for them... Most players like Babbitt need a system to show their best... Same is true of Morrison and many others... Summer league tends to make the guards look good and everyone else suffer a bit.

An analyst compared him to Luke Jackson and from Monday's performance it looks like a fair comparison.

George looks like he has some real star potential and hopefully Aminu will outshine him.

As for Ammo, i guess if we have he money we dont really have anything to lose to sign him for the min. The guy is definitely more mobile than Novak and IMO plays better D which isnt saying much of anything.

He has definitely had his confidence crushed so i think a new start is necessary

This is not true. The Clippers are not about to sign him. They were one of about 8 teams that watched his workout yesterday. He happened to workout in Vegas where the Clippers are playing their summer league. In no way does this mean the Clipper are about to sign him
