Here is the article from Hoopsworld:

http://www.hoopsworld.com/HeadlineStories.asp

If this is the case, unload Baron's sorry A to Charlotte and lets pick up CP3 asap.

If we picked him up he could even make Gomes look like a star:)

All for it, 100%. I's throw in Minny's pick to sweeten the deal!!!! Do it!!!! Baron salary and Pauls salary are almost equal (Paul makes about 2mil more). This still leaves us salary wiggle room, about 8-9 mil to add some other pieces.

Is there any reliable back story to this or is this Clipper hope? I figure they would want cap relief at least if they traded CP3. I think our picks are great as a trade asset ifn eed be, but do you really think they want Baron back? It would keep them competitive, but would not let them be in rebuilding mode for 3 years due to Baron's contract correct?

young franchise players arent traded for old underachieving PGs. not even with future draft picks.

Yeah, I think it is more "executive" hope more than anything else.

NEWS ALERT ( just reported a few seconds ago)!!!!!!

ESPN has just said the CP3 wants to stay in N.O.

(no lie, just heard it).

I would cry if we got CP3. I would go after him harder than LBJ, exaggerated for significance. No one is off limits in order to obtain one of the NBA's finest PGs, and definitely a proven franchise player and changer!

the goal would be to unload Baron to the Bocats and then trade a few first rounders and maybe DJ to the Hornets.

I hope no one actually expects the Hornets to want Bdiddy, especially after how he left the organization. Also with Collison, they have no need.

we already have a lack of reliable players on our squad. and at least 2 of them would need to be shipped away if we wanted any shot at CP3.

Good trade for us. After watching DJ play in summer league I am willing to part with him, and maybe aminu if his poor play continues

Not at all. They want less money on the books and i think draft picks (like minny's pick) and another LAC 1st rounder plus DJ might be exactly what the are looking for.

The Hornets have a great young nucleus especially with their new draft picks Brackins and Pondexter and i could see them trying to get future value for CP3 and maybe trying to attach Okafor's contract to him.

If we unloaded Baron we could come pretty close to taking on Okafor's contract or maybe even trade Kaman away and let Okafor be his replacement. I love Kaman but if Cp3 is on the table the only player that would be out of question is Blake Griffin.

if NOLA settles for draft picks instead of going for legit talent like gordon and griffin, they deserve to suck.

the okafor situation - his contract makes me dry heave. $11-$14 mil over the next 4 years? barf. but yeah, if we're talking about an uninjured CP3, im more than game.

Yup, he said that a few days ago. But, today ESPN reported that CP3 wants to stay. The fact that N.O. fired their GM means that they are trying to make the team better and hold true to the new owner's commitment to CP3.

We could look at a 3 team trade

Clips get CP3, Okafor, Posey, and Dampier's contract

Bobcats get Baron

-Hornets get Kaman, Aminu, Minny Pick, Our pick, DJ

-Clips get best point guard in the game to go along with Blake (although for only 2 years considering he'll be going to New York in '012)

-Cats turn essentally nothing (Dampier) into a veteran point guard that they desperately need to go along with their veteran team. And we all know Larry Brown can whip Baron into shape with ease.

Hornets get a bunch of young talent with their picks to start over, and a potential top 5 pick with the Minny pick. They also get a legit center that makes less than Okafor for a shorter amount of time. Not to mention they get rid of 2 bad contracts. Then they make room for Collison to finally fully blossom.

btw-Shaun Livingston to Cats for 2 years at 7 mil.

Yeah, it would take a 3 team or 4 team trade to make it work. Hard to do.

Odds on he stays put...until the last year of his contract and states he'd rather play elsewhere.

a 3 team trade to get CP3.

LAC gets chris paul & cash from CAVS.

CAVS gets baron davis & 2 2nd round picks from LAC & NOH

NOH gets antawn jaimson & minnesota's 1st round pick.

Theres where your wrong. If he does want out they will start exploring multiple options in some sort of trade for him. If we threw in Minny's 1st, + one or 2 of ours, + Baron + DeAndre Jordan I think it can be done.

Is that too high of a price to pay? Not at all. However he like everyone else we've ever wanted is merely a pipe dream. CP3 can always say F U guys and just refuse to play. Not like he's gonna miss a million dollars or anything.

Problem is CP3 wants a championship caliber team, and somehow we'd have to sell him on coming here even though he doesn't have a NTC.

So we'd have to keep Griffin, Gordon and more than likely Kaman. We wouldn't want to break up that core group, but I fear Gordon would be asked for in the trade, if so we'd have to keep DeAndre for the soul purpose of moving him in the future.

So say we did have to part with Eric Gordon and some picks and say Baron to bring in CP3. We'd have...

CP3 - no SG, Gomes, Griffin, Kaman with Foye, Cook, Jordan, Aminu, Bledsoe & more than likely warren as our roster. That isn't very good. But I am assuming we'd bring in one of their players in the deal, so we'd probably get either Peja or Posey, both are basically SF's but we could always use them as a 2 if we really wanted to start Gomes just to have a quality player in there.

Granted we could always run, CP3, FOye, Gomes, Griffin, Kaman leaving pretty much all rookies to come off the bench. However if we did get Peja or Posey in the deal, they could start over Gomes giving us Gomes off the bench as a vet + I bet people would feel more comfy on that.

Now what we'd have to do is try to package a pick or 2 + DeAndre to bring in either A) A small forward or B) A shooting guard.

I am not sure how the cap would look after we'd land CP3 and potentially a Posey or Peja but I bet 100$ we'd be damn near the cap. Meaning, it'd be time to start looking to package someone like Peja or Posey to a diff team + DeAndre and a pick to try to land say, Igoudala or Deng. Nobody is gonna want to take on Ryan Gomes + his contract is too small.

So it'd be looking like we'd need to make some sort of 3-4 team trade that would bring in say, CP3 and an Igoudala over here to Clipper Land.

Giving us a starting 5 of CP3, Iggy, Griffin, Kaman and whoever would play SF. With a bench of say, Foye, Gomes, Cook, Aminu, Bledsoe & Warren.

We'd lose Baron, Gordon, Jordan & I'm guessing somewhere between 3-5 total picks at least 2 1st rounders ( 1 of which being Minnesota's as the prime kicker for the trade ).

But I just don't see anything or anyone wanting Baron Davis. Unless we somehow did nab Dampier from Charlotte, so Im guessing the deal would look like this ( reminder Livingston did agree to a deal with Charlotte )

Bobcats get: Baron Davis + Filler from Philly or NOLA

Clippers get: CP3, Iggy + Filler from any of the 3

NOLA gets: Gordon, Multiple picks which includes Minny's and Dampiers expiring contract

Philly gets: Multiple picks including 1 of our 1st rounders within the next 2 years and DeAndre Jordan + filler from any of these 3 teams

It could work mathematically but its just far too complicated. However if we did pull this off Id **** my pants TWICE.

Think - CP3, Iggy, say Posey here, Griffin, Kaman with Gomes, Foye, Aminu, Bledsoe, Cook, Warren + fillers on the bench. Our starting 5 alone would be amazing, far better than what it is now. However it'd be our bench that would need to mature fast.

So I friggin rambled but unless we somehow keep Gordon ( meaning trading Jordan ) and end up filling the SF position with someone better ( not sure if Rich Jeff or Ronnie Brewer would be avail. still ) and move Gomes to the bench to make sure our bench isn't complete ****, I doubt we'd have the team nor the assets to make him happy.

If we did keep Gordon and just move Jordan + Picks we'd basically just need a SF, and if Baron was gone we would have the cap space to make a good offer to someone, ESP with CP3 replacing Baron it'd be a giant upgrade and we'd instantly be a playoff team without a high quality SF, or a great quality starting SF. So we could try to lure in Jefferson or Brewer and just say look, we can pay u X amount, you'dbe on a playoff contending team, a young team with high talent already and high talent for the future.

IF that happened and we did land say, Brewer ( would be my choice ) and we ran CP3, Gordon, Brewer, Griffin, Kaman with Foye, Gomes, Aminu, Bledsoe, Cook, Warren off the bench + vets incoming I think we'd be in prime position to lock up a 4-6 seed in the West. CP3 alone would boost the play of everyone on the team.

Gordon would be the player I could see us eventually trading to bring in better talent if we had cap space. With Jordan gone we'd be hurting at the PF/C backup slot and he's a great trade asset. So down the line I'd expect if our FO was intelligent, Gordon would be used as a key trading piece to bring in a high quality player or some picks.

If you want to make the team better, he's a huge asset that teams would want via trade. If you want Cp3, EG may have to go.

Thats old news. Just because someone says he belongs in Hollywood doesn't mean to come play for an LA team. He could have meant that like hes such a star and so flashy hes basically a big named celebrity and he belongs here. Something like that.
