Heat president Pat Riley said the team was intrigued by the possibility of adding the 35-year-old Dampier, who has spent the past 14 seasons in the league. Dampier played the last six seasons in Dallas, and was the Mavericks' starter when that team lost to Miami in the 2006 NBA finals. Miami decided not to move forward because it already has Joel Anthony, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Jamaal Magloire and rookie Dexter Pittman signed at center. Dampier became a free....

No...

Clippers don't need him, We have Chris Kaman, DJ, and possibly sign Jarron Collins.

Don't think we need 4 Centers...

To sign him would at least give us flexibility to trade Kaman or DJ for draft picks or a player etc. Other than that, he'd be sittin' on the bench a lot and I'm not sure we need that much of an insurance policy for 1 position.

I think he would be a better option than Collins. He's had a solid career on winning teams and I'm not holding my breath for Deandre to be properly able to back up CK.

I think we should give DJ a chance, he has great chemistry with Griffin and they could be a very complimentary pair.

What we should do is get Dampier to hold off on signing until Carmelo goes somewhere. Let Damp know that we're working on getting Melo and that we'd like for him to be the starting center on a team that is loaded.

i know they have great chemistry off the court but does this translate to on the court? i don'tthink we've seen enough of them together to judge that, but I truly hope they are a good pair. Personally I think BGs bruiser clean up the mess gamestlye will complement CKs dominant low block game more,

What I'm really excited about this season is the prospect of Kaman stroking it from 3...

edit although he has averaged .000 3pt% every season of his career so I won't get my hopes up but one can dream...

We haven't seen enough of DJ to say he isn't going to be a decent player either, he hasn't really ever had stable minutes and I think he could thrive as a garbage man/shot blocker.
