Favorite quote from this is at the bottom where it says:

Quote:
Chris Haynes, based in Portland, covers the Trail Blazers and the NBA for Pro Basketball News. He can be reached at chaynes@probasketballnews.com and via Twitter at www.twitter.com/chrisbhaynes. (He says...)

I think blake will be rookie of the year and the best powerforward in the nba in three years, his combo of power, explosiveness and skill is the blueprint for all the "special"players in nba history I think that for once in the clippers history they have a legitamite superstar and have a legitimite chance if they keep this team intact to challange for a playoff spot this year and a championship in the next 2 or 3 years.

Nice find but that last quote was by a reader, no by the author of the article. Just in case you didn't notice that...

gives me butterflies just thinking about the Clippers being championship contenders in the next few years. We'd need to add a more solid piece at the 3 before we did I think but we'll see how Ryan Gomes fares now he has a chance to shine. I really like Ryan Gomes, i haven't seen him play but his attitude and smile make me excited about what he can bring to this young group of players

time for our breakout season???

Not sure where I see the championship contender part coming in, but we should be a solid playoff team over the next few years.

I suppose if the Minny pick yields another major player, it's possible... But we still have some big holes to fill. Baron will be gone in a few years, so Bledsoe will need to develop fully. Same with Aminu... Neither is far enough into their career yet so we can make much of a positive prediction about where their games will be in three years.

Still, Griffin will be an all-star by next season... Hopefully we have no more than one lottery left to participate in...

Griffin might be an all star this season. If he puts up 16.7 and 9.7 in 23 min a game, imagine what he can do in 44-48 min a game. Not that he would play all 48, but I would say 40 min. He might be able t average like 20 and 12. I know it is a tall order to fill but you never know. Power Forwards in the West that have a shot are. Zach Randolph, Pau Gasol, Dirk, David Lee and I guess Tim Duncan still (though I doubt Tim will get a nod this year) I am confident he will be a major contributor out of the gates. I actually want him to sit tonight's game. Give him a well deserved night off and let Aminu get some major burn.

When they had originally signed Gomes, all I was thinking was is this it? But these past 3 preseason games (and other offseason news) of what ive heard of him has been very good and im excited to see him play and too see what he can do in LA.... I think his shooting % will go way up this season

Even our good man Ralph Lawler thought highly of Gomes last year Smile

I mentioned this on another thread. When i was making my lats video, I went through 3 games where we played the wolves. In every game, Lawler and Smith kept on raving about Gomes' game. Lawler even said that he'd pick Gomes on his team every time.

I swear, looking back now, I think Lawler had something to do with Gomes coming here. lol

I think people are going to realize just how well this guy plays. I think he will become a crowd favorite real quick.

Nice that Griffin might end up making us legit contenders in the next few yrs. btw I take back anything questionable I ever posted regarded Ryan Gomes. Dude is a stud(No Bruno) and is worthy of starter burn.

I agree that Gomes is a perfect fit. I love that he can spread the floor for our Bigs.

As for Blake, if he finds a consistent J to open up his drive I just don't see how he can be stopped by one guy.

Talk is cheap but I think his actions will speak louder than words.
