| We've got Q Ross & Knight to try and clamp down on he and Monta Ellis- gonna be tough though. Kaman really needs to assert himself vs. Biedrins. |

| You gotta love how Kaman was playing before he had to go to the bench with 2 fouls- he was rebounding great and had some nice post moves as well. And how about Ruben Patterson guarding Baron Davis! Great job by Ruben until he got 2 offensive fouls and had to sit. Mobley is guarding Baron now. |

CLIPPERS WIN!!!! ALONE atop the Pacific Division (I know its only game 1, but it's still awesome).
To think how all the sportswriters said we were gonna suck and then we beat the Warriors at their own game of scoring a ton of points.
Props to Chris Kaman for being a force inside and Cuttino for hitting his shots off the bench. Tim Thomas with 20 points too, that's how you do it Timmy!!
I didnt get to watch the game, so I'm going only on stats here...So you guys who watched, let everyone know how you think the Clippers played tonight.
GO CLIPS!!! |

well we got the W, but i think we could improve. We did not have that killer instinct, since we should have put them away. Also, I am not crazy about Dunleavy's substitutions, but it is early so i understand that. I do not think he played Sam and Corey enough, especially in the first half when the warrior made their run.
BUT, a W is a W, and Kaman was the beast i knew he could be, so all the haters, like was said before give him a chance, this is looking like the perfect chance for him to shine |

That was awesome- it's really a different type of game the Clippers are playing. They are going quicker but I'm glad that they're not taking many bad shots- most of the shots were good ones and most off of extra passes. They did give up a few too many transition baskets than I'd like to see but heck the tremendous hustle spearheaded by Ruben Patterson was very apparent.
Kaman just had an amazing game- he answered the challenge emphatically through great effort and solid decision-making. Time and time again he made the Warriors pay when they decided not to double him, and he made quick passes out of double teams. Chris ended up with 26 points, 18 rebounds, and only 2 turnovers- WOW!
And how about Cat Mobley? He made clutch shot after clutch shot down the stretch after the Warriors had cut the lead to one with about two minutes to go. Mobley finished with 21-5-3 in 32 minutes of play off the bench.
So a great, great start to the season- I have to applaud the coaching staff for doing a great job with changing the team's style of play- it was certainly on full display tonight.

Yeah, that isnt an easy transition from last year. Dunleavy must be in heaven with Ruben Patterson's energy and effort and all the versatility the roster offers. Also, he kept with Mobley at the end cuz he was making clutch shots. Great move. |

Yeah Ruben plays with reckless abandon- I hope he will cut down on his turnovers (he had *5* tonight). But he was tremendous defensively.
Also I forgot to give props to Brevin Knight- he had 9 assists and played pretty good D in the 4th- so good in fact that Q Ross didn't play much in the 4th & Sammy didn't even play at all. Maggette was really terrific with 16, 7, and 5- the rebounding #'s and assists were both 2nd on the team, so that meant Corey played a very complete game. Thomas was also a big different maker from downtown- 20 points, 3 of 6 from deep, & chipped in with 5 boards. In fact the entire Clipper team crushed the Warriors on the boards 53 to 36. So the coaching staff's message that everyone needed to contribute on the boards really was taken to heart by the guys. |

| CLIPPERS SPANKED THAT A**!!!!!!! It was a strange game for the Clipps. We scored 117 pts. It would have been a blowout if MD had brought in the horses before the big lead was blown in the 2nd quarter but the Clipps showed without a doubt we owned GS. We did it without Brand and Livingston. Sam spent most of the game on the bench, Corey didn't have a big game and Knight scored 2(?? ) points. It didn't seem like they ran anything for Corey. To say that the Cayman had a monster game is an understatement. The reason we won is because he OWNED the boards. He backed people down, he split double teams, he passed well out of double teams and he DROPPED THE HAMMER. CK won this game singlehanded. I'm still buzzing. I think I'll take my valium not. by the way see the Kobe post |

Did anyone else go to te game last night? Great game, but I already see some repetitiveness from last year which isn't such a great thing,
KAMAN- The dude played his A S S off!! Although Golden State lacks a legitimate center, it was great to see him get into a rhythm early and often. I think he pulled down 6 rebound in the first 2-3 minutes. No disrespect to Elton, but when Elto is not on the court, Kaman has more room to work around to where he can do is spin moves. Their were a few shots that he took from the outside that I questioned, but he receives an A in my book. This is the Kaman that we have been waiting for.
Q. ROSS- Did his usual outing, no comment there. A
R. PATTERSON- Was a bottle of energy last night. For a guy who is 6'5, he had 3 blocks, 4-6 from the field, and he contributed on those types of plays that don't show up on the box score. However, he did have 5 turnovers (team high) and at times got a little carried away in being to agressive. B
S. CASSELL- I felt that he spent more time on the bench, than in the game in which we really could have used his court presence. Only played 23 minutes, but it really felt like 15 minutes. But the time that he was on the floor, it was Sammy being Sammy. Voicing his opinions, getting the ball where it needs to be, but he should have been out there in the 4th quarter. A
C MAGGETTE- This guy played like it is his team. He looks like he lost a bit of weight and seemed a bit toner. Corey looked good out there in the start. He had good ball control, 12pts, 7reb, 5ast in the 31 minutes he was out there. Again I question Dumbleavy on his moves. Corey played all the 1st quarter, didn't look a bit tired, sat him out the 2nd quarter until there was 2:55 left to play. At that point, the team was stagnet on offense. But it wasn't his fault. Corey was Corey! A
C MOBLEY- This guy played a great game off the bench. Hit key shots when needed to, and he stepped up like the veteran he is. He is a great 6th man to come off the bench if Dumbleavy is not going to start him. A
T THOMAS- He did good as well. He hit 2 3 pointers in a row at a crucial time. Smart shooting, he hit all of his 7 free throws, didn't do anything dumb, and most importantly, he didn't get injured! Another solid scorer coming off the bench.
B KNIGHT- His experience came through last night leading as a floor general. At times I questioned him being on the floor at the end of the 4th quarter, but he didn't force any passes, he had 9 assists which is awesome and did everything e needed to do within his power to sustain the lead and win the ball game.
A THORTON- Not bad for his 1st official game. He was very nervous, and looked a little lost out there, but it happens. He played smart enough to win........NO TURNOVERS in his 16 minutes of play. You can tell he is a bottle of energy as well just wanting to dunk the ball every chance he gets.
P DAVIS- He just looked lost in his 2 minutes of play. Not much to say
DUMBLEAVY- Only thing I question is why is he leaving Sam and Corey on the bench for so long? I think there rest periods were to long rather than to frequent. By the time Corey came back, he was as stiff as could be. 1st shot he took, after his rest period was well short. At times when the offense was collapsing, and we didn't have any shooters on the floor, is where we needed him most.
I can understand coach only playing Sam 20 minutes a game, but to have him not to play in the 4th is asking for a loss against other quality opponents. Coach needs to use there play time more conservative and not in big long stretches.
WARRIORS- Davis was a stud, so was Azubuike (career high 33pts) It looks like we will be battling them later on in the year for the 7th or 8th spot. But they are not the same team and lose their versatility without Jason Richardson. |

I was at the game last nighgt, and had a great time. You guys have pretty much hit on everything, but here's a couple more observations:
Kaman - he was throwing down some dunks last night. We always complain on CTB that he is too soft around the basket. Well, last night he went strong and hammered the ball in! Including a sweet reverse dunk in the 2nd half. The other guys were also driving then feeding him at the last second and he was coverting. Great game plan, great use of CK. When GS put Patrick O'Bryant in, we knew we were in for good things.
Cassell - I also wondered where he was. But this was a good game to let someone else get minutes at PG. Too fast paced and we needed an upgrade on D. So I'm not upset. Brevin did well. He's very unimpressive on offense, but if he's in there with a couple of scorers, then it should be OK. Cat's HUGE clutch performance made this line-up work.
Q - Wow, his shooting has really improved! He's extended his range. |

| I WAS THERE Remember, we beat GS with Cayman and much of our second team. No Sam, no EB, no Shaun, Minimal Q, Corey limited minutes. They are only missing Steven Jackson (isn't he in jail? ) :-)Caymnan didn't gas. I think he played the whole 4th, if not most of it. Two (??) fouls. And he dunked more than the entire last season. Throw it down big man. |

Thanks for the observations guys- you guys who were at the games always notice more nuances. Like u guys I was wondering why Sammy didn't play the 4th- maybe he tweaked something? But yeah like ether said it could've just been a matchup thing (though the Clippers did fine when he was out there). I mean even when the Warriors cut it to 1 Dunleavy still stayed with Knight. But heck I'm not going to complain about the result!
And good call on the Kaman dunks ether & toohip- CK definitely finished strong whenever he had the opportunity. You also have to love how he always was in position to receive the dish after penetration for those dunks- he was into the game big time and was really moving his feet. And yeah Q hit that 3 in the first quarter with some confidence huh? |

I wasn't able to watch the game, but i was keeping up w/ it via radio. It really seems like the clippers are focusing on their weaknesses. The majors one i noticed was Kaman's aggressiveness and Q's confidence. Good to hear. and boy, i really think we are deep. good 8-9 man rotation is useful and helpful for situations in every game. glad to come out w/ the win yesternight. It's only one game, but it takes winning the first game to go undefeated. lol we're off to a good start. show those boneheads who really can't play ball.
