Clippers shoot .697 (only Orlando is worse surprisingly)

Opponents [when playing the Clippers] shoot .767

In these single digit loses, this is the difference.

DeAndre Jordan shoots a career .383

The is FAR worse than Shaquille O'Neal's career .527

Blake Griffin (my favorite player, mind you) shoots a pathetic .582

Ryan Gomes (good thing he isn't playing that much anymore) is shooting a .676, far below his career .803

Al-Farouq Aminu is shooting .667

At least Chris Kaman is shooting .765 from the stripe.

DeAndre Jordan is awful he has no upside whatsoever, maybe Kaman isn't worth 11 mil but this doesn't make Jordan a viable solution.

thread not meant to sound so negative, in fact maybe the team is more skilled [at this time] than we think, but these basic fundamentals will cost us the playoffs in the west EVERY YEAR until its fixed in my opinion

I would be interested,,but am too lazy to look up,,VDN career FT %. I'll bet he was good,,,I would have these guys shooting 200 each at every practice (except for a few like Baron). VDN should be able to teach this. Seems like virtually very year this bites us in the rear,,that and the foul calls (as list night showed) also seem to rain down upon us when it appears we have a chance.

Baron needs to shoot them as well. He was 0-3 in free throws last night. This can and should be corrected.

Interesting stat. I remember last year, through the first few months, the FT's were also a problem. People were blaming DUnleavy, citing player disinterest or sabotage (despite the fact his teams typically shoot well at the line, an aspect he used to emphasize, if anything).

Single-digit losses, they make a difference, I agree.

Just because DJ can't shoot free throws doesn't mean he has no upside. He fights for offensive rebounds and is playing much better on the defensive end. His form is much better on his free throws, and until the last two games, his ft% was hovering around 50%. At least his free throws aren't as ugly as Snacks anymore.

I kinda agree with this. Free throws are really crucial when it comes to close games but lets not ignore what the players do best. Perhaps we won't be in a position to win a game with out, for example, DJ's shot blocking or BG's scoring. Anyway, I have a feeling that our players will improve on this as the season goes on.

I agree that was BS, but last night we had the upper hand in FT's and we blew it. It goes both ways, we need to make out FT's. Had we done so we would probably be at about 8-9 wins this season.

well were down by 22 at a point and cut it to 3, VDN put bledsoe in at the closing 3min for some reason and had 2 clostly turnovers right away. Good coaching.

This team is just terrible mental losers they find ways to f*ck up games and lose it's sad to watch. Thi team knows how to dog it out and come back it games with Baron but they can't finish VDN isn't the kind of coach who can break down the game and mkae plays to win something has to change.

Clippers 98

Kings 91

Good game.

We shot 19-23, 82.6% from the line tonight. FAR above the sub 70% that we usually shoot.

The game is

92-91 with our usual free throw shooting... a one possession game.

Kings shot well from the stripe tonight too.

Del Negro was an excellent foul shooter...career 83.9 percent; average from the field (47.5% FG, 35.9% 3-pt)

Clippers 108

Suns 103

Clippers shot 21-34 (61.8%) from the line... yikes..

Suns shot 16-18 (88.9%) from the line.. Hill and Nash don't miss

This game is a double-digit win if we hit the shots from the stripe against a decent Phoenix team.

Griffin 12-16 from the line, we'll take it

D.Jordan 3-10 from the line, that's really gotta get better

Eric Gordon didn't get to the line surprisingly

again, im not being negative... im actually pointing out that we are really looking like a 7-8 seeded playoff team if we can get this silly thing handled. It's easier to correct this (i think) than not playing defense.

deandre isnt generally going to take that many free throws. if you discount deandre, the rest of the team shot 18/24, which is 75%. that's not bad really.

for now, kaman is really out starting center. and unless deandre really shows he can be a full time quality starter(including showing improvement in FT%) i don't really think he's our future starting center. i love him as an energy guy off the bench, and for the short term, that's what he'll be as long as we have a healthy kaman. a couple years from now, if kaman leaves, the clippers will strongly consider bringing in a replacement center unless deandre develops into a better player, because as of now i'm not sure the organization trusts him as a full time starter because of his offensive deficiencies.

Hack a DJ was the suns plan the other day. Didn't work but I can see why they'd try it. He's a horrible free throw shooter.
