According to Marc Stein of ESPN. Because of Deandre's recent great play, looks like other GM's thinking Kaman might be available:

If we trade him, hopefully we can get good value at SF in return.

Thanks for posting that, but its not much of a revelation by Stein. Seems only natural that other teams would start inquiring about Kaman. But if I'm the Clippers, I'm making it clear that the price for Kaman is high, if I entertain offers at all. Its not like we need to unload him at all.

how many of yall would be interested in getting together to view some away games? maybe set up a spot at a sports bar/pub/restaurant.

home games, even.

well ive been a Kaman supporter

if the guy is going to get traded i hope he goes to a team with alot of experienced vets like Dallas

spending 8 years with this team must be wasted potential and promise

^^ That would be a huge mistake if we trade him before the season is up. DJ has only been killing it for a very short time. It's only been about 5 games where he has helped alter a game. I'd wait to see a bit more of DJ before we trade away our versatile true center.

i get what ur saying but he wouldnt be where he is at if he didnt have kim hughes working with him every day.

and btw kaman should only be traded after we see him come back and play with BG. We have to see how he works with BG because if he does we could potentially have the option of running the most athletic front court in the game or highest scoring front court in the game. But if kaman just cant work well with griffin after like 10 games i say we need to trade him and get a SF that has the ability to go off for 25+ but averages somewhere around 17 and 6. One that can stretch the court, play great defense and swing the ball/make smart entry passes. We get that done then we have a completely lethal starting line up.

And even tho I like iggy, i dont htink he makes us that much better just because he is only effective scoring the ball when he gets to the rim. His outside shot is not deadly enough to make him a good fit with a dominant big like blake griffin. I like iggy as a player, but in my eyes the only way he fits with this team is in transition, and not at all in the half court because of the sole reason that he cant make you consistently pay for doubling off of him.

Its why a guy like prince if we could get him in the offseason would be amazing to have, cuz he has the vet leadership, the passing ability, the outside scoring and the defense we need. Also, although i could quite possible take heat for saying this but im kinda pissed we didnt go after trevor ariza in last offseason cuz he would actually be a decent fit in my eyes, because he has defense, 3pt shooting, and the only thing that is suspect about him to me is his passing and that although he plays good perimeter D he is kinda weak if he gets caught in the post but like a luol deng or carmelo.

There are plenty of guys out there to be had, especially for a guy like kaman if he doesnt work out. But although i make suggestions, the best route i think that could happen is that kaman actually works great with BG and we retain him and just wait till FA and pick up prince and a couple more vets to fill out the bench. Preferably a more consistent scorer at the 2 spot than foye.

DJ has been productive since the U23 starting thing we just couldn't produce win because ouroffense was horrible. The notice was when. Baron Davis came back which allowed us to have rhythm on both ends.

I agree for the most part. Unless of course we could pick up a decent backup C packaged with a good SF. That would be worth a risk, imo.

i'd wait on trading him. See what he can do with BG and how he fits into this new offense. I'd only trade him right now, if it's for either Melo or AI.

Kaman has been on the block for a while, the reason the Clips have sorta taken him off the table for now is they're not getting good value offered for him because of his injury. What management needs to be careful for is making sure DJ will sign an extension with the team before unloading Kaman during the off-season for equal or greater return. Otherwise we'd end up with some 10-day contract as our starting center.

I want Kaman traded asap. He's a very good player, one of the best C's in the league. He's also a terrible fit for this particular team. Kaman fits in a half court slow pace team, which 70% of the league would fit into that category. (Not the Clippers though) I can see the allure of a high-low game with Blake on the block and Kaman at free throw line extended. Kaman knocks down that shot consistently and it's possible that it'll work pretty well when he comes back.

Overall though, we have a better group of bigs compared to our group of wings. DJ has been our Center since this team has turned things around. He's Blake's best friend, he's very young, and he's the second best athlete at that position in the whole league after DHoward. Most of the league would take DJ today as their starting Center and be thrilled about it. He's just getting better and better and the chemistry is there with Baron and Blake.

My point, DJ MUST be resigned next year. And it will cost 35mil over 5years. He's worth it on merit alone but just as importantly, it is the first step to keeping Blake here for a decade.

Kaman makes 12mil. Quite possibly, he is now a bench player on our team. On almost any other team, he's a clear cut starter, 1st or 2nd scoring option....He's worth more to other teams than to us.

On the other hand, we sport the worst SF position in the league. That 12mil in salary needs to be transformed into a SF. Trade him for a guy under 27years old who can immediately step in, start, and contribute consistently.

Iggy+Speights for Kaman.

...if he can make it back by Feb 1-7 and plays well and shows he's healthy, I think there's good chance we can trade him for a position of need....but if not just wait till the seasons over and mull over trades with him then or during the draft.

kaman has always been on the block, and i suspect that had he not been injured, he would have already been traded for a sf

Kaman said last year or in the off season he's surprised he hasn't been traded already.

Problem. Let's say he's not back and functional till Feb 15-March 1.This is his ?3rd? year injured. Last year he was a monster till after the All star game then he took a bit of a nose dive. He can be a bit of a head case. He chokes at crunch time. There's maybe a 30% chance he'll suffer a major injury next year and his contract isn't small. In a good team he could be the 4th option unless he came off the bench.

I like Chris a lot and want to keep him but are we really overvaluing him?

Kaman could get us some good value. Even if he comes back right before the deadline, we could easily be talking to other teams RIGHT NOW to get a deal in play. Only thing that would hurt the deal is if that teams C they have, probably someone not as good as Chris, goes completely batshit nuts and puts up giant numbers, or that team suffers a big injury to a key player and even a Kaman trade wouldn't help their chances much.

Fact is, DeAndre is playing great right now, and this may have been his year to break out just like Eric Gordon. It's hard to say no to this theory given his quick growth he's made over the last 10 games or so.

If we could get someone like Igoudala, Gerald Wallace or someone else that is of good top shelf value at the 3, I'd love it. Just try to keep the player a couple years under 30, and if he's over 30, be on a 1 year deal.

Send him to Houston. They received an exception for Yao and are in need of a center. Plus will negate them making a run at DeAndre in the off season

Kaman to the Rockets for Battier and Jordan Hill works numbers wise. Battier could start at SF and Hill would serve as a backup PF/C.

I'm all for it. Battier is a perfect person to teach the young guys how to play D and be a team player

Boo on a Battier trade! In fact I wouldn't trade Kaman for AI nor Wallace. My reason is that Aminu will be about as good if not better than any of these guys,I think his size and quickness has shown he'll be a good defender, has proven he can hit the three and his handle and passing will come. And he's a pretty good rebounder. I wouldn't move Kaman unless we're getting Melo, Granger. Any trade involving Kaman for a SF will require Aminu. And to trade both of them for Wallace, Battier etc. would be a bad trade.

Pretty interesting how everybody overvalues their own guys. Went over to the 76ers blog and posted the question: Would you take Kaman for Iggy+Speights? So far, I have one taker and about 8 guys who range from disinterested to insulted. Shockingly, Kaman is not a sexy pickup to these guys. They think they can get young talent and picks for Iggy's 4year 48mil contract.

The reality is probably somewhere in between.

..not necessary..I think you could get Wallace without giving up Aminu...who you differently want to keep....as any new SF (unless Melo) acquired would be a good stop gap until The Chief is ready to take over (2012/13)
