Many of you probably don't know that a decade ago or so I was helping Dave with this site, writing blogs, and setting up the polls or whatever, and asked him to start a new site.....Lakers TopBuzz. We started with 2 members, me and Dave. I did the same work on that site that I do here. Eventually Lakers TopBuzz took off. The membership is huge. I have been a lifelong Laker fan but my heart has always gone out to the Clippers. That why i still hang out here. As talented writers and others slowly took....

lol, nice.

imagine if a cavs fan told a cavs fan told a heat fan that they were gonna take over the league. most heat fans wouldnt even bother getting annoyed and taking the time to discuss why they're wrong. there's no reason to because its far-fetched.

but tell a laker fan that the torch is being passed to clippers red white and blue and there's tons of SCREAMING, name calling, stats, historical comparisons...and hidden jealousy. damn right they're worried. you know half of them are in a bind because they know they're gonna have to make a decision - stick with the lakers with an aging kobe, or jump to the clipper ship.

DENIAL!!!!!! lol at them!

Man laker fans sure get butthurt easily. even jordan couldn't keep his high level of play for so long yet they think kobe will still be money for the next 3-4 years. Fans from other teams don't have to hesitate coming to this site and chitchat but if you walk into a lakers forum u need to mask your IP address and use a proxy to avoid catching their germs X-0

hahahaha u sure got balls. i got to give u mad props for that. they are in denial of their looming demise. once phil jackson leaves, the lakers ego filled team is gonna crumble. it wouldnt surprise me if we hear that kobe retires after this season. do u all think that kobe will want to be coached by brian shaw? lol.

Hey JF what's up?

Firstist --Kobe GOAT? You did lose your helment. He's definately top 10 Maybe top 5. I have gained a lot of respect for the guy. He's grown up. Better than Larry Bird? I doubt it 'cause Bird's from INDIANA. He's from French Lick Indiana but no sexual references.

What's this BS about BG going to LAL. Even if it's a joke it's not funny it goes beyond stupid. Melo to LAL puleeze. They are delusional. Jackson gone, Artest whatever, DFish old. Kobe bad knees (really a shame), Bynum OK maybe. Odom streaky. That leaves Pau for sure. These people need a reality check. Are we PO'd about Lamar? Not anymore. We accepted the fact that we imploded and LAL got better. We hated it but we weren't delusional. The only person I may trade Blake for is Phil Jackson + Jerry Buss Oh I forgot, Stu Lantz and What's his name so we can fill their pie holes with cement.

BTW Lawler is a way better TV commentator than Chick. Chick was a great RADIO guy but I got so sick of hearing "dribble drive"

ps. A Laker, Wilt Chamberlain 227 consecutive double doubles. Most consecutive triple doubles - 9; MJ and "O" next in line. Remember he was a center and led the league in assists 8.6? Play offs AGE 35 PLAYED THE WHOLE GAME with a broken wrist 24 pt, 29 boards 10 blocks. First game in the NBA quadruple double per film; >10pts,10 assists, 10 Reb and 10 Blocks. Had eight quadruple double doubles 40pts, 40 boards. Most triple doubles in a season 31 second only to "O" with 41.

The reason I publish these stats is that many of the on-line stats stop around 1985 and people don't know the past. Mike Smith said Howard was the best athlete ever to play the game. Basketball didn't start with Jordan. I saw a post where the question was who had the most double doubles. Answers were Carmelo and Garnet. Blake/ Kevin 40 consecutive dbl dbls ain't squat. (bench press 500 lbs). He several times picked up guys the size of Dwight Howard and shook them like rag dolls.

Kobe GOAT?? I don't think so. Wilt's only shortcoming may have been leadership

Does anybody know who Jim Thorpe was?

god that purple did my eyes in. I think in the debate on who the championship contenders would pick Orlando, SAS and Chicago would all pick Blake as they need somone to battle the Lakers size which is their main advantage over these teams. I think Boston it's 50/50. Miami pick Blake for the same reasons above. Kobe is a truly great player but the hype right now is about the Griffinator.

Well, I guess I burned some bridges over there. The moderators pulled the thread down. I am not so sure it was because of what I said. I had an opinion and used stats to back up my claim. I think it was more of what a negative reaction it got out of the Laker fans and how they expressed themselves. One guy even wanted me banned from LTB. It's tough, but in todays society there are those who just do not want to hear an opinion that different from their own. But that is what TopBuzz is all about, so long as we are civil about it. In every comment on LTB I was perfectly civil. Some of the Laker fans weren't. I still enjoy occasionally watching a Laker game, and I enjoy basketball a lot, still play. But over time I have drifted away from posting on LTB, even though I helped Dave start that site. I just don't enjoy the culture over there most of the time. I guess I probably should have left them alone. But I enjoy a good fight every once in a while. Let's move on. We have big weekend ahead of us. Time to celebrate the Griffinators move into the spotlight.

Jamfan, I was there last night for other reasons right about the time you put it up. There was only about 6 posts there when I saw it. God, I wanted to sign up so bad to explain where you were coming from. Everything you wrote was right on. Griffin is the talk of the town. The torch has been passed. It wasn't about the Clippers vs, Lakers, it was about. "out with the old, in with the new".

Great post and way to keep your composure.

i deal with a lot of ignorant laker fans who don't know squat about the game and it just makes me laugh. i'm talking about dudes that can't even name 5 players prior to the shaq and kobe dynasty LOL. lakers are meant to be supported by people that just needs to have a team to support and not really have their heart into it, but that's not saying there aren't any full hearted laker fans. i respect the old school dudes that can appreciate good basketball when they see it. blake's a rare breed just like kobe and we as bball fans are all blessed to be witnesses.

Yeah, in a couple of comments, I stated without hesitation what a great player Kobe is. The thread was about passing the torch and how the spotlight is on the new kid in town. The sadness for these Laker fans is that their team is in peril, and Kobe is in decline. The problem is that many of them can actually see it but they just don't want anybody to steal their thunder. There are a lot of negative threads and comments out there on LTB about what is wrong with the Lakers. But notice all the negative comments about Blake. Why? He is not a Laker and it is killing them so see All Star Weekend arrive at Staples Arena and they are not the center of attention. Blake and others are going to steal the show. The only Buzz this weekend about the Lakers will focus on what is wrong. But they will only be a footnote.

laker fans are just defensive and unfortunately egotistical. they will always point out the losing tradition and not recognize the change that's occurring. there's a new sheriff in town and he wears red white and blue. i even tell all my laker buddies to join the nation now or forever hold their peace. clipper nation is on the rise and there's nothing all these haters can do about it.

I could only read about 10-12 posts on that thread before I had to close it, no new smart argument on there other than the typical "How many rings you got?" or "They're still the Clippers" type comments. If I want to hear that, I'd just go hang out near Staples Center after a Lakers loss.

As bright as our future looks, we still need to PROVE that we're the next team in LA by winning games and having success in the postseason, and not prove to Laker fans but prove to Clipper Nation. I couldn't care less what the people wearing purple and gold think. What I do care about is our joke of a historically-underdog franchise turning things around and winning the trophy just like in those sports movies, and Blake is an integral part of that journey.

From a buzz standpoint, Blake will be more talked about in AS weekend than Kobe, which honestly doesn't mean he's surpassing Kobe, Blake is simply young and fresh while Kobe's BTDT, and Blake's doing every friggin event.

Did someone on there seriously comment that Clippers road games are empty? They obviously don't know what they're talking about. Even in the bad markets, they've been selling out when the Clippers come to town now.

Oh and it's funny that they talk about how Blake isn't that good, but then turn around and talk about how he'll be a Laker. If he wasn't good, why would you want him when you'd rather have that list of 10-20 guys you'd take before Blake? No logic.

I got banned from there for doing the exact thing you did. Which was disagreeing and presenting stats and facts. They didn't like hearing that Bynum wasn't that great... or that the Clippers beat the HEAT after all of them said the Clippers would get blown out easily. I mean... we just have to understand I guess that unfortunately people get set in their ways. The truth sets you free.. but not if you don't listen to or accept it.

I will say that the majority of those who post now are almost cult like there.. and are extremely sensitive BUT there are a handful of great posters there I still have contact with. All the posters besides 1 or 2 of them in your thread were part of the cult or newer posters.

My favortie line:

"That is an entirely different subject than deciding about a trade, which is a long tern decision. Blake is only 21 years old. Kobe has one leg in the old folks home looking for a walker".

I won't mention his name because that couldn't be right,,but that guy who's name would also appear on a sign for a building that was to be torn down is really living in denial. I guess if you're a Faker fan Kobe must be immortal,,but the reality is, dude is almost done. And the same guy put up his list who he would take instaed of Griffin and he listed Ming and Bynum. Seriously,,the guy is a bit color blind by that horrible purple backgournd.

Hah, they don't seem as high on BG as they were a few weeks ago when they were hoping to trade for him. Remember this, Jamfan? We all know that Bleach Report will let just about anybody write for their site. But if you want to really bust your basketballs, go to this link http://bleacherreport.com/articles/577605-blake-griffin-should-the-la- lakers-trade-pau-gasol-for-the-la-clippers-star Here another Dufus is writing an article about how the Lakers should trade Gasol right now for Griffin and DJ. Go down to the 10 comment below the article. Everywhere you see RaiderFan defending the faithful, remember that is is me JamFan. I couldn't register as....

I do remember, but I am surprised that you still do and could find that thread below that article calling for the Lakers to trade for Blake. And Jimmy Kimmel was calling for him to become a Laker as well. But on Lakers TopBuzz, Blake is just cheep cheese, that is until he somehow actually becomes a Laker and then he will be the greatest player in the world. As I told them, the Clippers would not trade Blake for any player on the Lakers. Not one.

Someone from the Daily News must be on the Lakers board because they wrote an article talking about how Kobe is still the king of LA and there won't be any changing of the guard or passing of the torch as of yet. lol

Well there isn't as of yet. BG has been good for almost 4 months, Kobe has been the face of LA for more than a decade. The same day Blake won the dunk contest, Kobe was becoming the first athlete to get his hand/foot prints at the Chinese Theater. Blake is making huge strides, but we're kidding ourselves if we think Kobe isn't the face of LA anymore at this point.

My point wasn't as much that I actually think Blake is overtaking Kobe right now, but the fact that it's actually a relevant enough topic for people to write about and news outlets to publish.

I love how most all Laker fans would take Bynum over Kaman. Weird thing is, they are injured nearly just as often, Kaman has actually been to an All-Star game ( should have made a 2nd one the year he went off ), shoots a high FT% than Bynum, avg's more points, rebounds and blocks career than Bynum.

While I can admit Bynum is a good player, I just don't think he's as good as people think he is. Considering the talent surrounding him, if he were put on a team that used him as say the 2nd scoring option ( say Sacramento ), I doubt he'd avg a double double on the year, I doubt he'd make much of an impact either. Bynum needs to stay with the Lakers forever, because it's the only real place he'll be loved and put up decent enough numbers. And he fits well with their system.

Lakers are just jealous. How many Clipper fans were upset when Ron Harper left, and all of a sudden Kobe arrives in Laker Ville and goes nuts? Or how about Shaq? Lakers drafted most all their great talent in the past ( Magic, Scott, Worthy, etc etc ) and for a change the Clippers actually got someone that WE Clipper fans HOPE can live up to a name as big as a James Worthy, Shaq, Kobe, Magic etc. We can't ever have a moment in the sun because Laker fans are greedy and won't be able to handle the fact that we may end up having a better team than they will in a couple years.

I remember how pissed and upset not only Laker fans, but their players were when they lost in round 1 of the playoffs, and we won. I think that was the year that Kobe was bitching up a storm and wanted out of a Laker uni.
