why not? the lakers do it all the time with lamar as the 3 (reason they so good)....blake can handle the ball... we are not going anywhere this year...BLAKE CAN SHOOT 3s...

blake catching the ball on the move in the middle with kaman out the paint on the corner and DJ cleaning up.....HOW DO YOU STOP THAT?

not a bad idea, except that defensively we would struggle due to the fact that Small forwards are a lil too fast for blake right now because he is barely learning how to play defense. but not a bad idea

half disagree:

They are not too fast for blake, did you see Blake defend a guard the other night? I forget who it was, but he stayed with him no prob...

I agree that blake needs to work on his defense, and it's primarily one thing in particular and I know why he does it, but he needs to realize that he doesn't have to... his problem is that he always just stands there with his hands straight up in the air. This is great for him to not pick up a foul, however, opposing players now know that he does this and have no worries at all shooting over him...

What does he need to do? Well, I think he should keep putting his arms up like he does, but he really needs to correctly anticipate when his opponent is going to shoot, and then he needs to actually JUMP!!!

But, like his hands being straight up, he also needs to jump straight up. I would recommend a slight spin as well so that he ends up with his back to the defender putting him in prime rebounding position while also helping his chances in preventing a foul.

When I say anticipate I mean as soon as a defender makes a move, after picking up the dribble, he needs to bend his knees, get low, and get ready for the jump, but only immediately as the ball is leaving the opposing players hand. His goal should not be to block the shot while it's in/near their hands, but while it's in the air, that's what he should be aiming for.

Players will have to shoot so high and so fast that it will make their attempts much more difficult (there's only one person I can think of that this won't affect much and that's dirk).

Can someone please translate/get that to him, pretty please?

lol. i agree with u 100 percent. i get pissed when blake doesnt at least jump straight up to contest a jumper. he has the athleticism to close out on shooters. one day i believe he will be a defensive stopper like garnett.

no to this thread. I say start BG and DJ and then bring in kaman very quickly and keep the Centers rotating quickly only playing intermittent shifts. This will help Kaman stay off the injured list and also keep teams off balanced.

Mostly agree with doing this against certain teams. The matchup problem will not be ours, it will be theres. Most teams are just not prepared for that much firepower on the front line. They can't stop it. And the fact that Kaman can drift out and hit the jumper actually opens up the inside for Blake and DJ. As for defense, there may be some SF's that might go around Blake. Fine. DJ and Kaman will be waiting for them.

Blake doesn't nearly have the ball control, security and passing ability Odom does. Odom can play literally all 5 positions on the floor. No offense to Blake, but he can't. And lemme get this straight, a lineup of basically all our best players minus Bledsoe starting, who would come off the bench to play the 4, or the 5 for us? Diogu and Collins? lol?

He's not saying to start the 3 together, just play them together for 3-5 minutes at a time as an experiment

We could always tell Dj to work on his 3 and play him like Brian Cook / Robert Horry just patrolling the 3pt line haha.
