Kings exploring possibility of relocating franchise to Anaheim next season ESPN reports. Team officials have been in Orange County this month to gather more first-hand data and would have to apply by the leagues March 1 deadline.

Thoughts on having a new team in socal?

I think that would be a terrible idea. We certainly don't need a third team in the area - I mean, who would root for them? They should go to Vegas.

I heard about this too, and all I have to say is NO! WTF are they thinking having THREE teams here!?! Move them to Vancouver or something, that way maybe freezing cold may cause Demarcus Cousins to come back down to earth and get over himself.

Vancouver isn't technically that cold, but I get the idea.

pittsburg, kansas city, and Louisville Kentucky have brand spankin new buildings ready for the NBA. I mean Louisville's is called the KFC YUM CENTER, how can you not go there that name is awesome. The Honda Center isn't even nice

Honda center used to be nice, probably easily upgraded. A team is anaheim would be a plus to us in l.a., more rivals and more area games. Welcome the kings, it will spice it up around here. Who cares if that means o.c. will invade STAPLES a few times a year. So what if guys in girls jeans and sparkly shirts are there, we get more laughs.

We'll take them up here in Seattle. Although the big draw for me was seeing the Clips twice a year, it is awesome to see how much, still to this day, sports fans here love their basketball. Not a week goes by that I don't see multiple Sonics jerseys and signs throughout the city begging them to come home. Southern Cali needs another team like the Clips need another huge veteran contract.

San Jose is a better option IMO.

Seattle is the best option. Seattle had the first NBA team it was a travesty to see them move to OKC. David Stern the snake himself should have never let that happen.

Just pray it doesn't happen. Could be the beginning of the end for the Clips in L.A. Send the Kings to Vegas, Seattle, SD, wherever. Anaheim would be extremely bad for the future of the Clips in this town.

SD and Vegas don't have "NBA-ready" arenas, and although Seattle is probably the best option, Stern would allow himself to look like a fool.

I dunno why people think the Clippers will suddenly fold just because the almighty Sacramento Kings would be going to Orange County.

^^^Well you can imagine the grumbling from within the league and NBA fans from cities without a team, especially Seattle. We have 3 NBA teams within 30 miles and one of them is the red headed step child which rents the Lakers stadium while they're away. There's also scheduling problems at Staples within the hockey team and all the events that happen there too.

If the Kings are in Anaheim, the day Sterling sells is the last day the Clips are in L.A.

Taking the current Clippers out of LA would be even dumber than bringing the Kings to Anaheim. This isn't a situation that can be seen as a success waiting to happen. As much as I hate to admit it, Seattle moving to OKC did have some kind of rationality from the point of OKC did prove to be a good place for the Hornets temporarily and they had a good new arena (although I still think the Sonics should exist.) and moving Vancouver to Memphis did have some intelligence to it. Anaheim has no significant history of basketball and I'm sure they're all Laker fans anyway with a few Clippers fans shuffled in.

The Clippers and the Lakers can both come together to basically say no way to this move. I think it's a rushed idea and I can absolutely see attendance in Anaheim being awful.

I will say this as a native of that general area of the country, but Louisville might be the best town to look at from a purely basketball standpoint. The basketball fans there are crazy and they worship the game in that state. They have a natural rivalry with Indianapolis 90 miles to the north, and they could probably play where the U of Louisville plays. I know the Maloofs probably have no interest in that city and market but there are a lot of similarities between Louisville and OKC, except the city proper of Louisville has staunchly supported the game of basketball for generations.

You might remember a couple of years ago the Clippers would play some of their home games in Anahem. They sold out every game. So, there is an audience there. But I think a second team in the Bay area is a better fit for the Kings. The San Francisco Kings, playing in San Jose has a nice ring. Moreover, the Clippers actually draw well, and it is a team that actually makes money. If you have an NBA team that is profitable, you don't move it, you don't do anything to mess that up.

I read just a moment ago that the Kings plan on filing relocation papers with the NBA in March. Meaning Anaheim is a probable destination.

Great points. I think the Clips are in LA as long as Sterling is the owner. If he dies or decides he finally wants to throw in the towel due to all the negative publicity, you can be sure that the Clips will be the new Seattle Supersonics.

Trust me, I don't like this one bit but this is why I was always so passionate about the Clips moving to Anaheim. With them at Staples and the joke that is sharing the building the Lakers, you have the possibility of a team in Anaheim and then the negative fallout from that.

Speaking from the perspective of someone who lives about 5 minutes away from the Honda Center, I think this is a big win for all of SoCal if this gets done. The area is a hotbed for passionate basketball fans and they've all fallen in love with the Lakers by default. The oddballs like me choose to follow and love the Clippers because we like to torture ourselves yearly. For sure many Lakers and Clippers fans would support a team that's closer to home and there's nothing wrong with that. The region has a plenty big enough population base to justify and support a third franchise without marginalizing the other two. This is good for the state and it's good for the NBA which in turn is good for everyone who loves basketball. If Anaheim can support a successful, cup winning hockey team for all these years now in one of the most unlikely areas to support hockey, they can certainly support the turn around a dying Kings franchise. People will come. That's a FACT. I've been to preseason NBA games at the Honda Center before, including a few Clippers games there back in the day and it was PACKED every time. This is a no-brainer really.

That was mainly for internet issues such as using those other names as website redirects. For example, if the Maloofs don't copyright those names, someone else will and take advantage of those domain names being redirected to his or her website.
