just saw Azubuikie was released by the knicks and was recently reported as coming back soon. I think come his summer after he has fully recovered (which should be before this summer) we should bring him in for work outs kind of like we did with Ike Diogu, just more extensive. I think he could be a great piece here, just we would have to test him out first, maybe summer league?

ps. i know its early to talk about summer but just a thought.

it's never too early to talk about the summer when you're a clipper fan

I've been eyeballing Azubuike for years! I really hope that we bring him in to work out. He can shoot and he can defend pretty well. He'd be a perfect sg/sf combo coming off the bench for us.

I'd take Azubuike, problem is I wouldn't sign him to a deal more than 1 year + a 1 year team option. If he gets hurt again, we could just decline his option. He's talented, but this is a pretty bad injury.

^ He's going to start off slowly and he's going to have to work off the rust. I hope someone gives him a shot.

As far as free agents I'd like to pick up:

  1. Tayshaun Prince

  2. Jason Richardson

  3. Thaddeus Young

  4. Wilson Chandler

  5. Greg Oden

  6. Shane Battier

  7. Samuel Dalembert

  8. Grant Hill

  9. Mike Dunleavy

  10. Jeff Foster

  11. Kelenna Azubuike

^^^We want no part of Wilson Chandler. And Tayshaun maybe. I'm mixed on whether or not he would be "worth it". Here's the best real scouting report I could find on him:

  • Long-armed, skinny forward who uses length to bother shots from a step away.

  • Mostly shoots midrange jumpers. Rarely attacks basket or turns ball over.

  • Athletic finisher in transition. Game has suffered thanks to back problems.

Theoretically we could use him from a mid-range jumper standpoint at the 3 but he's injury-prone and getting older. Not a good combo.

Prince would be a good choice....not sure where the "injury prone" thing comes from...except for last year injuries have not been a problem for Tayshaun.

Don't know why Prince has become the ideal target...I felt like the Clips wanted a legit third guy next to Gordon and Griffin, not just a good role player. Prince is a great role player, but I feel like he's just a better version of Gomes: spot up shooter, decent rebounder, good defender.

On top of that, I don't think the team wants to use the cap space on a 31 year old who's already past his prime and isn't even a star player. If they're going to spend money on somebody who's 31, he better be a much better player than Tayshaun.

I know the team doesn't want any more young guys, and that they want vets--but I'd think they meant veterans in the 24-26 age range, like Iguodala or something, who can still be in their prime when Gordon and Griffin reach theirs.

Whats wrong with Chandler? And I want Gallenari. He is the perfect fit for this team no question in my mind.

Im totally down with chandler. The guy has swagger and gets it done. Prince battier young and richardson would all be decent pickups, not amazing but decent.

why in gods green earth is Greg Oden up there i will never know.. we shouldnt ever mention his name as a franchise.. the last thing our seemingly cursed team needs is a cursed player. i live in portland. the guy is a bust... nothing else to be said about it. if you cant even play a quarter of the games on your rookie contract, you dont deserve to get another.

and i dont care if Dunleavy was the best option, i dont want anyhting else to do with his family. nor would his family want anything to do with us. could you imagine him telling his dad that he just signed with us? scratch that, it would probably really piss off MDSr....lets do it! haha

I know he is injured right now with a broken toe, but did you see his stat line for his last Denver game? I mean the guy is a born scorer, it is scary. He got to the line 17 times!! He spreads the floor and attacks the rim. If anyone on here tells me he is a one trick pony who only shoots 3's then they know nothing of basketball.

Seriously.

Mo, Gordon, Gallo, Griffin, DJ or Kaman would be a young monster Starting five.

I wouldn't mind Oden at all. He will be looking for a one-year deal to bring his value back up, and he would be a great second fiddle to DJ. Limited time and expectations would allow him to not HAVE to go balls out every minute (like Blake does). Lastly, without the pressure of having an entire franchise on his shoulders, he may be able to produce consistently.

I would gamble on Oden instead of have a boat load of 4's like we dO now

Tayshaun Prince will be a Clipper next season.

I totally agree with this. I like Prince, but if we're looking for a major upgrade at the SF that is going to help us be a contender years into the future, Prince is not the guy.

unfortunately there arent any big time free agents til 2012. the other upgrades we could make this summer would be through trade.

Outside of Andre Igoudala or Danny Granger, there are no other SF's out there realistically that we could get that would be a major upgrade. My thoughts are the 76ers and Clippers have something worked out right now via a trade as they did earlier this season.

Even if we don't get either of those guys, Prince would be a nice player to have at the 3 while Aminu progresses. He could be had for a 2-3 year deal, plenty of time for Al to show us what he's made of, and fill in nicely with solid D and offense. + he's a native of Cali.

Our 3rd big upgrade we want is probably Deron Williams. He won't be available until 2012.
