I don't think there is any doubt that Kaman is the superior player and will soon be the starter. With his ability to step outside and shoot the ball, he is a perfect compliment to Griffin's work inside. The fact that we've been playing better of late is not just because Mo Williams is a better fit for this team than Baron was... It's because with Kaman we have another offensive weapon in an area of profound need; shooting.

We've all liked DJ's improvement. I'm glad he's gone from uncertain to fairly solid, but he's not yet starter material; at least not on a good team. That said, I like having the combination of him, Kaman and Griffin at the 4/5. You need two seven footers who can play and defend. I think both he and Kaman should be kept. DJ can average 20-30 minutes a game backing up both the four and five. It's a winning combination.

Let's face it, Smith and Diagu are both decent players, but neither is long enough to defend at the PF position.

DJ and Kaman... Some consider this an either/or situation... I say we need them both going forward...

BINGO!

Kaman has provided a nice spark off the bench with consistent production, and while I like him coming off the bench for that 6th man role, Foye has shown he can be that 6th man for us on any given night, and Rhino and Diogu can put up points fast with limited minutes. Bledsoe is still on the raw side but he's shown he can put up double digits off the bench. I would prefer Kaman to start but limit his touches in the last few minutes of the game when Kaman has shown to turn the ball over on critical possessions.

DJ still deserves a good amount of PT on this roster, preferably with capable guards on the floor to push the ball in transition after we get a stop. We credit DJ with his defense but Kaman is actually a solid defensive center against the more clever big men in this league, he's just not the shot blocking presence that DJ is.

Kaman explicitly said in that interview that he was a starter. No if, ands, or buts.

Kaman should start. He can't grab lobs when bench players Foye and Bledsoe throw them up therefore Jordan can come in and do all of that.

Kaman works better with starters. The up side i have to say about Jordan starting is it gets him into the game more and he can actually jump when jump ball occurs not like Kaman's fat ass lol

I like Kaman backing up DJ since he brings that instant offense off the bench.

Kaman deserves to start. His game complements Griffin's game perfectly. DJ is a spark plug off the bench to dunk, rebound and play solid defense but is he starter material? Probably not -- yet.

Repped High Quality Post

To me this is a no brainer. They both stay and they platoon the position. DJ softens up the middle and beats people down when needed, Kaman is the scorer and puts up points when needed. Use them for what is needed at the time.

Although egos generally don't like the idea of sharing a load.

I like Kaman off the bench better too... he becomes the leader of the second unit as opposed to a 3rd or 4th option as a starter.. between BG EJ and Mo we have enough scorers going right now with that unit and could use DJs defense. Then when blake is out, kaman can step up and be the dominant force around the hoop.. he might not like it bc he feels like a starter, but his talents are better suited coming off the bench, possibly making him the most expensive bench player in the league....

Kaman needs to continue coming off of the bench because he's the only consistent fire power that we have off of the bench. Foye is very inconsistent off the bench, and aminu just sucks right now.

Kaman is obviously a much better player than DJ. Very possible DJ never gets as good as Kaman even when he hits his prime.

For the good of the team, Kaman comes off the bench. We run the offense through Blake 90% of the time, DJ is a good compliment to that because he doesn't need the ball in his hands, he's happy to get his boards and get points on putbacks. Also Blake is best in the 1st quarter, many times getting more than 10pts. Kaman starting would screw that up because he shoots so much.

Kaman is the anchor of the 2nd team, we're young on the bench and in some positions we're severely deficient in talent. Our 2nd team needs a go to scorer and Kaman is that.

Unfortunately, while I don't think Kaman is selfish, I do think he's one of those guys who feels slighted by not starting. He's going to push the issue, maybe not this season, but if he's still here in Oct., he's going to be vocal about wanting to start.

Jordan can very well become a better than Kaman by developing his skill set DJ does not need a jumper to be successful but if he can develop his craft he can be weapon if he can reach a Perkins level of production or something closer to the rim of a Andrew Bogut I would say he has surpassed Kaman on being impactful on both ends of the floor. Still not seeing how Kaman is a starter on a good team when he has started all this time and we were a good team once. I'll take the young guy making the young guy mistakes over the older guy making those same mistakes.

What's crazy to me is everyone above is RIGHT! Kaman was an All-Star last year, and to me is a top flight Center in this league(definitely top 5) DJ has shown way more than anyone could have expected and I for one can not predict how good this guy will be. It would be great if CK was ok coming off the bench, but could you be mad if he wasn't? And what reserve player makes 10-12 mil. a year?

yea it would be awesome if Kaman was willing to take a pay cut to pay EJ DJ and BG and stay a part of this squad and be a team player but i have a feeling he wouldnt be willing to do that....

Why would he? he's not at the point where he's one of the older vets willing to take a huge pay cut to play even for a contender. I guess it'll mostly depend on the new CBA.

just saying it would be cool if he would in order to stay here his whole career while freeing up room to sign the needed people to be a contender.. just a random thought, but i know it wont happen

with kaman though you don't know when he's gonna break down again. its like we never learn from our mistakes trade him while his value is high until he gets his next big injury that will sideline him for almost half the season

Got yourself a rep dude!

Simple, but true. They are a 1-2 punch that should be utilized according to our opponent. Let's extend DJ for a reasonable salary, now!

He'll take it just to be with his (B)lake gri(F)(F)in.

Not to rant but Kaman is no more injury prone than most Bigs. Please see my previous post. Greg Oden, Jermaine O'Neil, Yao Ming, Garnet etc etc. Again not to rant (much) his foot injury was a freak accident that could have happened to anybody. A cameraman who was not supposed to be where he was got his CK's way, not another player and he was out so long this year because the trainers screwed up. If they had let his ankle heal right he would have missed a lot fewer games

Kaman is greatly injury prone and you compared him to the most injury prone bigs in the league. Kaman also gets hurt doing the most simple of task Kaman is injury prone and he makes a ton of money he has to go or take a discount when his contract is up. Then if he goes down as usually at least most of the cap space is not laced into a injury prone player.

It's actually the same thing as the Baron Davis deal that so many people loved tons of money to a older player who is injury prone. The difference here is we already have a replacement to groom and start with the Baron situation we have to find a PG after Mo's contract is up.

I like what DJ brings to the team, he energizes the team on defense. Kaman doesn't even sound confident he said he can start against most centers in the league. You would never hear DJ say that because he knows he can. I would bring Kaman off the bench and let him eat up the second team.
