| That's a great deal, but I doubt it after how much Atlanta has invested in him. |

I've been calling for Joe Johnson, Kyle Korver, Mike Miller and Wally Sczerbiak all year!!!
But Maggette & a 1st rounder for Joe Johnson? After the success that Atlanta is having this year, and builing a team chemistry, I don't think Atlanta wants to go back to drafting, and investing on an unproven player an taking the chance on an aging player who only averages 20ppg.
But the players that I just liste above, I woul like to fin a way to get one of them here to help with perimeter scoring. |

| That's an interesting trade. I think Atlanta would have to add a draft pick to make it work, though. JOe Johnson may have a place in LA. I don't think the Clippers are talking to them, but who knows? |

| If they could pull off the trade, why not right? Atlanta would get a smaller contract in Maggette and also have the option to re-sign him. I'm sure they'd like to get another 1st rounder. They probably scored big in the long run with Horford and Law. Some solid youth and veteran leadership is what they need to finally turn things around in Atlanta. Maybe we could get a backup big man and Johnson for Maggette, Mobley and a 1st rounder. Johnson scores as we all know and handles the ball well if I remember. He played PG for the Hawks when he first came there because he was the best athlete, correct? Atlanta would have some Veteran leadership in Mobley, and the chance to evaluate Maggette to see if they wanna offer him any money. Plus two likely lottery picks next year. They would really make out on this deal and we would have a consistent scorer who can handle the ball and make teams pay for doubling Brand or keying in on Thornton. To me, this would a monster trade for both teams and I have no idea if the Clippers or Hawks are thinking about it, but someone please tell them!!! |

Actually, with the chemistry coming together this year and actually in the playoffs right now as we speak, and Joe Johnson being a big reason of where they are now.....Why would they trade him and give him up?
There's no reason for them to go back to the old days and continue to keep drafting unproven players. Johnson is the veteran leadership that Atlanta has. Surely alot more veteranship, and alot more clutch than Maggette.
Mobley is not a floor leader, he is aging, and if you want veteranship, than why not go after Cassell, Maggette, & and a 1st rounder?
But I can't see the Hawks wanting to go back to where they have been the last 5 years |

I agree Joe Johnson is a big reason why the Hawks are where they are. And if they make the playoffs, they probably wont even think about not having him. If they miss the playoffs, its a possibility...but still like you say the Hawks probably wouldnt give up the player who they've invested in so much. I'd like to think it could happen, but who knows what both teams are even thinking.
Mobley is a leader, he leads by example...he may be a lot more silent about it than Cassell, but he is an unsung leader. Cassell is aged a lot more than Mobley. I wouldnt trade for Cassell at all if you plan on starting him. He's only starting for us because he'd be pretty pissed if he wasnt and we dont exactly have a great PG on our team.
I still say Calderon should be picked up next year. That would be ideal. |
