My man: James Singleton just sank two free throws!!!! A 10 point lead right now. Maggette is doing well (despite trade rumors), Brand is being a force inside, Kaman has 4 fouls (but 10 points), 5 assists for Livingston, 3 for Ross. Looks like they are playing well!!! Should this continue on into the night and when the our old "Q" comes back to L.A. in a few days, I will have a big smile on my face. They are climbing BACK!!!

Maggette for Artest? Heck no! That's what you would say if you're a Clipper fan after watching this game. Artest in 33 minutes had 5 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and *4* turnovers. Maggette tallied 21 points, 7 boards, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and only 1 turnovers in just 30 minutes. No contest!

And yeah it was great seeming James get some meaningful minutes out there! He did well snatching rebounds, blocking shots, and hitting all his free throws. Man he can really sky. Kaman & Mobley had terrific games themselves as well.

BTW I love what the Clippers did with Brand in the 3rd quarter. Instead of having him post up near the basket where he would get swarmed by defenders, they had him float around the perimeter, especially around the baseline. He was huge draining 15 ft jumpers in the 2nd half, and his baskets in the 3rd quarter allowed the Clippers to build a cushion in what was a close game.

Good game. From my observations, the Clippers really need to cut down on the number of turnovers, but Sacramento committed a lot too.

My take on each of the players:

Tim Thomas: Finally played two solid consecutive games in a row. He hit some big 3's when they really counted and didn't force a lot of shots. He was able to form a good inside out duo with Brand, which Dunlevy needs to focus more on now that Cassell is out.

Elton Brand: Elton Brand was well, Elton Brand. Another great game to go with all the others. I agree, his 15 ft jumper is deadly -- unguarded or not.

Kamen: Looking like the player he was last year. Hit some key shots early on and was 6-9 total. The main problem is that his defense is at best inadequate. He kept switching on his man or trying to double team when it wasn't necessary -- leaving the middle or Brad Miller or both wide open. Had a tendency to turn away from a driving player instead of just trying to block, which resulted in early foul trouble. Also (on offense), when Kamen is downlow with single man coverage he's virtually unstoppable. The problem was that the Clippers initiated most of their plays with Kamen up top beyond the three point line. I don't understand this. Kamen is a true center, Dunlevy needs to use him like one.

Mobley: Solid all around. Worked Sacramento inside and out and generally out hustled his opposing guard. Made some nice offensive rebounds and hit his FTs.

Singleton: Ditto above minus the outside shooting. I love this guy and I hope Dunlevy learns from this by playing him more. Came up huge on the defensive end (did anyone see that block he had?) and showed a lot of spunk. Love how the guy rebounds and boxes out.

Maggette: Numbers don't lie. On the floor Maggette was far superior to Artest, though it would be nice to see them go at it one-on-one more. Sacramento seemed to like benching Artest, which was unusual. Maggette played like Maggette normally does which mean he gives the Clippers punching power but also takes some forced shots. Needs to learn he's not a 3 pt shooter. Sweet spot seems to be near the top of key at 17 ft. I actually like Maggette in a reserve role now because he really gives the Clippers a spark coming off the bench. Minutes should be increased all around though.

Livingston: It's a love-hate relationship with this guy. Shows flashes of brilliance at times and a sick crossover. His passing his out of this world. However, needs to learn to keep it simple stupid. Should be more selfish -- near the end of each quarter with the ball in his hands he looked way too indecisive. Stat sheet says he had 1 TO but looked like 10 on the court. Finally developing a decent J and needs to learn to use it more -- he shoots over any PG in the league. It's really hard for other plays to guard him, but he can't finish. He needs to hit the weight room more because right now he's still way too slender. Did an adequate job defensively, but I know he can do better.

I like the point you made about Livingston- he needs to be more aggressive & decisive. And with more muscle strength he'd be able to back into the paint more, draw double-teams and then pick the opponent apart w/ his passing.

As you say is always great to see Singleton playing minutes and doing a good job...This type of player:energic, fast, slasher,nasty... is very important when your team is down and you need energy from the bench.Let's see if Dunleavy doesn't forget him and use the whole roster and not only 7 players...We know that Singleton can do this job every night...let's see if Dunleavy doesn't limit his game
