Apparent 66-game schedule would begin on Christmas Day. Very clear and obvious that the league wanted to save its Christmas games. Honestly I'm not all that surprised a deal was reached now compared to a few weeks ago.

BRING IT!!

HOORAY!

I know I've been gone a long time, but just like the NFL lockout, I decided to protest the NBA one by shutting it out of my life.

Now that it's apparently in the rear view window, I'm back and I'm glad to be back. I did start to miss this place very much.

GO CLIPPERS!

Bring on the Travis Leslie show! After his 18,9 an 4 averages in that Vegas league for nearly 2 weeks I'm expecting big things. I truly think his athleticism is going to translate very well like Blake's did.

Also can't wait for free agency!

It's not over. They've only just agreed to a "rough" draft and I still believe the lockout will continue.

Not true. Think about it dude. Most of the players and owners supported the last 50/50 deal 2 weeks ago and wanted it passed. It was the few handling the negotiations that said NO DEAL. Now the people negotiating all said they have a handshake deal and just need the vote to pass. What do you think is gonna happen? It's a done deal broski.

If this deal gets passed by the owners, we'll know they were full of sh*t about not making money.

Be nice to finally see some ball, though.

I guess it's possible that the deal gets a wrench at the last second but this is the first time that the dissolved union+Stern and boys have said a tentative deal has been reached. I honestly think they would all have to be incredibly stupid to not get it done.

For all the pessimistic people, I don't blame you, and I hope you're wrong but this is the first time they've been open about their success. I mean, having a joint press conference with Stern, Hunter, Fisher, and the Spurs owner at 4am New York time talking about how they expect to start on Christmas is certainly reason for optimism.

Quick note: I don't know how they will revise the schedules, but hypothetically using the current one we would open Dec. 26 at Portland then come back to play a "road" game against the Lakers on the 27th. Then have a nine game home stand haha.

I'm too much of a fan to boycott something or be wishing the league would go away haha but I will say that the NBA isn't followed by the huge amount of people that certain networks would lead us to believe based on their heavy amount of coverage.

There will be a significant number of players who will not vote to approve this deal, but there won't be a majority. The deal will pass.

It's plainly obvious the revenue gained by those Christmas games,,,(or to be PC are they Holiday games???),,,,is ginourmus. The networks must pay a fortune to the NBA and make a fortune in ad revenue. This is America afterall,,the mighty $$$$$$$$$$$$$ rules. You can bet it had nothing to do with making fans happy.

I am cutting my games down by a ton. Maybe 1 or 2 or 3 Sat night games will be it this season,,,I will be at the Galen Center for a lot of this season.

I say that now,,let's see how much I really spend when I see a schedule!

So good to be back gentleman.... HAPPY HOLIDAYS

OK, so how does this work in terms of the schedule? Does there have to be any tweaking or do they pick up where they originally would on Dec 25th?

With that said.....can anyone please tell me the dates of whne the Clippers will be playing @.....San Antonio, Houston & Dallas?

Looks like I am going to miss the Clipp show over the holidays when I will be in town.

The Galen Center, USC is horrible in MBB, go to the Pyramid-much better coach and team.

It's going to be interesting to see how the quality of play is this season. Also, I don't want to see this happen....but with all the complaints of the NBA season being "too long", I think it would be kind of a cool idea/tradition for the NBA to begin its season annually on Christmas Day with some marquee games, and maybe drag the playoffs out until the end of June/beginning of July. Or maybe start on Thanksgiving.....just a thought.

I am really curious why you say that. The deal seems to be very very similar to the last deal the owners offered. It cuts player's share from 57% to roughly 50%. It cuts player raises, and it cuts the ability to go over the luxury gap and cuts those teams options when then do. This is most of what the owners wanted. Why would this deal indicate the owners were lying about not making money - it sure looks like it demonstrates the opposite.

To me, what this deal says is the players way overreached on their last decline of the offer, and the bulk of the players told Fisher "Um, hey, not so fast, we support that deal you just turned down in our names".

Repped High Quality Post

it's true the season is a bit too long and demanding and should be shortened...however, instead of starting the season later i think the time frame should be the same (~Nov. 1 to ~Apr. 15) but they should make it 70 or 72 games instead of 82. that way, the season is still the same "length" but there are (hopefully) no more back to backs or 4 games 5 night scenarios. the season lasts just as long, but you cut out 10 games over the course of the year so players stay fresh and you get quality basketball without having to sit through an even longer offseason.

^ That's exactly what I think the NBA should do. Just compacting games into a smaller schedule (this season) might have the same effect as a full 82 would.

70 games with the same timeframe is perfect.

I'm just happy to get NBA ball back, whether it be 82, 66, or 50 games...I actually kinda think the shorter schedule may be good for this young Clipper team. If Vinny utilizes his players right (not necessarily a given with him), in terms of possibly limiting playing time for his starters on those back-to-back (-to back) night, thus keeping them fresh, I like our chances of making the playoffs. Of course, it all depends on what kind of team is constructed for the 2012 season...I think Neil and the front office will be on the lookout for those players that get cut via the amnesty clause.

Let's get it on, boys and girls!

Well said. News of the NBA deal made what was otherwise a very goog holiday weekend for me even better.

I'm really anxious to see if we can do anything significant in this abbreviated off-season. There might be some interesting potential FA pick-ups that result from other teams using the new amnesty rule. I would love to see us upgrade at the SF spot before the season starts, but for some reason, I have a feeling were going to start with 2011-2012 season with pretty much the same squad that ended 2010-2011 . . . which is actually ok with me.

First off, I'd like to laugh about blake's fb comment that "this must be how the guys in space jam felt when mike gave them their powers back." Now, as a 1st time sth, I'd like to ask others what they think willhappen with the scheduling. Have we lost too many games to simply pick up on the 25th as the schedule was, or will there be a redraw? Starting the season with Portland and a long home stand sounds too good to be true, although I do have quite an outfit ready in the case that they give us a Christmas game.

The players should have recalled the lawsuit against Minnesota today. They have to work fast if they want the season to be saved.
