How does this trade sound?..I think it makes sense personnel wise as well as financially.

Cassell and Maggette for Mike Miller and Stromile Swift?

Cassell is leaving at the end of the year anyways...might as well let him go and let Memphis buy him out...then he can go to Boston.
Stromile Swift is a DECENT big man....and his contract expires at the end of the year....

It's basically Maggette for Mike Miller....Thornton is like Maggette and should be better...and Mike Miller is the shooter we need....

I hate to trade Maggette or Cassell, and Cassell's leaving isn't quite a done deal...no matter how likely it is.

Mostly sounds good. Miller would be a good fit, and Swift would be a great pickup in the short run (would be nice to have that extra banger with Kaman and Brand down).

But trading away two starters sounds desperate and demoralizing. Also, would Memphis want Corey when they have Rudy Gay?

I've read the Grizz are shopping Mike Miller so it's perfect to deal Gette for him...The Grizz would want Gette because he could be free agent this summer. It's perfect.Isn't it?

I say go for it- the salaries seem to match. But I think Miller is only signed through next season. Another thing to consider is that since Maggette is opting out, you'd lose some of the salary cap flexibility in case you're looking at other options over the summer (e.g. Cassell and Maggette's salaries combined could be used to sign an All Star free agent).

We all buy into the Myth of Magette. Does he make his team better-no. When he gets the ball he crashes the boards with raw strength. The defense collapses on him because they know what he's going to do. He gets more offensive fouls than the rest of the team combined. He has no basketball IQ and makes a lot of bad decisions. What Corey has is star quality (I know I've said this a million times). He's a mediocre player who wouldn't start for and elite team but would be good off the bench. We all were hoping he'd improve his ball handling skills but he didn't. To play like he does he needs the ability to dish and spread the floor. If he played with as much skill as charisma ( he's got way more that Kobe) and he were on a good team he'd be one of the most popular players in the NBA. But.... unless we can get a good guy who's a long termer quickly without a lot of press, it's better to let him leave this summer otherwise we'd kill what little fan base we have.

We need a real PG, I'd just rather let Cassell go, try and resign Brand & Maggette and get Calderon.
