Gomes started 62 games at small forward for the Clippers last season. He's aware that the team is looking for an upgrade at the position.

He knew that free agent Caron Butler visited the Clippers on Monday night.

But Gomes said that if given the opportunity, he can "do better than I did last year," when he averaged 7.2 points and 3.3 rebounds and shot 41% from the field.

Gomes said the Clippers' desire for outside help was "understandable due to what our record was last year, due to expectations that they had.

"But I'm confident in myself that I can provide more than I did last year, and hopefully that'll be the case," he said.

Gomes would be better served as a back-up to Blake Griffin than as our starting 3. He's the living definition of tweener forward.

Yea, I think Gomes will be a decent back-up small-forward, he also played some power-forward for Min. So maybe we can use him there to at times. I read somewhere that he's actually more productive as a power-forward.

Once we use the amnesty clause on him, he can contribute all he wants...at the YMCA. lol

Amnesty Gomes pls. Then reinvest in another amnesty casualty. It's like that poker game, pass the trash!

He had a bad year because he played out of position and was asked to do things he simply wasn't capable of. If he's playing 3rd string SF or back-up PF, then he's an underwhelming role player, but that's not where he was in the rotation.

Perhaps the tragic irony was Olshey telling us that he preferred players who were 2/3's instead of 4/3's, and then went out and signed a tweener for $4 million.

telfair also averaged double digit for the twolves. stats on twolves shouldnt be taken into account of how good a player is, it's highly inflated.

you mean like how we are the "Clippers", and how we rave about our players scoring so much, but other teams and their fans say the same thing about us? lol

haha well played

I don't think Gomes is that bad of a player. Was he bad last year? Yes. Is he a bad player? No.

damn, that was funny but messed up at the same time. more funny. lol. but all joking aside, we could keep him as a backup to blake. he was a very reliable backup with the wolves and the celtics.

Good as a back up SF or starting SF on a bad team, but not what you want as a starting SF for a good team.

I was a fan of Gomes and was happy about the signing but he just isnt starting material, not just based on last year's performance.

that's what makes gomes even worse. he should have inflated his stats with all the opportunities he got on this injury riddle, young clippers team. but no he still sucks!

doesn't really matter what he wants. seems as if butler will sign with us pending on the CP3 deal. all in all, i really like gomes as a chemistry guy who motivates in the locker room. plus, he's a good teammate. a young team needs a guy like that around. but yea, he did suck it up last year lol.
