We got butler, we got billups. we matched the offer sheet for DJ, that's all great news. During the cp3 trade, we basically REFUSED to give up EJ. that's a good thing. now my question is, where the hell is the contract extension for EJ? We've said we want him here, EJ says he wants to be here. I have not heard any news on this, and it's starting to piss me off. Does anybody know anything about EJ's contract extension?

I am guessing since it seems Kaman is going to stay his final year with us...the money that gets freed up when he leaves will be used to give Eric an extension? My guess

I thought the plan was always to offer the extension after this season. He's a restricted free agent, so we will have the right of first refusal by matching any offer that comes in for him, just like DJ. With the rapid improvement of EJ over the past season and a potential All-Star pick this year, I can see him commanding quite a salary raise.

Yeah I mean it's gotta happen, we just have to let the pieces fall where they may first. Kaman's juicy contract may be holding it up right now.

we ll if we sign him to an extension now, it's not like he's going to be playing this season on his new contract. he'll still be on the final deal of his rookie contract, and when kaman expires, that's when his new deal starts... so idk if it really has to do with the kaman thing. BUT, as we saw this off-season, teams with cap are willing to overpay. I wouldn't be surprised if some desperate team offered EJ a max contract. That's why we should sign him now, at OUR price. I hope we hear something about it soon.

His offer will come shortly after the trade deadline, when any dust has settled... I'm almost hoping he doesn't make all-star this year so it'll be a little lower. Sorry EJ, nothing personal.

Yeah I don't know why I wasn't thinking like this. Ignore my response in another thread.

This where Gordon has to commit. If he's on the fence, or hints about FA, we better get moving on packaging him for CP3. Too much BS with this CP3 deal. Olshey made a stand against EJ, EJ better make him look good.

Clippers GM Neil Olshey said he intends to initiate contract extension talks with Eric Gordon now that they've upgraded at SF/re-signed DJ

Didn't he make some kind of indication last week that he doesn't want to be traded and wants to stay here for awhile? I know sources are worth as much as toilet paper lately but I thought I was hearing that here.

never said he doesn't want to be traded. he said he wanted to keep this thing together. Like I said, Boozer said the same thing before he left to Utah.

My point is that if he doesn't commit, trade him for CP3. Not saying he won't, just saying trade him if he's "wishy washy" about extending.

I agree if he resists extending this year... he definitely becomes more trade worthy.

I don't think EJ's going anywhere. This stuff will be dealt with once Kaman, Foye, and the Butler rental get ready to come off the books. It appears to me that this team is being built for 12, 13, and beyond. For now, the FO is probably happy that things seem to be working out and falling into place a little faster than that.
