Per Yahoo! Sports story he is mulling a comeback:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... urn_011212

Anyone think he might be just what we need? He is a great shooter and good defender, decent rebounder and has that Championship experience. Maybe Chauncey could convince him to come play for us and be that final glue big guy we need. He is a legit 6'11 (no not 7 foot, wah wah) and plays tough as nails, dont think there is anyone else available who would come close to him

Like I said in the other thread...

Sheed would be perfect on Clippers!

  • Plays DEFENSE!

  • Rasheed & Chauncey reunite since their Detroit days.

  • Rasheed was a teammate of Clippers assistant coach, Robert Pack, when they were the Washington Bullets.

  • Rasheed also is familar with Clippers assistant coach, Dean Demopoulos, who was the lead recruiter at Temple.

  • Most importantly, I don't have to see Cook shooting miss 3 pointers every touch he gets.

dont think a guy with man boobs and a gut is what we want. dude had a reputation of hovering the half-court line last time he played since he was so winded all the time.

I like it a lot!

Evans, Butler, Sheed wont take sh*t from nobody. The chemistry alone makes him so valuable to this team, not to mention his defense. I can see this team going very far in the playoffs with him on the team, not because of his talent but because of his leadership and intensity. every championship team needs some crazy vets ,and we can have two coming of the bench in Reggie and Sheed, they would backup dj and griffin, and cut all the minutes on cook( the cancer to this team, shows not heart on the court) Sheed could also be a perfect mentor to trey tompkins, he has the same game as sheed and built the same. Furthermore, he has many relationships with the people on the team like clipper richard said, reunite billups and sheed for ONE LAST RUN.

I agree, but:

  1. Sheed played bigger minutes in Boston. Here, he'd be our 4th big, and would fill Brian Cook's spot as a stretch big for just 10-15 minutes a game. Hopefully, that shouldn't tire him out.

  2. If he is in fact in such terrible shape that he can't play 10 minutes a night...well, frankly, I'd still take him over Brian Cook on this roster. Honestly, nothing can be worse than Cook.

Also one more thing: It'd be nice to have a big who can shoot over 60% from the line. (I don't care what Cook's numbers are, I'm not counting him here--only including Griffin, Jordan, Evans)

Depend on what conditioning he is on, I would take him. He'll be a perfect fit for us especially being our back up bigs. In all case, replace Brian Cook. If we did sign Sheed and he's on the same condition he was in Boston, let's say NBA final Smile.

'04 Pistons reunion tour... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!

In all seriousness, if he could get into the kind of shape to give us 10 good minutes a night, this would be an inspired pickup. And I can't think of anyone better for Trey to study under.

thats the thing we would only really be needing him for 10-15 per game which would be great.

He's not too old (37) so he could fill in as the backup center/power forward for us.

Exctly, he's not conditioned enough for such a packed season. + we need a 7 footer who can grab rebounds and plays D and stays inside and doesn't take shots away from anyone.

not to mention he doesnt fill a role that we're lacking. we already have a good handfull of big men that have his skill set. big man with an outside shot, which is pretty much it. he was not the sheed of old in his latter days - too winded/slow for legit defense, and instead of posting up he'd rather just chuck up a three. in fact, i think he'd make our 2nd team efficiency even worse (if that's possible).

i remember reading about a tidbit about when a reporter saw rasheed take his jersey off in the locker room - was surprised how incredibly soft and fat he was for a professional athlete.

Go for it we need toughness and Sheed would be a strong signing. We have players with his skill set but none of those players are ready to contribute whether it be Cook or Thompkins. He also gives us another options against the Dwight and Bynum type huge bulk players because regardless of his physical conditions Sheed is a smart basketball player and knows how to take bigs out of their games with his awareness and experience.

Completely behind this move to add him he wont be needed in a huge role on the team and will be solid compliment to Evans as Thompkins develops.

The NBA is indeed in a rather dire Need 4 'Sheed.

Twitter indicates he wants to join The Chicago Bulls.

Sheed is probably wanting to go to the Bulls via reports. Mike James & Rip Hamilton are on there ( two teammates from the championship team ). And I would imagine if Sheed did come back, he'd probably want to play for a team that has higher Championship capabilities than a team like us.

What if Shaq said he was going to make a comeback or Allen Iverson? How about Yao Ming? Would some guy make a post on here saying we should waive someone to sign one of them? Who cares, Sheed was over the hill 4 years ago or more. If we sign anyone it should be Keith Bogans.

Shaq or Yao would be great backups, lol. Sems like you can make all the ridiculous threads and posts you want, but if anyone creates or posts what you dont agree with you try to ridicule.

Rasheed would fit exactly what we are looking for, what is wrong with that?

Sheed would have to work out for the team and see how his conditioning holds up...a lot of our offense is transition points, and we need all 5 players to be running when the ball is rebounded or scored. That being said, theres no question the number one thing we are in need of is size, both for guarding players like bynum (which was just an utter mimatch last night no matter how u cut it) and for rebounding. We are like 1 big man pickup away from being a top 5 team in the NBA, the question is just who? And we can afford someone decent if we can move Mo williams. Dont get me wrong he is great, but too good of a player to be coming off the bench, and I trust foye to give CP or billups a rest for a while. So who can we get if we involve mo thats available?

How about we play Tompkins.... He's made nothing but good basketball plays every time I've seen him play. Only Rasheed Wallace I'd take is when he was playing for the Blazers
