Here's the word from the Times (which BTW also said there's nothing definitive yet regarding Cassell):
---
The normally talkative and vibrant Cassell was seemingly at a loss for words at practice Tuesday. "I don't know. It's getting to a point . . . ," he said, his voice trailing off.
"I'm being a professional about it. I've been a professional my whole career. I was taught that way early in my career with Clyde Drexler, Kenny Smith how to be professional in any situation or any crises.
"Our season has been depleted with injuries and injuries and injuries. Nothing is impossible, but if we won 15 straight games, we still wouldn't be in the playoffs."
Cassell said the sprained right wrist that has sidelined him for three games is still lingering and he is questionable tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers.
He is averaging 12.8 points and 4.7 assists in 38 games this season.
The Clippers haven't had a low-post presence the past two games and that could extend for a couple more.
Center Chris Kaman received an epidural shot on Tuesday to calm nerve inflammation in his back. Kaman has sat out seven of the last 15 games because of the back ailment and, before that, flu.
"They said I would be out a minimum of three weeks if I didn't get a shot," Kaman said. "So, hopefully, it won't be more than a week."
Coach Mike Dunleavy said Kaman's absence is tough to overcome.
"It's just huge for us" Dunleavy said. "There's not a center in the league he can't go against. He's the one guy on a nightly basis that you can throw the ball into the post and that he will either score or get double-teamed and he's another guy you can put in pick-and-rolls."
To help in the short term, the Clippers will probably sign Nick Fazekas to a 10-day contract.
Fazekas, a 6-foot-11 forward, was a second-round pick by the Dallas Mavericks in 2007. He was waived by the Mavericks to free up space for Keith Van Horn, a critical component Dallas' trade for Jason Kidd.
Fazekas spent much of the season with the Tulsa 66ers in the development league.
Tuesday was the one-year anniversary of Shaun Livingston suffering a dislocated left knee in a game against Charlotte.

| These injuries are just unbelievable. How can we have this much bad luck? Is Dan the only one of the team who has yet to have some sort of injury this season? Also Powell.....this is just crazy lol. |

| Yeah clipps04 it's true - I read that Dickau and Powell are the only Clippers to be available for every game this year. |

...kind of sad, isn't it? The good thing about this (?) is that this is an indictment on why we have the record that we have...bottom line. If we were healthy and playing like this, then I would be bald (stress) by now.
No worries, I can live with those circumstances...for right now. It happens to the best of them...but usually on a smaller scale.
Like I said on another post, I go into each game looking for improvements on individual play and I have to say, I like what I see in Thornton, Ross (playing better offensively the last 2 games), Brevin ( getting it together offensively), and Maggette ( playing smarter). . As long as I see improvement on individual play, I pretty much can live with that. A win is having my cake and eating it too. |

| I like Fazekas. He could be a viable backup to Kaman next year if he shows something. |

I Agree ClipperJoe...gotta look for improvements and consider the circumstances. |

Looks like Nick Fazekas is signed to a 10 day contract:
# Nick Fazekas is waived to make room on the Mavericks roster to accomodate the Jason Kidd trade -- Let's just say Fazekas won't be rooting for J-Kidd to make like Michael Finley did last year and finally win his first ring. Overall: Loser
# Fazekas is signed to a 10-day contract by the Clippers eight days later -- This story has a happy ending. Overall: Winner.
That makes two winners and three losers for those of you scoring at home. As I've been saying all year, the life is a rookie isn't all glitz and glamour.
