Congratulations, NBA owners.

This is why Donald T Serling no longer has a problem going over the salary cap and paying the luxary Tax. DTS is no longer worrying about how much he is spending on the Clippers. Clippers will sign at least 3-4 Max Players and DTS will go over the Luxary Tax in 2012-2013 and you can thank Los Angeles Lakers for DTS new Spending theory!!!

The Reason!!!

$3 billion!

You can rightly celebrate, because $3 billion is one heck of a haul to jerk from the players' side to yours, as is projected over the course of the new 10-year collective bargaining agreement.

But, um, how much are the Lakers " all by themselves " getting from Time Warner Cable for its new regional sports networks?

$5 billion.

I'd add a "Cha-ching!" sound effect, but no one is fitting $5 billion in any cash register.

That $5 billion is over 25 years " or it'll be merely $4 billion over 20 years if the future option isn't exercised. It has been widely and wrongly reported as less.

Let's pause and appreciate how much money one club, starting next season, will get per year all to itself just from local TV: $200 million ... when Forbes values the entire Milwaukee Bucks franchise at $258 million.

Donald has figured he is in Los Angeles and if he can get the CLippers to be a winning team. He will recieve a bigger TV & Radio contract as seen as his team is being extended a 1 hour Pre-Game show.

DTS Knows that the only real way to get a Multi - Billion Dollar Contract. Is to put a winner on the the floor.

So DTS is eyeing those Huge TV Contracts.

Forbes Magazine also said the Lakers are now worth $900 Million and the Clippers are Worth $368 Million. The Clippers are ranked 20th in total value in the NBA.

DTS loves to make money not spend it. But he has finally figured it out. He can make more money. If he spends money....

This boasts well for the future of the Clippers.

Superman most likely will also be a Clipper.

DTS spending is no problem anymore!!!!!!

What a hoax but who cares as long as our beloved Clips Win!!!!

Yup, 5 billion is a lot of money for Buss' alcoholic son who has his bartender friends scouting for him. Too bad time Warner is already regretting it. Who cares what the Lakers are getting. DTS is worth 3-4 times more than the Buss'.

Look at it this way:

The Lakers have the highest payroll in the league and are barely in the play-offs....They suck. Hopefully when old kobe is making 30 million dollars and holding the Lakers from rebuilding, the Buss' can swim in their time-warner money while pushing a suck-ass team.

The Buss' are spending the most money and it isn't paying off while the Clippers are spending about 30 million less and are the better team. Lakers fans can suck on that while they're boasting how much the sub-par team is worth. lol

How would I know? I don't know the guy. But what I do know is that you can't have 3-4 max players in this CBA. The Heat didn't have 3 max players in the old, cap friendly CBA. Those guys took a pay cut to form that team. If DTS didn't go over the cap then , he won't now. Very few teams, if any, are going to hit the luxury tax.

So to answer your question...It really doesn't matter. Owners are now going to be frugal with their money.

I disagree. If your getting 3-5 Billion Dollars you don't care about the luxary tax. You care about having a winner. Just like the Lakers arn't really concerned about the Luxary tax even under the New CBA. They just have to pretend to care. So they don't piss off the other Owners. Who arn't making as much. I think DTS sees the $$$. And will do the Same thing.. Think about it

1) BG will get a MAX Contract

2) CP3 Will extend a MAx contract

3) Caron Butler already 24 Million over 3 years

4) DJ 42 Million over 4 years

5) Mo Player option 8.5 Million next year

6) Billups is going to get more than the 2 Million he is being paid this year

7) Jones 1 Million

8) Evans 1.35 Million

9) CP3 18 Million this year

10) Foye 4.5 Mill

11) Gomes 4.5 Mill

12 Trey & Leslie togther 1.1 Million

13) Eric Bledsoe 2 Million and 3.8 Next Year

14) Kenyon Martin 2.5 Mill ????

15) Another Player ???? Maybe Superman

THe Clips will be over next year and willingly hoping for a huge TV Contract

Is there any rule in the new cba limiting a team to how many max contracts it can have, or is it just as long as you pay the luxury tax, go ahead have 3 or 4 max contracts?

If your willing to pay the high Luxary tax you can sign as many Max players as you like.

Please stop. You can only give out 1 one Rose contract on your team-read up on that. Furthermore, WTF makes you think we're getting a Clippers channel? The Heat, The Bulls, and other successful teams don't have their own channel.

Just stop...STOP.

hahaha I like that in your original post you say that we are "super man will MOST LIKELY be a Clipper." Most Likely?????? what on earth makes you think that this is the most likely spot for him?? he has said there are three teams that he would rather play for than ours.

You my friend must have found the best weed ever grown bc everyting youre saying is just dilusional hope. There wont be a clippers channel and there wont be a Dwight in a Clippers jersey unless there is some other, less talented guy named dwight that i havent heard of.

I still believe you can only go over the cap to sign your own free agents... You can't go over the cap to sign someone elses... So, if Superman comes here, it would have to be by trade since we won't have room under the cap to sign him as a free agent next year.

Well, going from here... to here... has certainly helped the Clippers' bottom line in the 13 seasons since the move up the road. SamMays is correct in saying that you can't go over the cap to sign an outside free agent; so Dwight Howard (or anyone else for that matter) would have to be acquired sign & trade if he wants his max money. Personally, I don't think it's going to happen, but it's always nice to add more depth to the bench, which is really the more pressing need. To bring up ClipperSam's point about TV contracts...remember that just last....

Yes,,because he is a billionaire and is too old to take it with him, he wasn't a billianaire when they played at the old Sports Arena. I think he finally felt how it was to be a winner in 2006 and I think at his age he realizes his time is drawing near. Now how much can he spend is up to Stern,,but remember Stern is his buddy and the one that got him to initially buy the Clippers.

Bulls have WGN and have had it for like 25 years or more which always has Bulls games on TV. I know its not like, your own channel but you get the drift.

The Bulls do have that WGN advantage, and they own a stake in Comcast SportsNet Chicago. Several teams either own a stake in or are co-owned with a regional sports network. That said though, the Clippers won't own their cable network anytime soon...maybe when the next TV contract negoitations up come with Fox, maybe the Clippers can ask for a stake in Prime Ticket, much like the Angels did with Fox Sports West, and the Texas Rangers did with Fox Sports Southwest recently.

Actually Donald Sterlings Net worth is around 500Million dollars not a billion.

And Donald Sterling has always spent money on the Clippers. He just always wanted those max players to be superstars and thats what he has now.

Also Donald Sterling is not friends with David Stern....he was actually friends with Jerry Buss who convinced Sterling to buy the Clippers in exchange with Sterling helping Jerry Buss to get into real estate.
