| Reports are that the Clippers and Sam have officially gone their separate ways and Sam is set to sign with the Celtics. The Clippers reportedly only paid a small portion of the prorated remainder of his contract for this year. So Sam eats the rest and tries to make up the difference in Boston. It's a sad day. I love Sam and wish him the best. If we could have only had him when he was younger and healthier. |

Yep it's official- bye bye Sammy:
---
Clippers Waive Guard Sam Cassell
The Los Angeles Clippers today waived point guard Sam Cassell.
In 38 games played this season, Cassell averaged 12.8 points, 4.7 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 25.7 minutes per game. In his 15th NBA season, Cassell had missed the last four games with a sprained right wrist while missing 12 games earlier in the season with a strained left calf.
“After weighing all of the options and after conversations with Sam we believe this is the best solution for this team,” stated Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor. “We know and appreciate the many contributions Sam made during the last three years, and we wish him nothing but the best.”
Cassell notched his most productive season with the Clippers during the 2005-06 campaign when he tallied 17.2 points and 6.3 assists while helping lead the Clippers to within one game of the 2006 Western Conference Finals. During the Clippers’ 2006 Playoff run, Cassell averaged 18.0 points, 5.8 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 33.7 minutes in 12 games played. |

Not even a report anymore, I just got a txt from the clippers:
"jMyLAC: Clippers waive guard Sam Cassell. Clips GM Elgin Baylor "we wish him nothing but the best"
Man, I think I'm gonna cry.Any chance he'll come back in a year or two?
I really liked Sammy. His motivation helped the team..
Ah, i just thought of another good time.
Someone I know saw Sam Cassell at a restaurant (The Cheesecake Factory in the Marina) and my friend knew I was a HUGE fan, so he asked Sam to Call me. He did. He called two times. I WASN"T HOME! So he called again and left a message on my voice mailbox. He basically thanked me for being a fan, etc. Sam actually waited. His car was ready for him and he still took the time to call me. This was in 05-06 i was REALLY elated when I got home and heard that message. My other friend lives next to him! and Sam always says hello to the person, whether its when he takes the trash out or just pulls out of his drivewayl.
Sam is a honestly an amazing person, and I wish him nothing but the best. I want to see him win wherever he goes, and I want him to coach for the Clippers one day.
Sam, I'm really gonna miss you!
Good Luck, Buddy! |

| I wish him the best and hope he finds what he is looking for. Thank you for the great 2005-2006 season ...couldn't do it without you. For some strange reason I think you will be healthy for the remainder of the season w/ the Celtics and a 4 leaf clover his pocket. Peace! |

| I have a big problem with Sam. I admit we couldn't keep him against his will but he's tanking the rest of our season. The team has worked hard this year and because of injuries hasn't done well. We now have to depend on Knight and Dicau to fill the void. He's letting down both his team and fans. |

I hate to bring up what's done but look what Sam said:
“I'm not doing it,” said Cassell in reference to walking away from what was left of his deal so that he could immediately go sign another. “I know for a fact I've done tremendous things for this organization. I've helped this organization have respectability in the city of L.A. – at least for a year – where everybody was walking around with their chests out and they can't tell me I didn't.”
how arrogant! |
