If he's on the block, we should really try and get him. I wonder what it would take.

I think if the y trade rondo, then I think Bledsoe and a 2nd rounder will get him.

I would love to have Ray on the team with CP & BG setting him up for threes.

Just imagine that lineup

CP3

Ray Ray

CB5

BG32

Just wait for the offseason when he's a FA.

Rondo is their best asset moving forward to rebuild the aging Celtics, Rondo is probably their best trade piece as well given his talent, his ability to now score the ball etc. Moving KG or Ray could net them some draft picks or young players which is what I think they need, however Bledsoe may not be the guy they want. REmember, if they have Rondo whose a young talented PG, they have Avery Bradley whose in his 2nd year out of Texas which is a farm for PG's, and they also have Keyon Dooling who plays PG/SG.

Only way we get him is through Free Agency...

We're over the cap. Allen makes 10 mil.

Bledsoe I think makes 1.5 million. You do the math. Plus, we're over the cap so we'd have to give up MO and Bledsoe to get him.

And before anyone asks, you can combine the trade exceptions with the trade to make it work.

Why would they trade Rondo? He's the only guy who doesn't need Grecian formula? Ray is OLD. Does he have how many years left? Trading Mo' and Bledsoe is nutz. Trading Mo' is nuts. When in shape, EB may be our only guy who can guard the likes of Thirty Point Parker.

I don't know what the Celtics want, not sure if they're going young or want to stay competitive now. If it's the latter, and Mo starts complaining, I'd say do it. Ray Allen brings the leadership, championship experience, clutch 3-pt shooting, and deadly free throwing that we lost from Chauncey. Not to mention he's still a fantastic athlete.

Ray would be a great addition, he works hard and is in good shape, definitely has a couple more good years in him, he was looking to move a few years back so quite likely one of the first to go from the big 3, if i was C's gm i wouldn't let rondo go, apart from injuries he is putting up all star numbers this season and he is a starting PG in this league and unlikely to fit with the clippers unless you trade CP3 lol

Only guy on Boston I want is Greg Stiemsma, dude is a HOSS. Block / Rebounding machine with GREAT size, would be MONEY for us on the bench and would give us the natural C we need off the bench. Kid could be starting there next year.

lets just wait for allen to land in the FA market. bledsoe is too much to give up imo since he is a cheap, high potential player. only true backup pg we have. allen makes too much right now. stiemsa wont be traded by boston for the exact reason u mentioned amnesty. he will be their future center. dont get me wrong, i like ray allen. hes a great shooter. hof player.

Unless Boston goes on a terrible losing streak, I don't see them gutting the team right now. I'd expect them to take one more (far-fetched but still remotely possible) shot at the Finals. Moving any of those three guys will effectively end their playoff hopes, doubt that their GM wants to admit to the fans that it's over until they've sold as many tickets as possible.

but Ray should be available to a contender for the midlevel or less this summer. We're one of the few he would consider for his last contract I would think...

Boston is in a 1-5 slump. If it continues till the deadline, who knows.

How much is our trade exception? Not familiary with the CBA. If we use our trade exception and trade Bledsoe to absorb Rays contract do we get hit with a penalty if we are over the cap?

I know the lakers are over the cap but they want to utilize their 6 million trade exception as well.

Not sure how it works.

Can't do that. You either get a player that matches the Trade exception, or you trade 2 player of equal value but THROW in the TPE as a "sweetener".

You can't combine a player and the TPE to match salaries in a trade.

Ainge may feel like he needs to hit the panic button on something but I've heard 0 rumors surrounding Boston at all. Only thing I ever saw mentioned was that Ainge would be open to trade Pierce, Allen or Garnett like a month or more ago to help keep Boston a playoff team.

Why trade for a player that we can just sign as a free agent.

Exactly, however the Celtics and Allen can look at it like this... Allen is old and is still a valuable player to have on your team. With his giant salary coming off the books they can re-sign him to a mid-level deal. Ray may choose this simply to stay with the Celtics, give them some cap relief and the Celtics would still be a playoff team. I am not sure if they have Bird rights on him or not but I would suspect the Celtics don't let him walk away at all.

Allen should not be a target of ours unless the Celtics make it clear he's not going to be re-signed at all.

right now the Celtic's are 15-15. If they continue to slump look for them to start trading Allen & Garnett for future younger players & draft picks. We can offer Mo Williams & Cook (expiring contract) for Ray Allen. They can put Williams at Shooting Guard to start with Rondo. Cook's contract will expire, so that would help them out a bit. Williams can still play.

yer C's will have a dud season if they make big moves now, trades most likely happen end of the season, they don't want to make the same mistake ala trading perkins mid year last season
