This is probably why they recalled Leslie. They are going to be short on players tonight if this is going down.

BOO!

id hate to get rid of one-man press 2.0 for a turnover prone, no defending, chucker.

jamal's an excellent guy off the court, though.

I don't like it. I don't think Crawford is a great fit, so Bledsoe is too high a price to pay. We get a more traditional 2 guard, but we'll actually get worse defensively. I don't know if that's what we need. Then again, the lack of a consistent scoring threat outside of Paul and Griffin has been a real problem and Crawford should take care of that problem. If there's one thing he does well, its score.

Man, I hope this isn't true. Crawford game is lacking this season. I've never been a fan of Bledsoe but he won me over in his limited time this season. We're giving a potential building block...Don't like it.

if you guys thought mo or caron was a ball-stopper, watch out for "wilt" crawford.

Jamal would be a great fit if he's willing to play off the ball which at his age... I'm sure he'd sacrifice. Bledsoe will thrive in Portland big time. It's actually the perfect system for him. I'd be happy for him but sad that he went. I think Crawford gives us another thing we need which is player that can create his own shot. Only CP3 and Griffin can do that now.

I like Bledsoe too, but he just isn't getting the minutes he deserves. And if we're all about winning now, then a move has to be made. Ray Allen is my first choice, but he's not available. I don't know who's out there.

he's never played alongside an elite point guard, all he needs to do is hit his open shots consistently unlike foye

and you just know that bled's takeover during last night's game caused portland to go all-in for him

Here are two things to keep in perspective guys.

  1. Bledsoe will never reach max potential behind CP3/Mo. If you really care about his career and him as a person you'd be happy dude is going to be a starter most likely in a system that caters to his playstyle under Nate.

  2. Gomes is getting shipped out as well. That gives us some cap flexibility. If Crawford bolts.. we can easily have 5-10 mill in cap if we don't resign players which allows us to get a SG like Ray Allen in free agency anyways.

but dont you think we need a perimeter defense > offense?

bled gave ellis fits last night.

crawford's gonna give him the old "ole!"

being a starter is overrated - bled would serve as a utility guy for us and our second unit.

i want him to shine, but put preference to him coming off the bench for us instead of starting for another team. besides, its gonna be up to him to search for that opportunity when he becomes a FA.

exactly and especially if the clippers resign chauncey billups which i think they will. Billups would be playing the back up point next year as we would try to get a legit sg

I agree Ekker but..... Bledsoe is NEVER going to get heavy minutes playing behind CP3/Foye/Mo. He may deserve them... but he won't get them. So his defensive impact is only for the short amount of time he is in games. If Bledsoe was a 6'3 player or something he would be our starting 2 guard. So unless the Clippers are willing to start Bledsoe at SG for the rest of his career... they are going to move him or let him walk eventually regardless. The Clippers want to go for the title NOW.

I like this deal, I hope they get it done. Doesn't solve our defense issues but it sure will make our bench more potent on offense.

Er- NO to this trade. Most of our problems are on defense, and now you're talking about trading away our best perimeter defender? Heck no. Besides, Crawford would be a rental as he can be a free agent after this season- unless he agrees to pick up his player's option for next season.

I don't really like it but we need to shake things up. Gomes contract going to Portland is a plus.

I guess our TPE is useless. We might as well have taken Ariza or Belinellin instead of TPE.

I actually think Cook's shooting will be used in the playoffs. Hope he's working on getting his shot back.

Teams are going to double Blake and there will be open shots.

Crawford is a dynamic scorer who can create his own shot. It would help us with our sets where we have no shot with the shot click running out. I do wish he would play more defense though. I guess Randy vote us our 'lockdown' defender now. Bledsoe wasn't going to play much with cp3 and mo in front of him. Good riddance, Gomes.

On an emotional level I say no. We get to get rid of Gomes! Bledsoe has great upside and I'm a big fan of his since he was a young pup last year I saw the greatness in him. On a logical level I say yes. Here's why.... Behind CP3/Mo Bledsoe will never max out his potential. Which means either he eventually walks as a free agent, demands a trade or we trade him when his value is higher. Either way we lose him in a couple years because obviously he's going to choose to be a starter somewhere else than be a 3rd guard here.

My only concern is Crawford walking. If he does though and we let guys like Cook go... I think we will have like 5+ mill in cap this summer in which case I'm sure we could get Ray Allen or another decent SG.

I really really hate the thought of losing Bledsoe after last nights performance. He's the only Clipper besides Reggie Evans and Kenyon Martin who plays with all of his heart every single time he's out there on the floor. At least we'd be getting rid of Gomes.. i guess you take the good with the bad in anything... sigh..

terrible trade. crawford is essentially a rental since i doubt he will exercise his player option for 5 million next season when he can make more by testing FA. he is not a good defender. he is another streaky player, just like mo. ebled is the only pure backup pg we have. unless you feel comfortable having crawford and mo hog the ball while cp3 is out resting, then fine make the trade.like i said, use a tpe instead. we arent going to win a title this season. especially not with vdn. we will get to the playoffs and maybe end up in the wcf but a title run is unlikely. just being honest. our season to win a title is next season. we shouldnt make trades just for the sake of making a trade. just saying.

Yeah, but you could always amnesty Gomes next season. Bledsoe is becoming that defensive stopper we need. It'd be foolish to trade him unless it's for a core player who will be here for a couple seasons.

Crawford is a dynamic scorer who can create his own shot. He will help with the shot clock running down. Wish he played better defense though. I guess foye is our lockdown defender now. Good riddance Gomes

^Bledsoe is not a defensive stopper. He is a 6"1 PG, that does not qualify has a defensive stopper. Yes he played well against an undersized 2-guard in Monta, but against normal SG's bledsoe will get overpowered. He is a PG who should defend against PG's, but he is not going to play enough sitting behind Paul. As soon as we got Paul, Bledsoe became expendable.

no way eric bledsoe is gonna be able to stop the likes of kobe, he's a good defender but lets be real. Crawford doesn't play any d but neither does ray allen, and these are the only options out there, its a good trade

exactly. defense wins championships. bledsoe could be a factor in the playoffs. yeah we will score more with crawford, but what good will it do if people are going to get by crawford and mo constantly. both are below average defenders. getting rid of gomes isnt S***, because like david said, we can amnesty him. not liking this trade.

This is the day in the life of a typical playoff team that is not quite there yet...

Gotta get used to it, because lets face it teams do trades for rental players to try and get them over that hump... Happens in every sport, and i don't mind this deal..

Bledsoe isn't going to get much play here, hes far from a defensive stopper and the only reason he has so much energy and seems like an amazing defender is well because of the minutes.. Compare how much hes played compared to every other player, like ellis who puts up minutes like no other.. Of course hed be fresher and antaganoizing Ellis... It's a decieving situation, and while Bledsoe has the potential to be great, we have Chris Paul and im tired of seeing where potential could get us.. Deanadre Jordan is one potential too much already....

Our defense will not be made or broken by keeping or losing Bledsoe anyways..

Hoopsworld: The Los Angeles Clippers' search for a shooting guard doesn't seem to be coming to an end anytime soon. The team has been looking for backcourt depth since Chauncey Billups' season ended with an injury, but league sources have told HOOPSWORLD's Eric Pincus that talented, young point guard Eric Bledsoe is not going to be dealt unless the team is blown away by a proposal. As previously mentioned, league sources have told HOOPSWORLD's Alex Kennedy that Portland Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford won't pick up his option this summer. And since he's on the verge of becoming a free agent, sources....

Bledsole in spurts is ok...Bledsole starting or leading the 2nd unit and running an offense is light years way. Packaging Gomes is a big, big plus, than we can use the amnesty on Mo next year if necessary....and IF Crawford opts in, all the better, if not we have cap room for some other FA's.

100 percent agreed ekker. this team is a few moves away from being a legit contender. out of the last 6 games, bledsoe has been the spark to help us get back into games in 4 of them. every good team needs someone like him. again, we cant make moves just for the sake of making moves.

I don't like the deal at all, I like bledsoe's intensity that he brings off the bench, and I think a year or two under Cp3, he's gonna be a monster.

Unless the Blazers are adding another piece in the trade that interest the Clippers, just J. Craw is not gone do it for me.

YOu are correct,,sir.

I think with Eric vs Randy we weigh a 3 point shooter whe he is hot with FOye,,vs a runing slashing can drive you nuts guard that runs at 200% with Bledsoe. I would trade the above too.

The thing is,,we need something but I hope the FO doesn't do something stupid just to say we tried. i am a Dodger STH and that is the mantra there,,do something even if it is stupid,,just to say we tried.

How many of those 4 games did we win??...them taking Gomes is huge and pushes the trade in our favor whether Crawford stays or not.

RT from Ramona to my ? - "Yes, they are talking. But Crawford likely needs to waive his player option for next year to make Clips comfortable"

Basically same deal as Mo when we traded Boom for him, Crawford needs to pick up his PO and stay through next season if we're giving up Bledsoe. Sounds like it's just riding on Jamal's decision and Portland is ok with the deal.

EDIT: Oops didn't see that HW article above, same info from Ramona.

E bled is a very important piece to our team, as we saw last night. he's basically the only player we have that can give us a quick burst of energy and shift momentum of the game off the bench, next to reggie evans.

^^^ Ok, that makes sense. Didn't think they would give up Bledsoe for just a 2.5 month Crawford rental. My gut feeling is that this deal doesn't get done. The lure of being an unrestricted FA this offseason is going to be too much for Crawford to give up.
