Olshey is downplaying possibility of trade. Something like: We'll only make a move if it's a slam dunk, we're not going to jump the gun and blow a chance to get a lot better this summer.

More than likely playing head games with Portland but I wouldn't be surprised if we just stand pat at this point.

Article up on LA times on Neil, pretty much indicating that no moves are expected since he wants to hold on to the teams "assets"..Long time Clipper fan, rarely post here, but I have to let my frustrations out somehow. This team needs a fucken shake up. It's not like they just started playing poorly..8-10 since Billups went down, and like 2-3 wins out of those 8 they barely pulled out wins against injury plagued teams w/ bad records. They need to roll the dice, before Billips went down the clippers matched up real well against OKC, let's not give up this easily. The west is wide open, even after these horrible 18 games, they still in 5th place, 2 games behind 3rd. Not convinced the Lakers are "OK", c'mon they've had some fucken luck, both games against Minnesota recently were without Love, Miami without Bosh, today Memohis without Gay. why does it feel like they've thrown in the towel for the season??

What about Mo, Randy, 1st rounder for Wallace and Crawford

or

Mo, Randy, Bledsoe, Cook, Gomes for Wallace, Crawford, Felton

I really hope we don't lose bled, i really think we've only begun to scratch the surface of what this kid will become. I still believe he is not more than 85% recovered and if he's more than that, he's just playing cautious, which IMO, is a safe good call for the time being.

The shake up that this team needs will be him when he starts to play at full speed, which I predict will come right around the playoffs.

When that happens, when he can play super aggressive and not commit the fouls on the regular, I could see him quickly jump up into a top 10 PG, and this could make for a real interesting potential strategic move:

If that happens, I think it would be very interesting to let Bled's size, speed & strength significantly slow the opposing team's starting PG defensively while running most of the offense on the other end through MO & BG with an inside/out game(BG's got to spin off the defender instantly when he gets it like last year, not after a few dribbles). Then bring CP3 off the bench to absolutely OBLITERATE, and I mean COMPLETELY DESTROY the opponents' backup PGs. He can run pick & rolls/alleys with either DJ or K-Mart or pops with K-Mart, maybe even Bobby. Let him shoot more on that squad as well with Reggie grabbing all his misses, makes perfect sense to me.

Neil is a smart guy, and smart guys like to keep their bases covered. I don't see him moving Bledsoe prior to CP3 signing a long term extension. Bledsoe is the back up plan in case CP and Mo decide to leave especially considering we don't have any 1st round draft picks for a while.

This is BS. F you, Neil. We don't have CP3 on a long-term contract and you want this team to keep declining?

Sources confirm: Lakers, Wolves and Blazers discussing three-team deal. Michael Beasley to LA, Jamal Crawford to MIN, Steve Blake to POR.

Other players and picks will likely be added to the LA-MIN-POR three-team deal. Those are just the names I'm hearing right now.

Oh crap! If this happens, not only will we lose out on Crawford, the Lakers will get better.

^ Has to be a PG in there somewhere. It's the lakers biggest hole and they're giving up the only credible PG they have. My guess is that Felton's involved.

If Bledsoe is the backup plan for the year after next when CP3 leaves, then this franchise is in deep, deep trouble. The only plan should be for now... Win now...

If we lose Paul, Blake will probably be on the bus with him and we'll be rebuilding from scratch. Bledsoe isn't going to keep this team in the top half of the league... And this is no disrespect to Bledsoe, who I like.

Olshey has said it here: www .latimes. com/sports/la-sp-clippers-fyi-20120314,0,375861.story (I'm not allowed to post urls yet Sad )

and in a few other interviews that I can't seem to find right now.

I for one agree with him keeping the squad as it is. I def think we will be playing a lot better as the season goes on, and I like the idea of future proofing our team.

^^^ Looks like Crawford is going to the T-Wolves, so I think this deal is pretty much off the table for us.

Jason Quick ‏ @jwquick

Sorry been trying to tend to a family matter, but agent Andy Miller (Crawford) says deal with Minn/LAL is close to being done. Blake to PDX.

Oh well. As I said yesterday, my strong gut feeling is that we do not make a trade right now.

That deal is close to being finalized, per Crawford's agent, so guess we can close this thread.

Beasley will not help LAL much, considering he doesn't really address their biggest hole at the PG position and trading away Blake certainly makes it worse. He'll give them a decent scoring punch off the bench but he's no Lamar, he doesn't do the little things. But he does have Lamar's diva attitude... that's going to be one mess of a locker room.

As for Crawford... eh. Would've been nice but not on Portland's asking price so I moved on.

Please don't trade Bledsoe. The limited amount of time we see him play, he always bring energy.

I agree. Bledsoe made a statement tonight to the Clippers front office. If Neil trades him anyways... I'm going to send his ass so much hate mail.

^I think we know how much Neil values Eric, other wise Crawford would be playing tomorrow for the Clippers.

^^^ I don't know about that. I think it was more that the Blazers didn't want to take on Gomes contract. I think that's what held up the deal.

LAC wasnt willing to give a 1st rounder. so POR passed on us for that reason & gomes contract. POR isnt thrill about getting S.Blake but thrill about the LAL 1st rounder. if we just included the pick we would have JC.

based on how badly the blazers are playing, we might be able to get someone like wes matthews for cheap. i wouldnt give up bledsoe. hes a good backup pg. the whole win now philosophy that people mention for this season is somewhat flawed. we have too many gaping holes to cover. we need to add to this team, not subtract from it. i see some people saying give up foye, bledsoe and even mo. or "lets trade for courtney lee" i like courtney lee, but hes on a playoff team. hes an integral part of the rockets bench. they will not trade him. and if they did the asking price would be too high imo. im hoping for a move, but not at the expense of bledsoe or mo. thats why a carlos delfino makes sense. hes expendable now that the bucks acquired udoh and ellis. plus dunleavy jr, ilyasova have been balling. a tpe and gomes would net us delfino. and he would help our team out.

we get rid of gomes who wouldn't say HELL YEAH! to that, sorry bledsloe but you are just inefficient, you make nice steals but you compound good play with careless t/o on O, can't stand that especially from the PG

I'm glad this trade didn't actually happen. Young is just as good as Crawford & Bledsoe give us a nice spark off the bench.

And even though this is isn't really basketball related, Gomes seems like a descent guy who works hard. I know most people hate him but I think he's good guy to have on the team. Maybe a Luke Walton type? LOL

Hard worker, great voice in the locker room, and for all we know, could end up being one of those random sparks off the bench during the playoffs if we ever needed him!

I got a good kick out of this thread. Everyone assuming that Neil was sitting on his hands, or that he was lying about not making a move unless it was a slam dunk. Olshey for exec of the year!
