Time to rest the starters for the rest of the regular season, the league won't allow us to get the second seed with all these calls RefKC is getting.

Nice! PHX doing us a favor, but the Dallas lost hurts a little. No biggie though.

Now the question is if the Thunder can lose to another team besides us and if we can win out. The rest of the schedule for the Thunder looks pretty weak. I wouldn't count on the Pacers for anything. They have regressed badly and look like a lottery team.

Thus the Thunder want to win a game or just want to continue KD's streak????

I don't think we need to rest our starters in a game or have them in time restrictions. My reasons are: 1. if we rest them they might get rusty come playoff time, i want them to stay hot when we start the playoffs 2. Docs still needs time to settle his rotations especially now that reddick is back after such a long time. 3. We still need to keep winning or much better win the 2nd place in western conference.

While I agree the door still appears open for us to nab the 2 seed, do we really want a matchup with the Suns or the Mavericks (Or Grizzlies, although it's looking more and more unlikely by the day). If it gets us away from Golden-State, then I'd take my chances with anyone who ends up in the 7th seed... but if we have a 3/6 matchup with Portland, I'd take that any day over the Mavs. I think the best mentality to have is to try and win every game, and then by the last day or two of the season, sit our starters if we want to drop to 3rd/play our starters if we want to climb to 2nd. The great thing is that we have the opportunity to pick and choose who we want our first round matchup to be IF we put ourselves in that position (by surpassing the Thunder in the seedings).

We want HCA advantage against the Thunder. We will face whoever we will face. There is no such thing as an easy first round matchup in the West.

Thunder plays the Kings on before us so even if we win, they'd have a 1/2 game against us.

If we win on Wednesday yes. It is 2-1 right now.

Also, home court is very important. We are tied with Miami and are 2 games ahead of Indy (in lost column for both) for NBA finals home court.

No team will have it easy in 1st round (save for San An. They are playing off the charts).

Of course, they might lose to the Kings (not much chance of that happening though).

Best chance of the Thunder losing post-Clippers game is probably one of the two games vs. the Pelicans.

True, but still so frustrating. That being said, we had some games we did not deserve to win (a couple of the Dallas ones, the minnesota game) so it evens out I suppose.

We need to be rooting for GS to win their way into the 5 seed. This makes it tougher on Houston and ensures we won't play one of our toughest match ups in the first round.

And of course root for Memphis to miss playoffs completely which is starting to look good. I don't mind if they end up the 8th seed, that's actually probably good for us as they'll at least beat up on S.A. before getting knocked out. But if we win our way into the 2 seed, it would suck if it's Memphis.

Main thing for this team is just get the 2 seed if possible, gotta expect to win first round regardless of opponent and that 2 seed gets a game 7 against OKC at home.

Ideal finish if we get the 2 seed

1 SA

2 Clips

3 OKC

4 Houston

5 Portland

6 GS

7 Dallas

8 Mem

Ideal finish if we get the 3 seed

1 SA

2 OKC

3 Clips

4 Hou

5 GS

6 Portland

7 Dal

8 Mem

I think the Suns are a tougher matchup than Dallas or Memphis. The Suns can give the Thunder trouble. The Spurs own the Griz. I think the Suns can give them trouble too.

Nope. We gotta keep winning. We need to finish with a better record than Miami and Indiana.

Yes, I'm looking ahead but it will matter in the finals.

Lets go Brooklyn. Hold on to it. 1:23 to go up 4. Home-court NBA finals.

Lets go Kings (Never thought i would say this). Early vs OKC.

I wish we could have grabbed Jason Thompson. He was in trade rumors and they needed a third team to pick him up. He is a C. Could of ran a bench with

Collison

Crawford

Granger

Davis

Thompson

UPDATED

1-6 seems to have settled in. GSW will overtake Portland and our last game will decide who we face. If we beat portland we face them if we lose to them we face GSW.

memphis 3-0 vs Dallas(one remaining matchup), 3-0 vs Phoenix(one remaining matchup)

dallas 0-3 vs Memphis (one remaining matchup), 1-1 vs Phoenix (one matchup remaining)

phoenix 0-3 vs Memphis (one matchup remaining), 1-1 vs Dallas (one matchup remaining)

4/12 phoenix @ Dallas

4/14 memphis @ phoenix

4/16 Dallas @ memphis

all 3 teams will reach 48 wins. Dallas has 3 tough games left but they are at 48 wins already. Phoenix is at 47 with one easy game left. Memphis is at 46 but has two easy games left. The difference will be those 3 games and tie breakers.

all three teams will finish with 49-50 wins. This will set a record for the most wins to miss the playoffs (GSW in 2008 won 48). I was hoping that all three would win 50 wins but that is mathematically impossible now.

This would be good for a couple reasons. 50 wins symbolically is a big deal in the NBA. Once you hit 50 wins you start to be considered a championship contender. Our team has been on a great run the last few years yet we barely cross the 50 win plateau for the first time in franchise history LAST year. If the 9th place team would have finished with 50 wins that would put significant pressure on the NBA to at least begin the conversation of changing the playoff format. Atlanta will lose more games than it won and it will make the playoffs, yet one of these three teams will miss out.

The other reason why I wanted this is because it is not fair that Miami will have a cakewalk to the finals beating up on weak teams. Imagine if the Clippers were to face the hawks, chicago and Indiana on their way to the finals?!!!

My solution would be leave the conferences alone. If naturally the top 16 teams end up in the playoffs fine. BUT in scenarios like this year I would take the non playoff teams with better records than playoff teams to have a one game or 3 game type playoff. for example:

Memphis vs washington

minnesota vs atlanta

if memphis and minnesota win their way in, they are inserted into 7th and 8th in the east.

^ I like that format, but you'd have to guarantee at least a top-4 slot to each division champion (as they do now) to satisfy the NBA's "national interest" agenda.

A one-and-done mini-tourney to get in would be great for their ratings, too.

Warriors are shamelessly tanking to play us right now.

We're talking about NBA players here. Gambling aside, I don't think there's ever a single NBA player that has tried to lose on purpose. They're simply too competitive for the possibility to enter their minds.

JQuick32

Tanking for seeding happens all the time in the NBA. I remember the Mavericks idiotically doing it to draw the Warriors instead of us in '07. We tanked to get the Nuggets in '06. The teams will never openly admit to doing it, but it happens.

Tanking is done by resting players not but not trying or purposefully losing. Gsw didn't tank here.

We are officially facing GSW. Bring it on, we ain't scared of them cats.

Players themselves don't tank-- coaches & management do by sitting (er "resting") players. Obviously GSW was trying to win this game as it is actually pretty important to them not to keep dropping-- possibly even out of the playoffs. Also, there's no reason they'd want to face the Clippers over the Rockets-- they actually matchup with the Rockets better since perimeter defense is the Rockets' weakness (esp. with Beverly out).

I for on am ecstatic though because I want no part of Portland. They are pretty much the same team as GSW except they have a much better coach and a true all star bigman. GSW is in shambles right now because they don't know what to do with Lee, who is sort of in the same place Reddick was for us two weeks ago. They are also under a ton of pressure due to the the recent issues with Mark Jackson. I think they are by far our easiest opponent in the first round and they'll be lucky to win a game. My only worry right now is that they'll keep dropping and we'll get one of the other three teams, which are all tougher outs even though our reg season records don't show it. Phoenix especially is scary as hell because they have nothing to lose.

If this is true and the warriors are slipping, then I'm excited. Sucks that we don't have home-court advantage against OKC but who knows what we can do with a fully healthy roster (and maybe they'll get knocked out in the first round).

Why would you think GSW are tanking to face us? If they wanted to lock up the series vs us they would win. Now they are only 1 game ahead of the suns/mavs and could very well fall to 7th or 8th seed.

If Pheonix wins tonights and the Warriors lose to the Lakers after playing a close one last night. They could be all the way down to the 7th seed ahead of Dallas. Then Dallas and Pheonix....

If we get Dallas or Phoenix and OKC gets GS that's gold for us. Even better, Memphis gets in at the 8th seed and beats the **** out of SA for a few games.

Dallas or Phoenix will be utterly outclassed by our team, either would be easy series for us and those teams know it too. GS has the star power to go head to head with us, we still beat them but a much tougher matchup.

So basically we root against GS and root for Pho and Dallas.

I think it's become totally advantageous if Memphis gets in. The initial concern for us was that we'd match up with them 1st round. I think that's nearly impossible now - so for the Grizzlies to get in, they'd be doing us a favor by beating on either OKC or the Spurs.

It's been posted before and I'll post it again to summarize - Spurs vs Suns/Dallas, OKC vs Grizz, Clips vs Trailblazers, Hou vs GSW. In an extremely difficult conference, this would be the best possible scenario for us. Whatever happens, we've shown time and time again that we can dig in defensively and light the score board up. The only obstacle to the WCF and beyond is ourselves.

edit: I say we play our starters light minutes tomorrow; work on that bench chemistry and figure out some Crawford lineups that still utilize DC to the fullest.

If they're in, I'd like to see them in the 8-spot. I think we have a decent chance of beating OKC straight up, but I think we could use a little help against the Spurs. Also, if they pulled an upset, it means we wouldn't see them until WCF instead of the second round.
