Okay, not really a clipper thread, just curious what y'all would've done in this situation.

Last night I'm eating with friends at BJ's, watching the heat/Thunder game. We're talking sports, and one dude, who I had never met before last night, who didn't really watch basketball, tried to chime in. We were talking about the Lakers and Kobe being old, and how much time he has left. He goes on to say "Look at Shaq, I'm surprised he's still playing, he's still on the Heat". lmaooo, then he went on to say "Kobe is old, he's playing with a mask now"

*facepalm*

No one at the table called him out, maybe we were all to drunk to care, but inside, I was pointing and laughing at him...hard.

Dude,,sometimes you just have to let it go.

You know I am a really super easy going type,,getting to be this old takes work and dedication. So I can let almost all things in life go. One thing that I cant let go though is my sports teams and I have gotten into it with my fair share (but when you age it is mostly verbal)and when i was younger (probably like the average age here) I really would go nuts and have jumped people before (and have some scars to prove it) for just the wrong thing being said. But one does mellow with age (and fear of being capped) and I think if that person you described wasn't a dick and just talking,,I may have corrected the Shaq thing but in a constructive manner.

lol, I was gonna correct him on the Shaq comment (considering we were watching a Heat game, I thought It was especially hilarious), but then he busted out with the Kobe comment almost right after and I kinda just felt bad for him. I understand trying to fit in when having a sports convo, trying to throw some knowledge out there, but sometimes it's better to just be quiet and sit with a smile on your face.

No disrespect to any on here but why is it that 'Lakers' is mentioned in every thread? Can't we have a sticky of Bash the Lakers and their fan thread? Seriou question is serious. And to answer the OPs question, No! I would not have called them out. No biggie. I see similar interactions regarding the Angels. Most don't enen know who the manager was before Scocia.

lol, this wasn't a lakers thread, we just happened to be talking about Kobe because the Laker/Grizzly game was up next and the group was pretty much evenly divided between Laker fans and Clipper fans

I like Jay Mohr. I think he's funny as hell but dude needs to sober up when doing his standup. Saw him 3times at the Improv and the man was cracked out every time.

You should have called him out. He'll know not to make things up just to "fit in" next time. You actually did a bad thing by not calling him out.

Wait, how do you even know that the guy being discussed here was a Lakers fan? Cause he was a moron, so its safe to assume he's a Lakers fan? Lmao even Lakers fans bash Lakers fans.

lol, I think calling him out would've just made things more awkward. We were drunk, having fun, ya know? I think it was better to just let it slide. Remember, it was my first time meeting the dude, and I'll probably never see him again. lol, let his real friends deal with him.

Actually, the dude in my story wasn't a Laker or clipper fan. He said himself he doesn't really follow basketball, but the Kings are his team.

Poor guy, probably thinks Vlade Divac is still on his team at 44 years old.
