Clippers' Evans fined for making obscene gesture

By Official release Posted Mar 30 2012 3:36PM

NEW YORK -- Los Angeles Clippers forward Reggie Evans has been fined $25,000 for making an obscene gesture, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.

The incident occurred with 4:23 remaining in the second quarter of the Clippers' 97-85 win over the New Orleans Hornets at Staples Center on March 26.

...Whaaaa???

Anyone know what this is about?

What I do know is it is a good things we fans don't get fined because I would owe about 3 million dollars for this year alone,,but in my defense , my gestures are only directed at the referees.

Reggie Evans Silenced A Heckler With A Simple Slip Of The Middle Finger The heckling began the moment Reggie Evans stepped out onto the floor to start pregame warmups.

"Hey Evans, you're the reason the Sonics left Seattle!"

Reggie looked around, but the shifting colors of fans entering the Staples Center made locating the voice a chore. He returned to the layup line.

"Hey Evans, I got a pair of danglers you can grab!"

Reggie winced. He'd only just restored his friendship with Chris Kaman, one severed by a single regrettable act so many years ago. The pair had been thick as thieves before that, competing in summer leagues together and sharing a common interest in enchiladas and the Japanese baseball manga Major. He would be facing Kaman's team this very evening, in fact, and Reggie's fingers tingled.

The heckler continued his barrage of abuse after the game tipped off. Reggie wasn't even in the game, and knew if he turned around to locate the source of the shrill-but-unmistakably-male voice he'd simply invite more invective. The first quarter passed to the second, and Evans finally got the nod from Vinny Del Negro to spell Blake Griffin. The voice rang out again after Evans picked up an offensive foul:

"Evans! Leave running over people to Lindsay Lohan!"

Reggie pressed on, though, and tipped in a rebound a few minutes later-drawing a foul in the process. He loped to the top of the key, eyes scanning the crowd with a focus he'd learned from late nights playing Battlefield 3. The heckler opened his mouth, then fell silent as his eyes met Evans's.

Reggie raised his middle finger, wiping it across his face in a grotesque and somewhat erotic manner, his eyes never leaving those of the man who'd tormented him so much that evening. It was a nonverbal message, but one he tried as hard as hard as he could to transmit telepathically.

It worked, and Bill Simmons wasn't heard from for the rest of the night

That fan got kicked out for throwing peanuts at the Hornets bench, this has got to be a different fan rooting for the opposition.

YOu know,,I don't recall seeing it either,,I may have been busy giving the refs the same salute,,but I do remember hearing a loud mouth saying something,,I hear him say "Reggie" and some other choice words and I doubt i was anywhere near him,,but I could hear him. Sor tof like if the crwod is hushed you can pretty much hear Clipper Darrell everywhere.

Haha! I saw Reggie do that and I thought it was to a ref!

On a serious note... $25,000?

WTF?

That's what Mike Brown got for going at a referee in Utah. So a player slyly flipping the bird from the FT line is as bad as a coach screaming and running at a ref all puffed-up?

Some serious bullsh*t!

Anyone else hear the rumor that Reggie and Kenyon are clashing in the locker room?

I noticed Reggie being a bit reserved in our last win. He's usually the first off the bench waving a towel, and even after Blake's dunks he was the only dude that remained sitting. And he looked a bit upset.

BTW David J Stern is the reason why the Sonics aren't in Seattle. What happened to that team was a load of bull and they deserve a new team. Send the Hornets to Seattle IMO

hahaha, I can't believe no one noticed him doing that. I thought it was hilarious when I saw it. It was so obvious he was flipping the bird. I thought he was doing it towards someone on the bench though. Joking with a teammate or something.

According to the LA Times today,,Reggie said he was not flipping the bird at a fan,,he was flipping it at Blake and DJ.

I guess the three of them have some running joke they have during practices (when they get them) about free throwing and calling each other cupcake. When Reg was walking to the line to shoot his free throws the both said something to him about "make the shot cupcake" and he flipped them off (jokingly of course). He said he would never dishonor the game by flipping off a fan.

Blake's Kia ad where he is spinning the BBall on his finger would be a $50k in the NBA.

I hope not. Reggie is awesome and seems to put the guys in a great mood with his enthusiasm. I don't want anyone ruining that. Reggie seems to get along with everyone (from what I see on the outside) so I don't know if K-Mart is clashing with just Reggie or with others as well.

(speculation post)

In Sunday's LA Times, Reggie responded to the online rumor that he and Kenyon were clashing. He said it was very false, and that he and K Mart are good friends... good enough that K Mart recently invited Reggie over for dinner at his mother's house.

Everything is well. Smile
