He is not finished. Luckily he is young, and can hopefully resurrect his career, starting next season.

We'll see. I mean he will play, but it's unknown if he'll ever be the same again...

I will never forget the statement made by someone on the surgical team that operated on his knee. " That was the worst looking mess they have ever tried to fix on somebody's knee." Worst looking mess is fixable enough for someone who is just going to go through their life walking around. But will the repair of this "worst looking mess" ever allow an athlete to return to the hightest levels of play required in the NBA. The surgery was successful. But what will that ultimately mean for Shaun? We won't really know until about next November. He may end up a shooting guard unable to be explosive enough to play PG.

Not to blow my own horn but I think I can shed a little light on the situation. I've been an Emergency MD since the early 80's (that's why I'm such a smartass) I worked at Centinela Hospital (now Centinela -Freeman). Lombardo of the Lakers and Daly used to answer my phone calls but I haven't talked to them in over 10 years. I used to do wet readings of x-rays for the Lakers (but I never could talk to the players). I've talked to 4 of my partners and 3 orthopedists with a total of about 150 year's experience. I've reduced knees ankles shoulders and anything else you can think of. I DID NOT get information from Lombardo or Daly but there is a grapevine. No one has seen a knee this F***ed up. This injury should not have happened. Posterior Cruciate ligament tears are so rare that there aren't good numbers to give a prognosis. Maybe since this injury is so rare that we really don't have good numbers it heals better than we think. Will strengthing his quads help probably. As I mentioned world class athletes have a way of fooling us. Get well soon li'l bro'

Let's hope that Shaun will show a recovery you haven't seen before either toohip. Hopefully all that extra strength training he's doing on his legs will prevent this from happening again.

    Doctor's in da house! Wink

Darius Miles hasn't played for Portland for two years, and now they are trying to get the NBA to declare his knee injury career ending so they can take his contract off the books to increase their cap space. Career ending injuries do happen. Just because Shaun can walk around doesn't mean his knee will ever hold up to the rigors of playing in the NBA. Trust me, the Clippers are looking for the best guard they can find to draft in a couple of months. Just in case.
