Bynum is turning into a beast. Not only can he dominate inside, but his shooting has gotten much better. He may be better than Howard right now, and I am not the only one to think so. Gasol is a star, and when he gets his act together, those two are an incredible duo.

Sessions was a huge pickup for them - a much better option than they have had at PG for several years. Even Artest has looked pretty good recently. He can still play some great D and score now and then.

If Kobe comes back and plays within the system (no hero ball), they can beat anyone in the West. I don't see us being able to beat them in a 7 game series without a big guy to check Bynum. DJ is good off the ball, but he just can't handle Bynum right now (and very few people can).

Thank goodness they didn't get Paul.

Bynum is finally delivering on his potential. He's become a great player to go with Kobe and Gasol... That makes the Lakers a very tough out in the playoffs. And with Kobe out, that is going to make his confidence swell...

If Kobe realizes they don't have to be all about Kobe to win, that will make the doubly tough.

Hopefully, Bynum drives Kobe out of town. Like it or not, Kobe is still their closer. No way they can beat teams like OKC or Chicago without Kobe.

I've been telling my Lakers fan brother that the Lakers seem to play better without Kobe...For a few years now. With that said, they haven't beaten the Thunders, the Rockets, & the Grizzlies of the world yet. They haven't beaten too many top teams all season. In fact, they have a losing record with top teams. When Kobe comes back, he'll slowly eat away the confidence of all the guys that have stepped up since he's be "hurt".

Kobe: where your ego is so big, so literally think you can get away with thinking you're a superhero on hardwood. lol

Repped High Quality Post

Indeed, Bynum is playing better, All Star ya' know......

Bottom line is this, in the last 4-5 games you have had people like, MWP,SB,MB & RS step up BIG TIME. In my opinion too BIG TIME, these players had a few games where they went off. Right now the beat writers attribute this to them "stepping up" in the absence of Kobe. I dont see it that way, I see these players having "one offs" in what has been pretty mediocre seasons for them.

If in fact, they are able to sustain these type of performances with Kobe back in then fine. Simple fact is that I refuse to believe those Pikers with do anything close. RS is not that good of a long ball shooter period. Just remember, even a blind/dumb squirrel can find a nut once in his life.

Bottom line is it doesnt really matter. What matters is WE continue to play the tye of ball that has gotten us here and nothing else.

PS-Those back to back plays by MB in OT yesterday were calls missed by the officials. First he stepped out of bounds on the rebound put back and second he touched that 3 ball by Gasoft. Missed calls period. They are extremely lucky to have come away with that win period!

Even with Kobe, they still haven't beaten those teams.

It kinda depends. Usually when a team comes together after a star is injured and they play really well, it helps in the LONG run. But short run, it usually becomes a disruption when the star comes back. That happened after Hakeem was injured with the Rockets years ago. The Rockets came together and played some really great basketball without their star center. He came back and they weren't the same. They would eventually start playing good basketball again, but not enough to be a playoff contender until years later. We saw it with the Knicks and Lin-sanity. They were playing great, Carmelo comes back and they weren't quite the same.

The way Kobe shoots, I can't imagine the Lakers will come out of the gate playing great team basketball....unless they play every game the way they played against us last time. LOL

Not directly related to the Clippers, but the Clips are in a race for the division title against the Lakers and could possibility play them in the playoffs.

Kobe holds the team back on offense cause of the amount of shots he takes. If he becomes a team player than yeah they'll be good, but Kobe will never do that.

"If Kobe plays within the system..."

He never plays within the system. He has an individual agenda, especially now that he's getting old and on the decline, he's going for his individual accolades. Kobe is a great individual player but no team mentality. Not too worried about when he comes back. I'm more worried about the Lakers when he's not on the team.

We said that last year when the fakers were challenging for the best record in the west. Then they got swept by the mavs. don't worry, bynum will get hurt or do something stupid in the playoffs.

excellent post. "those missed calls" are bs reffing bias. like i have always said, if the clips got that type of reffing, we would be the number #1 seed in the western conference. seriously. bynum has been balling, but come on, motherF***** travels when he uses his post moves, spends 5-6 seconds in the paint on both offense and defense. methhead grabs and shoves the opposing player. oh and it was barnes who touched the ball when gasoft shot that fluke 3. its also important to point out that they usually have a double digit advantage in ft attempts in every game they play. it has gotten ridiculous in the last 5 game kobrick has been out. its hard to beat the flake show when its always 8 on 5 in their favor. smh

DeAndre Jordan is better than Dwight Howard right now, so is every other healthy Center in the NBA.

Exactly. Teams will soon figure out how to deal with the Lakers without having to fear the great closer.
