I like the fact that in both conferencea, the lower-seeded team has won three straight after losing the first two.

And both teams also won game 5 on the road, okc vs boston who would of thought it. I still think there is a possibility both the spurs and heat can come back, all the pressure is on the home team to close it out and avoid a game 7.

I doubt it. Unless Green gets out of his slump, the series is over. The Thunder are doing to Parker what the Spurs did to CP3.

You made no points. Why don't you go to your about thread about timeouts and realize your intuition is totally off . Just because you think you have it figured out, doesn't mean that you do. You've already proved that.

I think that a huge problem for us was that the Spurs killed us with kindness. There was too much respect given to the Spurs. What helped up beat Memphis was the fact that there was genuine dislike between the two teams, and we fed off of it. There was none of that in the series with the Spurs. I remember when Blake got his in the mouth by Duncan and Duncan immediately grabbed him, made sure he was ok, then patted the the back of his head.

San Antonio was smart on being kind to us. OKC is showing some dislike, i.e. Harden bumping into Jackson during an inbound; and they are living off of that. We should of found a reason to hate these guys, even if we made that reason up.

Well its simple, The Spurs suck and are who I have been saying they are for years. Everyone always ridicules me for saying the Spurs suck and not falling the yearly cliches....but The Thunder are proving what you can do to The Spurs if you have a good team. The Thunder have Westbrook, Durant (best player in the NBA that just doesnt rely on dunking and layups, he can actually shoot), Ibaka for D, Perkins size (even though at times he is as horrible as DJ) and Harden who can control a whole game coming off the bench. Our two best players were banged up...what was supposed to be our third guy in Caron had a broken hand...I mean....yeah I can go on and on...

Simply put, have you seen our roster? haha

Simple, they patiently acquired great players through the draft. Not once were they enticed to give away the rights to any of these draft pics to another team in order for them to also take on the contract of a under-performing veteran. Secondly, after they had the core of young players that could potentially work together for over a decade they added Kendrick Perkins, and Derek Fisher...all while only giving away Green and Kristic..two small role players.

Third they hired a great general manager and coach.

It surprises me that people continue to doubt the Thunder and act as if the moves they did were luck. The Thunder are a brilliant example of what we should have been doing. Props to the Thunder and their front office, at least some organizations have an idea of how to build competently.

Uh I think it's quite simple why we got swept! 1)The leader of our squad (Chauncey who was a former finals MVP was out) 2) Our PG who was/is the best PG in the game, averaged about 10 points 4 assist and 5 turnovers per game. Primarily because he was hurt. Blake played great in game 3, but again he was hurt. Butler had a broken hand, and we had just come off a 7 game series. We played more games in round 1 then we had practices all season. I hope that can give you some clarity

Exactly. And Durant, Westbrook and the Thunder are completely healthy.

The other issue is, while I agree the Thunder are playing great D against the Spurs, it seems obvious to me they aren't the same Spurs that faced us. They had to crash eventually. They had to miss open 3's eventually. Tim Duncan had to slow down eventually. I mean, Duncan's missing free throws, layups and mid range jumpers he made automatically against us. Seems to me Parker was making every shot against us. Did you see the WIDE OPEN 3 he missed the other night?

Yeah, the injuries to us and the fact the Spurs have finally come down to earth are the reasons why they are down against OKC and we were swept. I'm still impressed we kept competitive against those Spurs considering.

In all honesty I feel if we were 3rd seed and lakers were 4th, they would have met in WCF, lakers matchup better against spurs, and clippers match up better against OKC

Maybe you wouldn't get ridiculed if you picked a different adjective, like, say overrated. Teams that sweep their way into the conference finals don't suck. The Spurs don't suck. Teams like the Bobcats suck.

And if the Spurs suck, what does that mean for us? That we worse than suck?

You may be right that Spurs aren't as good as most people think, but saying that they "suck" just undermines your credibility.

Some can either confirm this, or debunk this:

Teams that sweep their first two series, hardly ever go on to the finals.

I heard this several times already. Maybe the Spurs are part of this stat/statement?

The reason why I think the Thunder are running the table is because they're using Safo a lot more than they were in the first 2 games. Their bigs are sealing of Parker pretty decently from penetrating, and they are doing a good job...great job, on the PnR defense. Sadly, both our bigs are horrible at it.

I don't know if that statement is entirely true but it has happened recently both the cavs in 09 swept the first two rounds and the magic swept in 2010 and both teams lost to the celtics in the conference finals

It's TEAM defense. Only a select few players on the entire Clipper roster are good team defenders. That was a huge killer. Plus, DJ doesn't have a great sense for timing like Serge Ibaka does, so nobody's scared to get into the Clipper paint. OKC has decent......not great on-ball defenders, but they're keeping Parker and Ginobili's opportunities in the paint down because of solid rotations, transition D, and screen roll D. Once Coach Brooks made his adjustments..........clowns like Bonner stopped getting shooting practice from behind the arc out on the elbow. Suddenly, the Spurs have become dependent on things that weren't a part of their success throughout the season. Manu and Parker are good, yes........but SA won't win if those guys have to keep going 1 on 3 late in the shot clock, period. Match-ups and adjustments.........thanks Vinny!!

The Lakers in 1989 swept all the way in to the NBA finals. Then they got swept right back out by Detroit - but that was mainly because their starting backcourt, which included one of the best players of all time, got hurt. (I'm actually ok with the Lakers pre-Kobe).

We played that series hurt and I don't think our team is fully realized yet... Offensively, we don't have a 4 or 5 who is a threat to shoot the ball, which makes it much easier for defenses to sag into the middle and protect against Paul's penetration. Our other perimeter shooters are adequate, not great; Foye, Bulter, Young... That's not exactly a lot of firepower from the perimeter to open things up for Blake.

The team has improved a great deal, but we aren't a championship contender yet. We need better shooters around Paul and we need much, much better interior defense...

Griffin's offensive post game is improving. It's not pretty, but he's good enough so that most teams need to double team him, which means he's effective. DJ is a lost pup, however.

On this I agree with you Sam. That is why I think if we coould add Al Jeff and Odom (and those who hate odom cause he played with the Lakers please stop) Last year for him was whatever. Remember in 2010 he was 6th man of the year. He can handle, pass, rebound, and shoot. He's also known as a very good teamate. Just not for the Mavs. If we got these two along with a wing defender and a defensive asst coach I believe we are at least in the WCF next year. How could anyone dispute that?
