But this free agency thing is scaring me. I mean what are they going to do. They may lose Brand to Miami if Shaun Marion opts out. So his decison will ultimitely be between Miami and the Clippers. But I'm sure he'll choose us, because he feels for the fans in LA. As for Corey, any thing could go. This thread is for the free agents...
Here they are from the Clippers:
1)Aaron Williams--I'm not sure what he'll do. I'm not sure if he's the most important priority.
2)Quinton Ross-- Q is a good priority for them because of his defense. HE's great and deserves at least 4 mil;maybe mid level exception.
3)Josh Powell
4)Richie Frahm
etc.
5)Elton Brand
6) Corey Maggette
The last two are the only ones I really care about. What do you think is going to happen? Is it feasible to get a powerful free agent while keeping Corey and Elton. And if you think this year is bad, just wait til the end of next year! |

| Like I said on another thread, keep Brand and see if we can coax Maggette to stay. We still have Cassell's salary to spend along with letting go of Dickau, Knight, and maybe get rid of Thomas. I say keep Ross & Mobley as vets off the bench and anyone else should be expendable. Cleaning house and adding legitimate depth is in order. |

| That's true I haven't thought of that. We will have a little bit of wiggle room about Cassell. They won't get rid of THomas I dont think. Dickau needs to go for sure. |

| As I've always said, Williams is a disaster. I love Q but his offense has been zero. Are we keeping Smush as a back up PG? Thomas should go. Cat's a keeper. With some work over the summer like FT's Powell will be OK. He's hungry. Who is going to be our SF back up if Corey leaves? If we loose Corey and EB, (50-50) we'll have only 2 starters CK and Al and considering that now we have no starter guards. and minimal bench we got problems. |

LOL, speaking of Smush.............he only played 10 minutes and was 0-4..................I think Dumbleavy is already convinced about what he brings and DOESN'T bring to the court.
I think the Donald will be try and sign Corey, but for the amount that HE wants to pay him. If Corey wants more, Sterling will be willing to let him part and will not think twice in knowing that he has a Maggette like player in Al Thorton.
I just hope the CLIPPERS focus on getting rid of Dickau, signing Brand, and signing a noteworthy, legitimate Shooting Guard, if we can't lock up Michael Beasley or OJ Mayo. |

Thomas and Knight are still under contract (Knight for 1 more year, Thomas for 2). So they'd have to find a trade partner to accept them. Not real likely. So we better plan on them being on the roster next year.
Dickau and Williams will be of the books and won't be asked to return (certainly for Williams some they never play him anyways).
I'm not holding my breath for Beasley. Right now LAC is in the #6 slot, and not likely to move any farther towards #1. They're closer to the #7 and #8 teams in the standings. Unless they get a lucky lottery ball it's no better than #6. Everyone knows about Beasley, Rose and Bayless, so they're not likely to slip to #6. Godron or Mayo MIGHT be available. |

If I'm not mistaken, Brevin was only guaranteed the first year and Thomas is
is signed to the full contract. I would figure a way to trade Thomas. |

1)I think you're right- Aaron and the Clippers will part ways
2)I hope we can sign Q for less than that- maybe $2 mil/yr?
4)Corey will no doubt opt out. If the Clippers get LUCKY and draft Beasley, then I think he's a goner. Otherwise it all depends on if both sides can come to an agreeable #. As for EB he probably won't opt out, and if he does I'm pretty sure he'll re-sign with the Clippers- unless something drastic happens and both sides decide to go in a different direction. |

I would lean towards trading him too if there are takers- I doubt it though. He can still contribute nicely if we have everyone back and healthy. |

Yeah you're right ether- it's a looong shot to get Beasley. Gordon and Mayo would be GREAT consolation prizes. I think that Hasheem Thabeet should also be seriously considered as well. Imagine that guy backing up Kaman- the Clippers wouldn't lose a beat defensively inside when Kaman goes out. I would be pretty happy if we could draft any one of those 3 guys. |

| i'M LOOking forward to OJ Mayo. I think he's a decent fit for the Clips and would be the best decision to make. |

I'm pretty certain Brevin is a full 2 year deal. There are some web-sites out there that can verify. Anyway, it's only $2 mil.
I agree with you on Thomas. But he'll be seen as a bad contract by most other teams ... $6 mil in salary for the next 2 years. So LAC would have to take a less than optimal deal (give up more for less) to be able to include him. Other teams won't see him as an "asset" in any trade. |

| I wouldn't mind losing Maggette is Thornton took his place, though it was nice having Thornton come off the bench for him or place side by side. Having two players able to drive on anyone on the court was always nice. So who would play backup for Thornton if Maggette goes? |

I wouldn't mind that trade either but I'm not sure Washington would go for it because he have Jamison and Caron Butler already. Though Jamison is going to be a free agent- hmmm- wonder if he's on the Clipper radar also |
