Well, I think its been 3 games in a row or at least two in a row that Dunleavy starts both Maggette and Thornton. From what I have seen, I like it a lot! We have always needed that extra slasher on the team. Thornton is that slasher we have been seeking. Both of them shoot a decent 3-point shot at high 30% and mid thirty's which works with brand and kaman. If Livingston comes back shooting 35% plus three point percentage we have a playoff bound team if we don't have any injuries. Let me know what you guys think because I am pretty excited. Everyone is talking about trades signings and what not, I believe there is no one available that can help us more than where we are right now(Wade or Lebron aren't coming to LAC any time soon). What I do like with the k2,EB,M,Thr,Lv line up is SCORING, REBOUNDING, SIZE.

They're doing good together, and they're looking for each other more though they can each do better at that. I mean I can even imagine both of them flexible enough to play some shooting guard too since they're so athletic. Imagine the potential lineup of Brand, Kaman, Thornton, Maggette, and Livingston- like you said that'd be something to behold defensively (esp. interior D), and rebounding.

I'd love that starting lineup. They are very good together and I like having 2 players who can drive and get fouled. Along with Brand and Kaman in the post and having a point guard who can dish it out well and we are set to go.

It's a good duo, but without a legit outside game, we arent gonna win enough games to make the playoffs. Next year that is. If keeping Maggette costs us getting a PG/SG in the off-season, it isnt worth it.

i agree... we need to get a combo gaurd that is a threat from the outside... here are some free agents (restricted and unrestricted)... j r smith? navarro? Salim Stoudamire? Eddie House? Daniel Gibson? Juan Dixon? Monta Ellis? Kareem Rush? Carlos Arroyo? Louis Williams? Beno Udrih? Jose Calderon? Roger Mason?.... all but smith, williams, and rush can run the point... but still would be nice.... hey hook me up with rep points.... i don't wanna be a d-league pick up... hahaha com'on

Guys, what have I been saying? I said that line up would be great if Maggette decides to stay. I said keep Thornton at SF and Maggette at SG. We could then go after Udrich or Navarro by using Cassell's salary (if possible salaries match - if less, we save for other needs)and use our draft pick to get a big. Or if Maggette wants to leave, sign and trade for Kirk hindrich and get an SG or a big in the draft. I see good things coming next season. The possibilities are endless.

You know... a lineup of CK, EB, Thornton, Corey and the point (Rose, please Rose!) to be named later sounds pretty good, but let's consider what we need to win. Better yet, consider the teams that have won recently. SAS - three stars (one usually off the bench) and some excellent role players, who played their roles to near perfection. The Heat - two stars (one of them transcendent) and good role players; and Detroit - a starting five of of stars, but one that featured an acknowledged defensive stopper. Prince guards the high scoring two or three on the other team, and usually locks him up. And the whole team is devoted to the defensive end of things generally. There's a reason that people talk about "getting key stops" and the "slowdown game" in the playoffs. Defense wins. Of those three our potential lineup next season sounds most like Detroit's, right? All of our guys will be able to score, just as theirs do. So then the question becomes defensive. As in, we'll be able to score, but will we be able to stop anybody? The answer is... maybe. Acutally the front line of CK, EB and Al will be one of the shot blockingest in the league, but that's not all there is to effective defense. So with that lineup, I guess that would be the question, how good would the "D" be?

I was watching Dallas a few days ago and the announcer mentioned that they had 3 all stars. If you look at most elite team they have 2-3 (4 if you're Detroit) We need another allstar to compete in the west. Ideal would be Ellis and Kurt. Ellis probably won't leave but we have to be ready to spend the bankroll.I know this is a dream If SL comes back healthy we have fort knox to spend. TI hope better than Kurt. There's no shooter there but with Knight Parker and Dicau (keep him) we have a bit more $. WHERE"S PIKE?

Basically we need an effective scorer from the 1 or 2. Brevin Knight can run the point if we can draft a PG to replace him in a year. We just need someone to distribute the ball and shoot occasionally IF we can get a SG who can score effectively. Mobley shoots streaky and is getting older, and Q-Ross hasnt developed much of an offensive game at all, so we got nobody shooting from the outside. Knight isnt a shooter and Dickau is streaky as well and doesnt have all the tools to play 30+ minutes. Smush Parker - well we dont even need to go there. Maggette is NOT a SG. He turns the ball over WAY too much as is. He isnt gonna be able to guard guys like Raja Bell and Manu Ginobili. I'm not hating on Corey, but when he leaves and we move forward, we arent gonna miss his turnovers and average defense. We need to replace Corey's points with someone who actually can play SG. Who can defend against guards and can shoot from the outside and occasionally drive to the hoop or run a fast break. Monta Ellis is that guy if we can get him.
No guards who can score outside = Limited winning. Unless your inside game is leaps and bounds above everyone else and there's no stopping it, then those are the facts. Exit Maggette, Enter Monta Ellis (or whomever else).
That's just what I think. |
