Wow pile on more fu**ing bad news.

Blazers' president Larry Miller says GM search is over. Three finalists have been chosen and decision coming "soon."

Three finalists for Blazers GM are Jeff Bower, David Morway and the third is believed to be Neil Olshey.

This tells me the "talks" were far more serious than people knew. Olshey will take job if offered I'm sure.

Just Donald determining his market value so he doesn't have to pay a penny more. My guess is that Donald will match Portland's offer (if one is forthcoming) and count on the fact that Olshey wants to be here more than there.

Hire Vinny fire Oshley just what we were all hoping the ultra intelligent Clippers organization would do.

I would hire the guy that suggested Deron Williams to play alongside CP3 to replace Olshey.

Ease it up, 2 names are confirmed and the last name is "believed" to be Olshey. Even if true, the Blazers still have pick him over the other two guys. I'm sure the Blazers will take the aminu acquisition into consideration. lol

Jeff Bower was not very good at choosing talent ask cp3, it will probably come down to morway or olshey

Considering the success of Olshey in his Clippers tenure I'm going to consider him the favorite.

BTW Joe the Blazers owner confirmed Olshey when he said "it's the only 3 guys we interviewed" which Olshey was one of those guys.

I'm guessing that Olshey gets the job. From listening to him talk it sounds like the guy could sell ice to an Eskimo. He may want to be in LA, but a multiple year contract offer from a first class franchise may be to hard to turn down.

Pardon me, but are you Blazers ownership? We're just worried and there absolutely IS a chance he'll be gone.

Seriously,,believed means squat. I sort of am in the camp that thinks DTS is waiting to see how much a GM goes for (or maybe Chauncy is to be our new GM !). Or maybe CP3 becomes the first ever player/GM.

IMO Neil is gone. Why would he stay. They rehired the coach he wanted fired. What a sad day it has become. We are not just losing our best GM ever. We just rehired the most ignorant coach ever. Thank DTS. You must enjoy failures you cheap ass.

This can't be happening. You know there's a bad news coming when you could actually feel it. This is why Clippers success never last more than 2 seasons. Sad.

I know, other sources have already confirmed this but I'm just making the point that the other 2 are being pushed out there harder. It's not a done deal, and we don't know who the Blazers are coveting most.

Plus, the VDN decision today was between DTS, Roeser, and Olshey. Who knows, I just don't want to react to this right now.

I just don't see this happening.

It was reported this year that Olshey & Roeser were ready to fire VDN, but Sterling let VDN have one more chance to coach the Memphis game.

Also, wasn't it Olshey who wanted Casey instead of VDN in the first place?

I'm not really going to overreact like others here, but I'm just saying..

There was talk that Neil wanted Dwayne Casey as coach, but Sterling wanted VDN. Olshey also wanted to fire VDN, but Sterling wanted to give him one more game to make a decision.

If you guys think about it, Neil Olshey was interviewed last year and he's getting interview this year as well. Doesn't its seems that he actually might want that job the whole time. Especially, this time he have lot more freedom to maneuver his moves without being overriden every single time. Its seems he might actually want that job.

Depending on the circumstances I think it takes a hell of a lot more courage and guts to walk away from something you love so much than it does to stick around and just accept the way things are. If you're talking about bandwagon fans fine.... but I'm going on my 15th season as a fan. I can handle the highs and low. The nonstop teases. What I can't handle is when for the first time ever.... I can literally SEE championships when I close my eyes.... to know that a couple cheap or poor decisions for Donald compromises that.

I know for me personally I live and breath the Clippers to the point of an unhealthy obsession to where I'd never be able to be a fan of another team. I'd just stop watching the NBA period because watching any of it would make me depressed. I've poured so much heart, tears and energy into the Clippers that after being slapped in the face so many times by Sterling... I gotta know when it's time to walk away.

Not saying that time is now..... but I will say The Vinny/Olshey situation right now is getting the ball rolling in a bad direction for me. Now all we need is for Olshey to get hired in Portland, CP3 to leave and Griffin to decline the extension (first player ever to do so) because he's that desperate to leave. This would be a death blow for 50+ percent of Clippers fans and it has nothing to do with loyalty or bandwagon. It has to do with standing up for yourself and knowing when enough is enough.

OK, point taken on the Olshey situation. I don't remember Olshey wanting Casey but I'll take both your words.

For what it's worth, I guess DTS made the right move by keeping Vinny. Making a change that late into the season could have changed our fate.

Neil looks uncomfortable and seems different in this interview. Man... Sterling ffs do something right for once. Offer this guy a 3-5 year deal TODAY. NOT TOMORROW. TODAY!

Correct!

Olshey was the one who solicited his services last season according to the article.

Quote:
According to CBS Sports' Ken Berger, Neil Olshey, the Clippers VP of Basketball Operations and GM, spoke with Portland owner Paul Allen about the Blazers' GM opening.

Olshey reportedly spoke to Portland about the same position last year.

Olshey worked this past season without a contract, orchestrating the Clippers' blockbuster acquisition of Chris Paul. Olshey also drafted Blake Griffin and Eric Bledsoe.

If Olshey were to bolt to the Pacific Northwest, the Clippers hypothetically could need to find a new GM, head coach and six new players on the roster this offseason.

Yea, if anything I thought, Olshey is probably the reason we picked up the option. Either way, I'm not too happy with the resigning but if our players are really behind him then I am too. He has a full off season with these guys now, lets see what he can do.

Was not addressing my comment toward you,,just the new guys that joined this season,,and they know who they are.

I am still convinced that there is no such a thing as loyalty in sports (as in the old times),,money talks and BS walks. If BG gets offered the max extension and refuses it,,then I know the franchise is in more trouble then we can comprehend. Seems to me he will take the money and put up with the owner for as long as he has to.

Donald,

You love hookers and you love good looking hooker.

You see Neil Olshey right there, he's a best looking GM in the league. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are good looking players. You know what that mean, a lot of good looking ladies want to watch our games. That also mean lot of good basketball players want to play with us because many good looking girls would be watching them. And that mean more options for you to pick those girls Donald Sterling.

The morale of the story: don't f--- this up.

I am not seeing an uncomfortable Olshey what so over the same confident self. I am not in favor of extending VDN for next year but do not have a huge problem with it. I think he can improve a lot as a coach and hopefully he will. At times he seems to make the right substitutions he has potential. VDN needs to figure out offensive schemes becuase for the most part we do not have anything but a high pick and roll. He was in the spurs family we should just copy POPS playbook.

The Brand loss hurt me badly... but this feels worse only because it feels accumulative. Vinny getting signed annoys me a bit... but the thought of Neil leaving... or CP3 walking KILLS me.

Ghost as I've said before that's what's so damn irritating. At times Vinny looks downright brilliant ... but that's about 10 percent of the time.

I can feel you there. I've been a fan since '87. My only hope is that 'fate' finds some means of relinquishing the ownership from DTS (which I originally mis-typed STD, lol). Most of the teams problems and issues relate directly back to the owner. And while he has finally started to actually spend money, it does make me wonder if that's a genuine interest or something else entirely....

He's spending money because he learned that selling out games/merchandise and having superstar players happy= more profit for him. It's all money for DTS aka STD.
