Marques Johnson on Fox Sports said something interesting. I didn't post the link because one paragraph is of interest.

Discussion about Ray Allen as a FA. Although Doc Rivers wants KG and Ray, Johnson felt $$$ both wanted would not permit so Ray would go.

"Miami, THE CLIPPERS and possibly Chicago" By his inflection it seemed we were more likely. He said it like I wrote it THE CLIPPERS It was his feeling that Ray wants a three year deal and we could give it?????????. More security. Where would he fit in Miami? Second fiddle to DWade on a team that has all the strength of a piece of steel (wool)?

What would we do with Chauncey?

I KNOW

Paul PG

Billiups SG

Allen SF

Bledsoe PF

BG center

I would of said yes 2 years ago but not now. The freaking guy is 37. Sure he's an upgrade to Foye... but until he's 40?

I am kind of thinking this would not work,,he and Chauncy together would give us one year, taking turns being out.

THANK YOU! People keep saying how they are ready for Chauncey to come back. He is on the tail end on 30 and has a torn Achilles. What could he possibly bring? experience? Don't make me laugh, the game of basketball is no different in the playoffs than it is in the regular season, other than the fact people try hard.

We can get "experience" elsewhere, but Ray Allen still isn't where I would be looking

I hope the clippers get ray allen instead of billups, you can't sign both. Ray Allen gives cp3 a consistent 3pt threat, but if Boston eliminates miami and wins the nba title I'm sure they would extend allen.

I'd keep Chauncy just for his leadership alone. Plus, he should be cheaper based on risk. Allen has also fallen to injury and only reason why Allen is starting is because Avery Bradley is hurt. Allen isn't going back to the Celtics regardless if they win a title or not. Bradley has replaced him.

I like Ray, but he's looked kinda bad this season, especially in the playoffs.

I mean, maybe. I would have to really think about it.

Courtney Lee is the dream acquisition for us. Literally the perfect SG and 3rd option for us. Doesn't need a lot of shots... plays shutdown D and bangs down open 3's reliably.

Sucks so much that he's restricted

He's perfect like Sefolosha

Yea.. except he's a significantly better version of Sefalosha. He averaged like 17 ppg last year from time he was made starter till end of season. Guy can score like Sefalosha can't. He's restricted but who knows, maybe Houston will let him go. Then again I hear they like him more than Kevin Martin.

he was never at 17ppg, his career high was 12.5, and he was playing hella minutes. But he would still be a good option for the team nonetheless

I'd do anything to get Courtney Lee on this team man...

But seriously, outside of Paul/Jordan/Butler/Griffin (Id like to keep this core together and see what they can do) everybody is expendable. Lee IMO would take this team to another level. I mean I dont want to exaggerate but the guy can defend and hit 3's.....what else do we need from that position?

Clippersfan86

My bad. It was actually 14 ppg as starter, not 17. Regardless he scores much better than Sefalosha and 14 ppg is still a great 3rd option as long as he can be consistent. I expect Butler to have a better year too.

Griffin will put up 23-25 ppg IMO. CP3 18-19. Butler 13-15 ppg. We just need another guy who consistently gives 10+ and plays D on the wing.

I'd honestly say yes to Bledsoe for an extended Lee if it came after a CP3 extension.

This is how the Clippers should look next year if they want to move forward in contention and finally get over or slump of being the worst franchise in sports history.... So further a do here is the Championship Contending Clippers Roster for 2012-13...

PG: Chris Paul(of course)

Eric Bledsoe(we need him trust me he's an X factor every game if he can grow and become a better player)

SG: Ray Allen(realistic possibility)

Nick Young(Could learn from Ray and be our 6Man)

SF: Caron Butler(dude played with a sprained wrist show some love)

Shawn Marion(great defender, well needed of you want to win championships)

PF: Blake Griffin(the franchise)

Keyon Martin(another good defender)

C: Deandre Jordan(I hope he can get better) lol

Reggie Evans (the guy balled ppl)

^^ No way we can obtain all those players. Marion, Allen, Young, and Martin will not fill the void of Mo and Foye. No chance of that happening. Plus you have to sign BG and CP3.

By the way, welcome!

Thx....! Evans KMart & Young should take pay cuts..

We're trying to wins championship and if there are too then the smart thing for them is to take a pay cut.. Besides Young KMart & Evans arent getting any younger..

Plus we have the Cash to sign Ray & Marion trade for Mo & Trey(Money similar)

Will he be able to play well coming off ankle surgery? At his age, how many miles do his legs have left? At what price is that risk worth? To many questions if you ask me if he wants a huge deal.

i like ray, but if he wants anything above 8 million at his age and his ankle surgery not worth it. and bledsoe for courtney lee? so we fill one hole and uncover another? bledsoe,cp3,Bg are untradeable imo. everyone else is expendable. i like courtney lee, but hes staying in houston. how about this trade scenario: dalembert+kevin martin+ 1st rd pick for mo and DJ. idk if that would happen, but idk what you guys think. before anyone overreacts, its just a scenario, considering martin is probably going to be on the trade block.

If everybody on our wishlist doesnt happen. if ray allen still available then maybe. Only as a last option.

Definitely would sign Ray Allen if he were willing to come here. People are speaking of Ray's age as if he isn't 37 and still running around the court as if he is 25. Ray conditions a lot and it is evident. Give him a 3 year deal and let him retire.

My problem with Ray Allen, besides the age, is that he offers very little besides shooting. And if his shooting sucks, he's rather useless. Maybe it's because of the way he looks this post season due to injury. But I don't see he offers enough at this stage of his career.

I like Allen; he was the best pure shooter in the game but Clipper fans and management need to realize that's the past. You can not allocate today's dollars for past success, especially success had on other teams. The Clippers have limited money to spend, they overplayed on a couple of their existing contracts so I think they should use the money on younger assets. Cost control, always buy low.

I would look for two or three 2 mil contract on younger players so if they pan out they give you great value and if they don't they are much easier to move. If Allen has health issues next year at the MLE $'s it kills your season just as it would have with Billup's last year had they not got him on the cheap. Bottom line, remove the emotion folks.

If Billups can legitimately come back from injury would much rather have him and Bledsoe play the 1-2 spot in a rotation with CP3.

We're also a team that had undersized guards coming out of our ears...Thanks Olshey.

The new GM has to fix that problem and use some money to get us a real Big, and good wing, and then a shooting guard.

Why does everyone say we need to go out in free agency and sign a big who can stretch the floor..? Shouldn't we spend our money retaining most of the players we had last season?! We had the greatest winning percentage in franchise history and didn't have a legit SG. Let's spend the cash on a SG that could possibly be our 3 best player. Blake Griffin needs to improve this offseason on his FT shooting and needs go learn how to make a jumper. He wants a contract extension then improve on your mechanics BG. Same goes for DJ he has to get better at the FT line of course I don't expect him to become a consistent jump shooter but he'd got to develop a post move or something other then dunking the ball.

^ cuz we need a big who can stretch the floor, coming off the bench. i think we already have him in trey thompkins however that still remains to be seen. plus the fact that we have too many guards is a big reason why mo(aside from the fact that he will make 9 million next year) might be traded for a stretch 4. we still need a backup center.

We need a stretch four for simple basketball reasons. When you have a player that attacks inside, like Griffin does, a stretch 4 makes things easier for him, attracting defenders from the weak side out of the paint.

like DJ alot more than Dalembert, and don't like Kevin Martin's defense or lack thereof.... am willing to trade E Bled for the sixth pick if Olshey offers it up, and for my money it would be Terrence Ross, who I think is gonna be money, and at both ends of the court....

and agree with the one poster, that my love for Ray is due just as much to sentiment as it is based on his talent....

as far as a wing player/sf, am intrigued by Hollis Thompson in the draft, and for biggs am all about Yancy Gates in the draft as well, and.... for retaining both Evans and KMart if they take what we can afford to pay them/market value....

at pg, especially if we trade the one or both of Bledsoe and/or Mo, like Delonte West as a FA, and Tyshaun Taylor in the draft....

Well BG could b the stretch the floor guy and create better opportunities for DJ who can't and will never become an outside the paint shooter..

^ Making Blake an outside shooter and not using his strength and athleticism in the paint is like asking Bledsoe to slow the pace... a bad utilization of resources.

agreed cleepers. clippersftw, it would take too much to obtain. the rockets like the kid a lot. they would want bledsoe, since lowry or dragic might leave. if we trade bledsoe we are f****d at backup pg. i read some people on here want us to go after delonte west if we make that trade, but that would be a definite downgrade at backup pg. if courtney lee is indeed a rfa we should try to offer him something that rockets wont want to match. but that would take getting rid of mo first in order to clear up some cap space.

if we can turn Mo, Gomes and Bledsoe into Terrence Ross, Meyers Leonard and Emeka Okafor, think it's a small price to pay to have Delonte West as my backup pg, and perhaps third string at that behind Paul and Foye.... dunno ??

Making Blake an outside shooter would do wonders for DJ

and would b to his advantage because teams wouldn't be

able to allow Blake to have space which could possibly help out

his inside game as well... Itll only make Blake Griffin a better

Basketball player. Plus it could help DJ become a better player

because blakes a good passer and becoming an outside shooter

would clear space out for DJ who will never ever ever ever ever

become anything other then a dunker..

We need to invest our $$$ on a SG for the future maybe Allen might not

be the guy but I'm sure there are a few SG's out there we could

make into out 3rd best player.
