So one of the users on this forum brought up SUCH a interesting point.
With the season ending very soon, certain situation are brought up...
IF..
-Clippers play hard fought basketball until the end of the season and try to win as many games as possible in order to find a groove going into NEXT season..
THEN..
..they will improve their record and will fall further away from winning the nba draft lottery and lessen the chance of picking a top rookie.
IF..
-The Clippers try to gain ground on the nba draft by losing as many games as possible, they higher the chances of winning the lottery and improving their team next season..
THEN..
..the mentality of the Clipper organization will be deterred and will face some criticism, and the clippers will be looked down upon until next season
SO, what do you do NOW.
Purposely losing games does sound appealing because there is no incentive to this season anymore as far as reaching a title is concerned but the idea of purposely losing games is just something that I don't want to be associated with.
This brings up another event in past times when the clippers were in the playoffs. Because Denver was the 3rd ranked team because of the rule of each division receieve the top 3 spots, the clippers were pushing to be in the 6th spot to avoid having to face a much stronger San Antonio? team. Everything played out well that year, but this year is a little different.
so, clippernation, what is the right course of action to take??

| Scenario 1. You go out there and you win as many as you can. The Clippers, unless they lose nearly all of the remaining spots have pretty much locked up their current status (6th i think...). The winning needs to happen for the fans, the free agents, the Clippers who are becoming free agents, and just the complete attitude and future outlook analysts, and the rest of the NBA will have upon us. If we keep losing with Elton Brand, there's just no more of an excuse (besides kaman/thomas) |

My head says lose the rest of the games except the Lakers game but my heart wants us to set the tone for next year. If it is mathematically impossible to move up then keep winning. |

Ok, Here's the scenario:
It isn't mathematically impossible.
We;re only 3 games behind the Knicks and the Grizzlies. And if we fall behind, we could get the 4th most balls. But a 3 game switch is just not likely. Both teams will likely keep losin. In the other direction, no team is too close to us..so just keep on winning. |

| The reality is that most of the bottom feeders are not going out of their way to win games. But we are 3 games behind catching NY and losing our 6 position, so we can compete hard win some games without being in danger of dropping to 7. So, we might as well go for it. Unfortunately, with Kaman gone and other nagging injuries we can win some and lose some and we will probably stay in the same spot. Our best chance of moving up....or down.... is how the ping pong balls drop. |

I say play hard as possible. I love Dunleavy's lineup now. He USES everyone. and its helping Thornton, Powell and Fazekas get better used to the game. ABOUT TIME!
I just dont see NY winning 3 more games this year. I see Memphis maybe doing that, depending on their schedule. But yeah, we arent gonna catch the Bucks in positive standings, so we're gonna at least have the 6th best chance of getting the balls to bounce our way. |

| Yeah like JLemm said- let's just play hard, play the right way. Without Kaman/Mobley/Thomas, the schedule is tough enough for the win/losses to take care of themselves. I seriously doubt that Milwaukee will be able to catch us for 6th, and I don't think we'll be able to catch the Knicks/Memphis. So right now it sure looks like we'll be 6th in the draft. |

| I agree. Playing hard is the way to go. Let's win as many as we can and take our chances in the lottery. Besides, there's no guarantee of anything once the ping pong balls start dropping (ask Boston for instance) so we're a lot better off psychologically just going for it. Seeing EB play has been really good for the fans, and you've got to think it's been great for the guys, especially Al and the other rookies too. Not to mention how it's made EB himself feel. These are all professionals, who have been competitive since they were kids, losing is NOT something that is normally in their mind set. Let's hope they keep their expectations as high as possible, for the rest of this season, and going into next. Ok. That being said I of course wouldn't shed any tears if we win out, (yeah, yeah... I know, slim and none) and then get REALLY lucky in the draft and pull DRose! That would strike a kind of karmic balance for our injury plagued season, right? I would settle for Westbrook or Bayless though. |

I also agree for trying to win as many as possible.
Realistically it would be optomistic to say they could win 3 games playing their hardest (given all six are against PO teams and LAC still has major injuries). And a 3-3 record will 99% likely leave them at the #6 slot anyway.
If they "tank" and go 0-6 there is no guarantee they could move up to #5. Knicks or Griz would have to go 3-3 and that's not real likely. So it's not worth tanking given what dwb said.
So go for it! I would especially like to see them beat the Lakers and Nuggets (to be spoilers) and I'm going to the Houston game on Sunday ... so I'd like to see a W there. |

| We need to try and look somewhat attractive for free agents...winning some games now that we have EB back wouldnt hurt... |
