We should totally go for him as long as he is 3-5 million... he was destined to be one of the leagues best sg's until his knees finally gave in and now he seems to be relatively healthy.. we could have him in with eric bledsoe so he doesnt have to run as much.. he tweeted about it and the news is also on most basketball websites

You guys are going to hate me for saying this, but i absolutely hope that he signs with the Lakers. They have the best medical staff, and playing with Kobe would do wonders for his comeback/career.

He's never gonna be ready to play, his knees are permanently messed up. I doubt he'll be able to play more than 20 minutes a game, and even then he won't be even close to the same old Brandon Roy. Roy was my favorite player in the league, but he's done.

Seriously? The Suns have the best medical staff, not the Lakers. Seems both the Lakers' top stars had to go to Germany to seek better methods.

I also disagree that Roy going to the Lakers will do wonders for Roy working along side Kobe. Kobe has never helped any player. He is good at going public about guys he hates on his team...Just ask Bynum, Shaq and numerous other players that have had problems with him. He goes to the Lakers, and I see Roy regretting it before the AS game.

I'd love for him to go to the Lakers. Roy will never be what he once was. You'll have to play him sparingly to preserve him.

People, Roy is not cured of anything. He just has the urge to play again...That's all.

The suns by far have the best medical staff. Nice call Joe. I would take him on a one year deal with not to much money. There are other options out there then roy who has no knees left.

Why do people of this site always want to recruit players with serious knee/health issues.

Please dont you ever learn look at what we went throu with Caron Butler.

And i thought he did a great job and there was some in this forum complainin about him.

Imagine getting Roy hell play one game and rest 10.

Yea, I forgot about the Suns. Their medical staff is amazing, but the Lakers are definitely right up there.

The only reason why I think playing with Kobe would help Brandon Roy, is because, if there's one thing that Kobe has done an AMAZING job of, it's acquiring the necessary skills to compensate for the diminishing of his athleticism. I can't think of a person in history, who's done a better job than Kobe, at adjusting to the changes of their body throughout their career. For me, that's what separates Kobe from any other player ever. Of course he's a selfish douchebag, who seemingly only cares about his own success, but you can't deny that he's done an amazing job of maintaining a high level of play, despite age and injuries.

Just look at Tracy McGrady. He's a year younger than Kobe and had greater size and Athleticism than Kobe (arguably the better talent of the two) but he lacks the skills that Kobe developed over the years through hardwork and dedication, which is why he's a shell of his former self now that he's lost his athleticism. Undoubtedly, Kobe is half the man he used to be in terms of athleticism, but he's far more skilled at this point in his career than he's ever been (though his selfishness overrides everything). If Brandon Roy acquired some of the same skill/savvy as Kobe, and learned how to defend against Kobe, he'd have the best chance at maximizing his production given his physical situation. Of course this is all speculation, but best believe I'm not the only person with this line of thought. I'm sure that he, as well as many others, are thinking the same thing, which is why he's most closely connected with the Lakers above all other teams. That and the fact that Roy was Kobe's favorite player (along with CP3 and Derrick Rose).

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Clipper fan first and foremost, but I'm thinking in the best interest of the player rather than the team, especially given his current condition. Brandon Roy is one of those people you absolutely want to succeed, so I'm hoping for the absolute best with his comeback. Hopefully he'll come back strong like Grant Hill did, but even Better.

Who's knees is Roy gonna be playing with. By that i mean he has no cartilage left. The grinding is going to hinder his play unless he gets a new set of knees.

NO! Roy is done and will never be anything more than a backup at best.

Give him a shot. He might be the answer. As long as the contract is reasonable and low risk.

So everyone that is saying YES to bringing him in here wants Brandon Roy who will probably expect a contract of 1-2 years at 1.6-5 mill a year to be signed in priority over Chauncey, Nick Young, K-Mart, Reggie Evans and a possible free agent like Ilyasova, Weems, AK47, Ray Allen, Courtney Lee and so on and so forth?

The same Brandon Roy whose knees are degenerating and most experts predicted him to maybe have 1-2 more years in the NBA as a solid contributor? This prediction BTW was made about a year ago.

I can't believe you seriously have Weems on the list lol.

Nobody said anything about him being a priority over anybody, just saying he deserves a chance. It's not like he ended his career on a bad note. He went out like a champ in the playoffs last season. Even if he only played every other game or if we had him just for the Playoffs, he'd be a great contributor if he plays anything like how he did in last years playoffs on those same bad knees. If he signs for Vets minimum, then why not grab him? Dude is a great leader and a great competitor.

Roy may be a great leader and competitor to you, but the fact remains... his knees are garbage at best and he'll not give us nor any team what they expect from him. I'll be shocked if he even gets signed to a deal anywhere AND plays more than 35 games next year.

I wouldn't feel right cheering for a guy knowing he is risking his long term health by just playing. If he tries to come back, he may not be able to walk when he gets older.

Weems is on his list because the clippers are one of few teams interested in him

I just wouldn't feel right having him on the roster in general. If he can remain healthy for a couple of years then by all means go after him. We've had horrible luck with injuries in the past. Brand, Odom, Olowokandi, Livingston, Kaman and that's just the tippy top of the iceberg. Must I proceed further? Only guy that's injured all the time I'd risk on a low salary contract is Greg Oden or T-Mac. Can always just waive either.

however i had read somewhere that roy was interested in playing with the flakers. if he would take the minimum u would have to consider signing him. even with his degenerative knee condition he could contribute more than gomes. however, i doubt he would want to sign for the minimum so therefore it makes no sense to sign him.

my first thought was that he should just wait 'til Phil Jackson signs on and then he can play the tall pg for his triangle O, and.... on second thought, yeah and definitely agree, dude should hang 'em up.... he ain't gonna be able to walk, and too soon come at that....

Naw mane I'd rather us invest that doe on Nick Young. Roy is like the new T-Mac (high risk/low reward). lol
