And just when we got some hope that he might play- now the official word is that he's done for the season:
---
EL SEGUNDO — For Chris Kaman, this season can be summed up in six words.
"So many injuries, it's been ridiculous," the Clippers center said.
One of the latest has caused Kaman to shut down for the Clippers' remaining five games. Kaman said Monday there is not enough time left in the season for him to rebound from the sprained right ankle he suffered a week ago.
"I'm done," Kaman said. "We only have nine days left in the season."
Kaman tested his ankle Sunday, hours before the Clippers' game against Houston. But he found his ankle remains weak and he was unable to jump off his right foot.
Kaman's injury occurred two days before Elton Brand made his season debut, after missing the first 74 games recovering from a ruptured left Achilles' tendon.
"I wanted to play with Elton and I wanted to finish the season on a good note," Kaman said. "This year wasn't good for anybody."
Kaman had a break-through season. During the first 39 games of the season, Kaman was a leading candidate for the NBA's most improved player award. Illness and injury will cause Kaman to miss a career-high 26 games this season. But he has achieved career highs in points per game (15.7), rebounds per game (12.7), blocked shots per game (2. and points-rebounds double-doubles (36).
It was Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy's hope that Brand would be able to play with Kaman for the final eight games of the season, not only as a prelude to next season but to give the Clippers' a hefty one-two, low-post tandem in their final stretch of games against Western Conference teams vying for playoff berths.
Peppy practice
In what has been a rarity this season, the Clippers had 11 players available to practice Monday. The result was one of the most energetic practices they have had. An animated Cuttino Mobley sparked the red team, which starred Brand. But in the end, the blue team, sparked by rookie Al Thornton, prevailed in the full-court scrimmage, which included a pair of short overtime sessions.
The five-on-five play featured some vintage Brand play.
"Today was definitely the best day, as far as seeing him do things that I haven't seen him do," Dunleavy said. "And that's the value of practice, which we haven't had. We were lucky to have guys come back and we were able to do it."
That included forward Tim Thomas, who has missed the past five games because of inflammation of both Achilles' tendons. Thomas is on target to play Tuesday against the Denver Nuggets.
Forward Corey Maggette has been ruled out because of a strained right hamstring suffered Sunday.
Seats available
The Clippers announced that 1,000 tickets remain for the game at Staples Center against Denver. Approximately 900 of the tickets are located in the lower bowl and priced from $68-175.

| New Orleans had some key players injured last year and had a rough rough year...This year they're one of the best in the league. That should give us hope. Granted we dont have Chris Paul, but we do have Elton Brand, Chris Kaman and Al Thornton...which is still better than having David West and Peja. Chris Paul deserves MVP. The guy has impacted that team so much its incredible. We need a backcourt assembled and we are probably gonna have a turnaround similar to the Hornets. Provided the injuries arent there. |

| and provided we keep a nice team TOGETHER. NO Hornets had the same core people return in the following season, we on the other hand are unstable. |
