Very easily by trading gasol, artest and Bynum. They free up over 42 million. This is a no brainer.

I am a huge Steve Nash fan. There is no doubt he has made the Lakers much better. If the lakers last year were a 2nd round team. Next year they will reach at least the WCF. I could also see them reaching the finals against Miami. If the Lakers get Dwight forget it. They will beat Miami for the NBA title hands down. The getting Dwight will be the icing on the cake. The only way we reverse this if we sign D12. The notion that Nash and Kobe won't mesh is a joke. Nash is one of the most unselfish players in the history of the NBA. He is also one of the best passers the game has ever saw. He only thing that might slow him up a little is his age and lack of playing defense. But he is a better passer and pure shooter than CP3. CP3 is a better defender and is younger. Nash has give us fits with a weak team in Phoneix. You can only imagine what he'll do with the talent of the Lakers. This is a serious acquisition for the Lakers. I am happy that Nash will have the ability to run for a title. Even though I am a Clippers first. I like Nash and If the Lakers pass is in the Playoffs I would root for them to win a title for Nash. Hopefully they never beat our Clippers that would kill me though. Great pick up by the lakers.

Disagree. Nash, the HOF'r is going to make them much better and IF they pull off a Bynum for Howard trade (which is quite possible)....ouch.

HOF'er by his past, not his present. In Feb., he's going to be 39 years old.

Yup, he is soon to be 39, but still produces better numbers then most players 10 years his junior. Plus, he makes everyone around him better.

No matter how you spin it, the Lakers starting 5 is better on paper than they were last year.

I was wondering if the there are some under the table kickbacks to other league execs. "Here are a couple number sequences... they may or may not be the account number and password to a large account in the Cayman Islands <wink>". Dell Demps was probably pissed when Stern overruled Razz

I have mixed emotions about this trade.

Bad: we are mortgaing the future to try and win titles with Kobe's last two years of decent play.

We just increased in age by 14 years at the pg spot

We are apparently going all in for the now and appeasing Kobe, not what's best for the franchise.

Good: we just took the ball out of Kobe's hands consistently

We just found a pg who will actually get others involved versus Kobe's getting guys involved by having the bigs get his rebounds

We actually have a better chance of keeping Bynum who I feared wouldn't resign

We have another playmaker on the floor, the Lakers truly lacked in that area.

Maybe guys will come to LA to sign on the cheap to play with Nash, I don't feel guys really wanted to play with Kobe if he has the ball so much.

This reminds me of the Gasol trade extremely one sided.. Man **** PHX they just made the fakers so much better should've just sent his ass to NY or TOR

this coming from a flaker fan. they needed to get younger and did the exact opposite. this trade didnt make them a title contender. the flakers are very very thin regarding their bench. good to great starting 5+dleague level bench= average to possibly good team.

thats the main point. if you look at their team this is their current roster.

starting 5:

nash, kobe, artest, gasol, bynum

bench:

blake, ebanks, mcroberts, murphy, goudelock, morris. not exactly a formidable bench. barnes is not on the list since he may leave the lakers. jordan hill is in the same situation.

in essence, the lakers might start off winning, but their bench will give up leads or they will force the lakers to play nash, kobe, artest, gasol and bynum heavy minutes. this will catch up to them during an 82 game season.

Premature prognostication. wink

The Lakers either go big ( Howard), or they get a small piece of the thinning pool of FA's. My guess is that there is a huge chance Howard doesn't go there but might end up with Hill at the most.

Maybe that same grand prediction can be said about our beloved Clipps....Chuckle.

howard will probably be in orlando until the all star break and then get traded before the trade deadline. the flakers cant do much aside from signing grant hill. the clips still have the space to make some moves. hopefully we add a legit backup 5 and maybe a sf who can shoot.

Who said anything about contender I said better, I'm not yelling championship. Both LA teams are not championship material as things stand okc are still the favorites. Lakers would of been worse with mo, clippers did them a favor by not dealing with them.

i was not referring to you when saying the trade didnt make them a contender, just to the media outlets and 95 percent of flaker fans who are already claiming this trade will net them a championship. hell the clippers are a better team on paper. people discount the fact we beat okc 3 times with a depleted team out of 4. we match up well with okc. with this new team, we will be in the midst of contending this season. i would say we are true contenders, if we get a solid backup 5 and we resign NY, or brandon rush. having incredible depth will push us to another level.

Odds are opening night the Lakers starting line up will be Nash/Kobe/MWP/Pau/Dwight Howard. FML

I don't think they have enough cap to have all of those players.

Lmao this is gonna turn out bad for them. They could have a great PG, or not have one at all. Either way Kobe has the ball in his hands. Nash is gonna be an over paid stand still shooter for them

This was Kobe's chance to prove that he could play with a pure PG. Looks like it's the same d ****. Steve Nash is just another Derek Fisher. And Faker fans still think Chris Paul would've helped them.

Kebo just turned Nash into a glorified Derek Fisher. He needs the ball in his hands to thrive. He is no Lebron he can't defer to other players and is too ball dominant.

Players like CP3 and Lebron actually adjusts their games while cancers like Kobe do not and frankly cannot. Kobe needs the ball otherwise he isn't effective.
