While i know were getting exited about the draft and getting youth, but i want to have a contending team next season. I was reading in the L.A times that Artest may make himself available next year. I was thinking of letting Maggette go and picking him up. He is a better defender and can score on the other end. Now in those close games late in the 4th quarter we dont have to sub or because our best defenders and scorers should be on the court. He can guard player like Kobe all the way up to Tim Duncan. While the draft may make us better Brand is not getting younger and i want him to compete for a championship and not just the playoffs

    Think about it stating lineup(projected)

pg:knight-livingston(depending on how well he is heeled)
    sg:Artest
    sf:thorton
    pf:brand
    c:kaman
And maybe we may still have a play for miller with cat mobeleys contract expiring sooner than miller

PS With a healthy Livingston No one in the line up will be shorter than 6'7

I dont think Artest would be good for this team. Reasons stated in many earlier posts. Kevin Martin is SACTO's best player, not Artest.

No. His attitude and style of play doesn't really fit the team. His defense is impressive, but look at us we're only scoring 70/85 pts. a game

When you get right down to it Artest is one of the very best basketball players in the NBA. He can pretty much do it all, and with attitude no less. He's a monster on defense and when on, one of the toughest covers in the league. Unfortunately in his career so far he's been about as stable as your average beaker of nitroglycerin. Controversy and bizarre happenings follow the guy like Mary's little lamb. Look it up, flagrant fouls and the melee in Michigan are only the most high profile of his transgressions. Toss in cruelty to animals and domestic abuse and you get a clearer picture. Great ballplayer, and I'm all for second (third? fourth?) chances, but he'd have to do three or four years clean before I'd even consider him if I was the GM doing the hiring. These guys earn a lot of money. A LOT. You make a mistake on a contract and you end up paying for it for a long time. Not worth the risk. JMO.

Guys the Doc' says he's bipolar (don't you hate it when people refer to themselves in the 3rd person?) He's another Tyson. Remember Jermaine told the Pacers one of them had to go.

Its a tough call. He is solid, but I really think our focus needs to be on the PG position. Look at all the West powers, then look at their PGs...(CP3, Deron Williams, Parker, BDavis, AI, JKidd). With the exception of the lakers and rockets, all teams have all star caliber PGs

I agree. I went to both Sacramento games this year. He was invisible in both games. He has significantly dropped in production in recent years.

Back when they considered a 1-for-1 swap with Indy for Corey a few year back ... maybe. But now he's just a shadow. And I'm not even considering his mental state which DWB has well detailed.

It would be one that would be considered as the biggest blunder for the clippers to sign Artest.

Not because he'll be bringing some baggage along with him, it is because of his production has consistently dropped over the years. The only thing that has carried his name along the NBA whispers, ooh's & ahh's is that of the Detriot/Indiana incident. Nevertheless, it would be a big mistake for the Clippers to sign Artest.

seroiusly, our main focus should be, i think, either a point guard or a shooter(not scorer, i think there is a difference)

artest doesn't fill either of those catagories
