So Far Neil Olshey Is Doing Squat

Brandon Roy did not return. Jamal Crawford departs to sign with the Clippers. He tried to lure Chauncey Billups to Portland but failed. Indiana matches Olshey's offer for Hibbert. Olshey says he may not match and could lose Nicholas Batum. Other free agent targets have signed with other teams. So far, Neil Olshey seems like a bust. If there is some good news here for the Blazers, I would like to hear about it. Are they going to rebuild with draft picks? Is Neil going to be a bust in Portland?

ANd look how good we're doing without him. The only good move he made was bringing NY!Other than that, he jammed our damn roster with too many pgs. CP3 trade was all DTS! Or you know 75% DTS!

Not when they draft a PG that doesn't pass. Neil is ruining the Blazers.

Poor blazers! Glad we don't have him running the show here. See Neil that's what happens when you decide to take more money over good situation!

I think the Blazers are in a place where they have to get worse to get better. Letting Crawford go was a no-brainer. Even if you like Crawford's talent, holding onto a 32-year-old vet and extending him for several years isn't the thing to do when you're trying to rebuild as the Blazers are.

Hibbert was a good gamble, but it was a virtual certainty that Indiana would match. He inherited a dysfunctional group of players. He's letting them go. Even Batum, who is a talent, probably isn't worth the money he's going to get.

The NBA is about to enter a strange new world where the effects of the new salary cap won't be known for a couple years. I think a lot of teams are going to stitch themselves into a corner and won't be able to make any moves in a few years. Teams that are under the cap at that time will have tremendous leverage as players salaries are driven down.

If I were in a rebuilding mode, I'd be making sure I wasn't loading up on big salaries right now... Obviously, this strategy wouldn't work for teams that are contenders now like the Clippers, but for non contenders, soon teams will be able to restock in a hurry.

It's not like we'll be bad after next year cause we only have veterans. Every team has to go through rebuilding, and now the sun shines on Clipper Nation!

I wouldn't say offering a grip of players the max (but getting rejected) is a bust. Hibbert wanted to be there. Batik will be back. They've got valuable picks.

Doing a decent job for a rebuilding bottom feeder.

Roy couldn't come back to the Blazers even if both parties wanted him to, he wouldn't be allowed to

Also, his personality has changed since arriving at Portland. There is a bit of old testament nastiness going on with his negotiations with Batum. I think Paul Allen's influence is really having an effect on him.

His career literally seems to be ruining before our eyes up there in the dreary city.

Allen pulls all the strings. He's eaten up more GM's in the last 2 years than teams in a decade. Allen has been known to micromanage his GM's.

Hey, that's Olshey's dream job.

When you look at his overall body of work with us, you realize he didnt do that good of a job. Truly, his best move was his trade for Nick Young. Everything else was either a bad move or lucky.

Olshey wanted Lebron and we got Gomes. IF you want to claim he got us CP3, he must also claim the Gomes deal as well. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you step in s**t. It happens to everyone. I never thought he was great the way some fans (insert your name here) made him out to be. He is no Jerry West nor will he ever be. He's trying to fix a huge mess in Portland, which is where he said he wanted to be.

Wow... Dude did his job when he was with us... Lucky or not, under his term we picked up some steam. For that I am grateful... This site is getting to be more and more venomous and negative with every new user. Not a scene I am too thrilled about. The only thing I can say is thanks, but ope that our team stays better than our opponents.

am not convinced Olshey can draft.... like the Meyers Leonard pick, but think Lillard would have been better in NOLA.... would have gone BPA/Terrence Ross myself if I was Neil.... also think I would have focused on Omar Asik rather than Hibbert, although that wasn't a bad move, and would have been a great one if he pulled it off.... was a bit surprised by that one.... good luck to him though, it ain't easy bein' a GM....

Marc Stein-Source close to process says Portland & Charlotte have indeed told Brook Lopez they're ready to sign him today to four-year max offer sheet.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... ur_Seasons

-Neil Olshey loves to throw money at big men who don't deserve it. Lopez got injured twice last season and the guy can barely rebound. Portland, Charlotte, and Brooklyn are ready to give this guy max money? Smh.

At least we got a guy that is very athletic( that's just a diamond in the ruff by itself) and he has a very high improvement ceiling! I'm confident he'll come back a new man! (better player)

Why the hell would you bring back Brandon Roy when his career is almost over and the pain in his knees is so bad he has to take shots before each game?

Why would you bring back Jamal Crawford when he shot 38% from the floor for you, the worst year he's ever had?

Olshey isn't a bust. Greg ODEN is a bust.

the other thing that Olshey did that might bite him in the arse, is selling off the rights to Tyshaun Taylor.... he would have been a very good hedge against Lillard, who he might be better than when all is said and done.... disappointed we weren't the ones ponying up for Taylor....

Neil finally did something. Resigned one of his own players JJHickson, and brought Victor Claver from Spain who as yet has not played in the NBA These moves will definitely put Portland over the top! LOL

The owner in Portland takes coaches and GM's, has them for lunch, chews them up and spits them out with regularity. I wonder how long before Neil is back with the Clippers in his old job before he was GM. Neil needs a couple of big moves. Soon. Or the fans will start to get restless.

Olshey is funny. 1st he clamors all over Canales at Olsheys press conference that you thought hed be the next coach. Then he gets turned down by 2 HOF coaches. Now he's at summer league checking out whats for sale. GM of the year 2013 i'm sure. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_19

Doesn't mean he would have don nothing as the Clippers GM, it is a whole diferent team and set of needs, etc. The sky is falling attitude of some when he left was overboard and ambarassing though. He was a shrewd dealer, but he also made his share of mediocre moves, and it is a learning process.

In terms of players, they didn't want Crawford back, I'm not even sure if they could have re-signed Roy, or if he even wanted to come back. They will probably end up matching Batum, but I'm not even sure if that is actually a good move.

This makes me glad Olshey left check out these tweets from Peter Vescey and some other guy :

Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1 9h

Neai Olshey is bs'ing

Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1 8h

A source says Paul Allen was supposed to meet with Phil pre-Olshey. Then he & agent Warren LeGarie froze out Phil: No meeting.

Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1 8h

Phil wanted to come in at a president level and 'maybe' coach this season, Most likely he would've inserted B Shaw & assisted at home ga

Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1 8h

Phil still would entertain pres job, But Legarie/Olshey "are leaking info so as to dissuade Allen from considering such," source claims.

Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1 4h

Wondering where Allen's head/health is at: Hires Olshey after puppeteer/agent LeGarie deceived him re other (fired) front office clients

Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1 4h

Then Allen allows (?) Olshey/LeGarie to keep meeting with Jackson from happening. What was he told? Phil didn't cancel meet.

Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1 4h

Clearly, Olshey doesn't want Phil as his boss. Once deceptive duo leaked Phil/Sloan weren't interested in coaching Blazers it gave agent

Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1 4h

clear path to push another client, namely Memphis assistant David Joeger, who Grizzly colleagues and vital played find untrustworthy.
