My question is what was are offence last year. I saw a lot of pick and roll's but who's play book did it come out of? Was if Marc Ivarroinni? What would be the best offense for are team this year or what is it going to be? We know the Lakers "Princeston" so what's ours? Anybody know?

Oh ya, it didn't seem to work with the pick and roll with Blake. It worked better with the pick and pop when Paul was with David West. Maybe we should use Caron on the pick and Pop rather than Blake. All I know is in the fourth quarter, Chris takes over and runs isolation like Nick Van Exel, one which can pass.

Currently, Vinny Del Negro has the 3-guard lineup. Three guards (point or shooting) will fill in for the top three positions. Vinny thinks the shooting guard and small forward positions are closely related, making that spot interchangeable. A very well known example of a small forward who plays like a SG is Carmelo Anthony. Others in that list include Andre Iguodola, Christian Eyenga, Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant.

During the summer league, we actually had a small forward who can play the shooter. That man's name is Adam Morrison. If Morrison makes the final spot, Del Negro can have an offense onslaught in the back court that would include any combination of Chris Paul, Chauncey Billups, Jamal Crawford, Eric Bledsoe, Willie Green and Adam Morrison. That's if AmMo gets in - Travis Leslie is still with the group, making his nomination for a roster spot next to impossible. From the little information I got from insider Eric Patten, the reason Vinny brought in Bob Ociepka is for his ability to set up strategies and systems, something that Vinny struggled on, and could not be able to do on his own.

Our offense is called the NO Offense. CP3 rolls the ball to about half court. CP3 picks up the ball and dribbles a lot. Waits for BG to set a fake screen. BG rolls to the basket. While everyone else watches the ball. CP3 dribbles some more than decides to either shoot or pass the ball.

That's called No Offense.

At least that's what I saw and we got pummelled because of it in the Spurs series!

Sorry couldnt help but laugh when you listed Carmelo, Iguodola, Kawhi Leonard and Durant and also listed Christian Eyenga. Their are alot of other names you could have listed. LOL

The SF spot and SG spot can be interchangeable if you have 2 guards with some height. It is basically the same position except the small forward is asked to rebound the ball more.

he should also be built better, and play better defense. Guards are offense! Small forwards are allrounds!

Still no one has answered the question. What system are we running. Do we have any coaches on the site who could say what would be the best system to run with our personel.

Like... Jason Kapono?

Morrison proved he was capable of doing that in the last game against the Celtics. Point guards can get rebounds, too. Just look at Eric Bledsoe or Chris Paul.

There currently is no real system in place; only a line-up. The entire coaching staff is really an enigma. Maybe I could ask the folks at Clipperblog if they can look further into it.

We'll be sticking with a pick'n'roll based offense again. It makes sense given the skill of our PG and the athleticism of Blake. In order to improve it's effectiveness, we need more motion from the guys off the ball.

Nobody is better than CP3 at hitting a moving target, so the wings need to keep giving him options. Chauncey was a master at it, which is why we were getting better looks from deep when he was in.

If we can keep the defense moving, we'll have 3 very good options every time down the floor... the P'n'R itself, kicking out to open shooters, and if we can move enough to force a switch... DJ, cutting to the hoop.

It's essentially what Pop does. Perpetual motion is the key.

The 2nd unit will be more suited to playing stifling defense and relying mostly on transition offense. If they ARE forced into the half-court, iso's for Crawford or Odom is the way to go, as they're likely to be far superior to their bench counterparts.

That's my guess, anyway.

I call it the Anti-Dunleavy offense. While Dunleavy had to get his slimy fingers on every play, VDN mostly lets his PG do anything he wants. The offense is mostly post ups for Griffin, or CP3 doing his thing. It was slow paced, but very efficient during the regular season.

Yeah, it was both hilarious and frustrating to watch Dumbleavy running up and down the side lines screaming out plays from that complicated phone book of offensive schemes under his arm while the players were trying to figure out what the f*#k he was say'n, lol.

When you have as talented a PG as Paul, its' probably best to let him do his thing most of the time.

But we still need a few go to plays and some sort of system besides the pick n roll. I'm not worried about offense but what the f**k are we gonna do on defense? For defense we totally need some traps or something! Are there any plays for limiting jump shooting big men?

Very significant point Tense. Funny as vdn did that all last season but his haters wanted him to get fired and critisized him beeing a dumbfool coach for doing that and not calling 111.111 plays on the team in a shortened season.

ts fine to let cp3 do his thing buts its the guys off the ball that dont move and just stand around. Thats where VDN needs to make their life easier becuase they are not CP3 and need plays to get them easy shots.

We have very good games when we incorporate some nice plays. And the pick and roll 2 on 2 with DJ and CP3 is BEAUTIFUL!

i agree with u hoop. cp3 is indeed a coach on the court. sometimes he can force some plays and may dribble a lil too much but thats usually due to people not cutting to the basket or spotting up for the open jumper. thats where vdn needs to focus. emphasize cuts to the basket, quick touch passes out of double teams and spotting up for open jumpers. that will only make cp3 even deadlier.

I honestly see us going to WCF next season! Depth was pretty much a problem last season, cause we had no big men!

OUR OFFENSE is UNORGANIZED. Its CP3 running the plays and a pick and roll where there are no back picks, just Blake popping up to the top of the key and missing a 15 footer. This is why Vinny is a great motivational coach and AWFUL Xs and Os coach. When I visited my friends in Chicago, all of them HATED Vinny. They all said "Good luck with Vinny" because he's known not to be confident with set plays, he just tells his team to give the ball to Derrick Rose or Chris Paul (Imagine if Vinny never had those two PGs) and tells everyone to follow their lead. Amazing coaching skills.

I would say this though... Vinny has done an excellent job offseason along with our F.O. and proven me wrong so let's give him a chance this year. At least the first half of the season.

As far as last year, I watchd EVERY SINGLE GAME, half of the home games at Staples, and VINNY DEL NEGRO is the most MEDIOCRE COACH IN THE NBA. We don't have a set offense. The Spurs get so many layups from a disciplined offense with picks, screens, back picks, rolls, cutting to the basket. Our OFFENSIVE SCHEMES SUCKED ASS bc often times there was none.

Hey Clipper Starter, I've been talking to you for years. Anyhow, we better start running some x"s and o's or were not going to beat the Lakers. I give Vinny credit for beating Memphis, that was fantastic, but I would love to have a strong system in place and then in the fourth quarter let Chris do his thing. We better forget this stupid pick and pop with Blake missing his 15 footer, it's not working. We need Caron to be the pick and pop guy. I guess I'm not so confident in Blake. He's a good post player, but when a 7 footer guards him like Gasol, he can't score and he doesn't have the jumper. We need to demote him to a solid starter role and not super star if were going to win. We are a guard oriented team, opposite of the lakers whom are strong in the front court. Yes Nash and Kobe are some of the best in the back court ever, but there old and I doubt both of them will be around in the playoffs. The one great thing we got to beat the Lakers is the mid range game of Chris Paul. He doesn't have to penetrate, just beat Nash to get into the paint.

I don't agree. Griffin has some fantastic post game and he's been working on his jumper the whole summer. He HAS to be one of our stars if we want to win! And we have to figure out how to block all those shots Kobe takes from above the head in close coverage!

The system will be the same as last year... Give the ball to CP3, spot up, post up, set a pick or make a cut and perhaps CP3 will give it back.

Once Griffin's post game is more perfected and he has more confidence in his mid range jumper, that will be our main offensive flow. There will be many plays where CP3 isolates, whether it's to take the last shot in the half/game or when we are trying to kill the clock. He'll drive, hope to get a lay up and/or get fouled.

Chauncey, Crawford and Butler will be sitting around 3pt range ready to bury shots. All 3 are more than capable of creating their own shots. However, I would like to see some sort of organization out there and we don't just "wing it" or have CP3 say put me out there, or I can do it coach.

we need a play where someone cuts to the basket while someone is cutting to the 3 line. That's what SA did!
