The Clippers are the rising team...a king can never run the throne forever...he eventually has to cone down and be replaced! As long as CP3, Blake Griffin and the clippers team keep a focuaed derermined mibd, i dont see anyone stopping them in the West!

My prediction: Clippers will win the title before kobe retires!

Kobe? Kobe is yesterday's news. He's no where near Jordan. Hell, Kobe has won half his rings when he wasn't the most dominant player on the team. Poor Kobe, Nash and Howard are going to overshadow him again. lol

Lakers fans have new toys to play with. They better hope they win it this season cause it looks like a 1 year window. What I mean by that is that after next season, they'll have to make more changes. Either a new coach, or finally getting rid of Gasol. Like I said, that team isn't sustainable.

Who cares? Bill Russell has more rings than fingers. Some authorities may rank his above or only slightly behind Kobe

Everyone shouldnt be so concerned with what the cross town rival is going to do. We should just show poise. The Lakers went and got Dwight Howard without giving anything up. Cant hate on them that they always find a sucker in a trade.

Exactly. People here think they traded away Nick Fazekas for Dwight Coward.

No, they traded away the beast center in the West for the Best center in the East!

Sorry bro....got to disagree with u....lets not forget that lakers have tried to put together this suppose to be allstar super squad years ago...when they had...gary payton, karl malon, kobe and shaq...abd what qas the results ... A big failure!...trust....alot of sports analyst believe abd know that the clippers are the sleeper team...and lets not also forget tgat we dominated okc last season...and split with mami....so if they couldnt hang with that team, imagine gow they will fall against this clipper squad we have now...lets let the truth be told...we are a nightmare for alot of NBA teams...they cant match us!...we are too deep at every position! We will get a title before kobe retires!

MJ won six while being the best player on his team. Kobe his first three shaq was insane. Look up shaqs finals numbers it was outrageous. If kobe wins again he would have won only 2 rings being the best player on his team. Also kobe has hardly ever had great final games. The two rings he recently got the lakers won despite how bad kobe played.

I just hate the comparison to MJ. Yes kobe might be the closest thing to him but its not close of who was the better player. Kobe can score and thats about it. MJ was a better re bounder better passer and played better defense.

Naw....not worried about memphis or okc....we dominated okc last season with a team that is no where near as good as the team we have now...and memphis cant matxh our depth...i like our odds...

Closest thing to MJ....naw.....i wouldnt say all that....one thing MJ did that kobe will never do is make other teamates better...he's to arrogant and self supportive for that...

This is what I hate doing...defending the Flakers. First off, Payton and Malone were well past their prime and nearing retirement. Howard is just entering his prime. Kobe will still be a 25+ point scorer. Nash seems like a young 38-year old who can still average 10 assists. Gasol may have had an off-year last year because of the emergence of Bynum. And lastly, how was that fab 4 team a failure? They won 56 games and made it to the NBA Finals. I know to them, anything less than a title is a failure but it wasn't like that team was a total flop.

Nash and Jamison are past their prime. Kobe is past his prime. The only young guy on that time close to his prime is also a question mark. And while Nash shot his best %, or tied his best (06'-07'), he also had his lowest PPG in 12 years. That tells me he is still efficient but maybe his stamina isn't the same anymore.

Kobe is a very inefficient scorer now. He's all volume shooting. He either has it, or doesn't. Even the most avid Lakers fans know he's not close to the same player he was 5 yrs ago.

Look again. Both Payton and Malone were coming off all star seasons and were at the tail end of their prime, not "well passed" their prime. Kobe, Nash, Jamison and Gasol are all players they have been declining and it doesn't take a genius to see that. Their only young building block is Dwight and that's the bottom line. Great team for 2 years, 3 max and then it's rebuild around Dwight time.

Of course there is going to be animosity and it's exactly the same whenever the Clippers make a good move the last two seasons and LTB is littered with anti Clippers crap. Your message board makes fun of us?

The very thing you're criticizing us for?

How will we ever survive?

I think you're confusing jealousy with contempt, douchebag. Go back to jerking off over swapping a center that finally got healthy after 7 years for one who's crippled for half his remaining contract.

You should lay off telling our mods how to do their job... I don't see them giving you advice on sucking d!ck.

Point taken. But the thing is, the Lakers that are past their prime this year are closer to their prime than Malone and Payton were. Of course, their (Malone and Payton) declining numbers they put up with the Lakers were due to the triangle system and they had to play alongside Shaq and Kobe. We shall see how this year's Lakers will do. But I'm afraid Nash will do a lot better than Payton did since Payton had to deal with a system that he never fit into.

BTW, do you check if the trolls are the same ones that you banned in the past? I mean, why do they keep coming back if you keep banning them? I wonder if they're from Lakers topbuzz?

Grillin I hate to correct you again but it's not true that these guys are closer to their prime than Malone and Payton were. Malone is comparable to Nash in that regard but Payton was just as far away from retirement as Kobe and Gasol are.

2003 Payton put up 20.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 8.5 apg, 1.8 spg and was still an elite defender and all star. Nash just put up 12.5 ppg, 3 rpg and just under 11 apg with his terrible D. Not to mention Payton was 34, Nash is 38.

2003 Malone put up 20.6 ppg, 8 rpg, 4.7 apg and 1.7 spg and was a very good defender the last handful of years of his career.

Nash and Kobe have already said they will retire within 3 years. Gasol will be 35 when his contract expires in 2 seasons and he will obviously be declining more rapidly. The point I'm trying to make is in the short term this team is incredible but it won't last long.

Sorry but no. Wilt only won two championships while being one of a couple big guys in the league. The NBA in the early 90's had the most overall talent in NBA history and Jordan dominated. Jordan had pippen but that is all. Besides rodman for the last couple years.

I'm just speaking numbers. MJ is 3rd in scoring. Wilt, Malone, MJ. If you're talking about impact then of course MJ had the biggest impact of all time on the NBA! Ask anyone in the world who MJ is most of them will know!

cp3best, stop basing everything off stats or rings. if that were the case, then bill russell is the best player of all time with 11 rings. jordan transcended basketball. he was a 2 way beast. both offensively and defensively. he was a proven winner. didnt force game winning shots, he deferred when he had to. he did not have a "me first" attitude. he played within the parameters of team basketball. played with his brain and not his ego. on a funny side note, hes the only basketball player who was able to give it his best shot at playing pro baseball. although if he hadnt done that, the rockets dont win back to back titles. he would easily have at least 9 titles instead of 6.

^ok. lol. and yes, that happened. after jordan's third title in a row, he suffered a tragedy. his dad was murdered. soon after he retired from basketball. then he decided to try to become a pro baseball player. he struggled a lot at first, but by the end of the second season, he was on the verge of becoming a major leaguer, had the baseball strike of 1994 not taken place. so like i said, jordan did indeed transcend basketball. he would have joined deion sanders as the only 2 sport athletes to play in major sports leagues.

Funny how a lot of people say Jordan didn't really have anyone besides Pippen. Dude had the best defensive player on the perimter in Pippen, not to mention he was an mvp candidate player when Jordan wasnt playing if anyone remembered. Jordan aso had one of the best three point shooter on his team in Steve Kerr. The best Rebounder in Rodman. Horace grant was no joke. Tony kukoc was was one of the best euro players at the time. Jordan had a good team. They did well without him.

For those saying well kobe was a ball hog didnt know when to pass and that Jordan did. Thats BS. Jordan was just as bad at hogging the ball. Only diff was he made more shots. Dude was such a ball hog, he had comercials for oscar myers, talking about pass the mustard. Don't get me wrong Jordan was a fantastic player, but we have to remember, everyone has their take on best player. If me of you are describing how good he was because of what he did, then barring if Lebron can win as many rings he maybe the better player. Defensively can guard maube 4 or 5 positions. Offensively better passer. If his post game get even better watch out. Better rebounder. So its all subjective to opinion. Some say Wilt because he was so dominant, some magic or bird because of what they did for the game, others MJ, or even russel because of ring and we cant forget the big O. He was a walking triple double.

When its all said and done LBJ will be the greatest to ever do it. He's a 1 man double-team and a force on offence while shooting about 50%. And of course when his careers over he will have the most glamourous stat sheet anyone has ever seen.
