Clippers - 69 mil salaries under the tax

Lakers - 99 mil salaries almost 29 mil over the tax

When you compare the rosters of the 2 teams, I would say we have an edge! Now one question I have is how in the world are the lakers gonna pay 78 million in tax and 99 million in salaries, when they only make 125-150 million per season?

Frankly I don't think they will, either they will amnesty one of their big contracts like Gasol or trade him for some chump for salary like Orlando traded Anderson for Ayon for salary! Your thoughts?

CP, they have a HUGE contract from Time Warner that nets them nearly as much a net gate receipts do. It's a Yankees sort of deal I beleive.

It's going to by so musch sweater when we win the Chip and they are paying 2/3 more than us. They are paying around $180mil to watch us put up a banner.

In my opinion, Lakers are better than us.

Nash, Howard, and Kobe have never been #2 options. that can't end well for the Lakers in my opinion

I just enjoy the long term flexibility we have as of right now. At seasons end, we should be able to re-sign Chris Paul to a max deal, while also retaining the likes of Lamar Odom and Chauncey Billups if they so desire. Even in the scenario in which those players left via retirement or signing elsewhere, we'd still have a tad bit of room to bring in new quality guys. This team is undoubtedly built for long term success and flexibility. Gary Sacks has definitely earned the GM's job.

Nash started his career as a bench warmer. Kobe was shaq's sidekick and Howard always took a backseat to turkolu in the 4th quarter. So idk where u got that they've never been #2

Not to be a dick or anything but why are we so obsessed with comparing the Clippers and the Lakers?.... can we just focus on the Clippers? ... these threads make us sound scared and insecure..

I don't think the threads make us sound scared at all, I think it's just the hype and the anticipation of a great series against them. I can't wait to see their faces when we beat them.

I was actually thinking something similar to your thought... But like ArtClip said its probably because of the hype and anticipation of the season.

You're right Nash wasn't the #1 guy for what 2 years? And Dwight was the go to guy the second he got drafted. And tell me again how great it worked out for the Lakers when Kobe's ego got in the way of Shaq because he was the #2 guy. If i recall it forced Shaq out of L.A. with Phil, I'm guessing it can happen again.

Yeah, and Howard hated that SVG used him less in the 4th qtr. He cried just like Kobe did before Shaq was traded. Both those guys went public about not being number one. So while you're technically correct, you're proving his point by the results of those players' actions.

Howard cried about not having the offense run through him, Kobe cried about not being number one, and you have a PG who needs the ball in his hands to be effective. When Nash had Porter and Shaq, he basically sucked cause the offense was about going inside. Nash also cried about not liking the offense. Yeah, someone is going to be #3, lets not focus on solely on who's going to be #2.

That's why I'm glad Clippers here got good attitude guys, I never heard DJ complaining when he was taken out in the 4th while he was on a roll, if anything our guys need to be a little more selfish, oh and you forgot MWP, dude was some kind of star before he came to the lakers, now he's just in the back bragging about his phsichiatrist helping him get over the fact that Kobe never passes the ball!

Nash was more like his first 4 or 5 years. Kobe's ego did force Shaq out but that was after they won 3 championships together so that worked out pretty good.

Let's talk some clipper basketball, this is laker basketball about kobe and Shaq, we shouldn't talk about them so much, bigger problems are out there like Boston, Miami, OKC, and we'll have to beat those too in 4 or 5 games!

^ We only play Eastern teams twice each... 1 home, 1 road.

Division rivals 4 times each... 2 home, 2 road.

Rest of the West... 3 or 4 times each... depending on the schedulers' whims, best I can tell.

Well, the NBA doesn't.

I'd be ecstatic to go 2-2 with Miami this year... if the two we lose are the ones in China wink

Well my bad, I'm sorry, I didn't mean the standings though. Don't know why but we murdered the lakers in the preseason last year! And we had no backup bigs whatsoever!
