Well, I have two questions for this forum
1) Who deserves the MVP award?
2) Who is going to get the MVP award?
For me:
1) Chris Paul-- He's had a great season, and truly deserves it.
2) Kobe Bryant-- Only because the Lakers finished #1 in the West, I'm pretty sure he's going to get it (no matter how painful it is to me) |

1) It is really tough, CP3 makes that team tick, but Kobe kept the lakers on top without Bynum and Gasol.
2) Kobe, i think it is just his time... |

I think the Lakers struggled during the period between Bynum and Gasol. They didn't get hot until after the Gasol trade. Therefore, I think Gasol was really the MVP of the Lakers. They would not be a #1 seed without him.
Nevertheless, I think they'll give it to Kobe (pains me also). |

1) CP3 or LeBron
2) i refuse to answer because no player with teammates like fisher, gasol, bynum, odom, and radmonovich deserves MVP. Defeats the purpose of the award... He's one of the best players in the league, but they can win without him. |

i think kg should . what is team has done this year has been ridiculous.
basically i want anyone but kobe though.
i would have stopped being a clipper fan if he would have signed with the clippers. it pains me to even think about that, but i really do dislike kobe.
to me it seems like he hates his teammates, but tries to ask like he likes them when the cameras are on. he is also rude, cocky, and an overall bad person.... RAPE
either way, kobe is most likely going to win it. |

Thats Funny, great minds think alike. I have said and felt everything you posted.
If I am not mistaken, you are referring to Kobe talking to Farmar while he was on the bench...right? I thought the same thing. Farmar looked like he wanted to listen to Jackson instead of Kobe who just came into the picture giving unsolicited advice. Funny thing is they started to take over the game once Kobe sat down. |

| I think cp deserves it more than anyone. Kobe bashed his teammates and the Lakers front office in the off season. Now that Bynum grew up and matured he wants to give him props. Lets not forget superstars are not suppose to act the way he did unless they really did get mistreated. And there record would not have been that great if Gasol had not been gift wraped to them. Cp got the respect of his teammates and carried them this whole year, even making everyone notice that david west is a good player and was greatly underated. If Kobe does get he its because he should have gotten it a couple of years ago. |

wowwwww. I am with you 100% on that bro. I do think in the season Chris Paul deserves the MVP. People need to understand what the Most Valuable Player award means. When your team consists of Derek Fisher, Lamar Odom, Vladimir Radmonovich, Trevor Arizza, Andrew Bynum, Jordan Farmar, and Pau Gasol... I dont care if you are Micheal Jordan (which is very hard for me to say) you are not the MOST VALUABLE player on your team. CP is amazing, what he has done with that team is incred...
but looking into the playoffs, KG is looking like an MVP (but has paul perice and ray allen on the team). LeBron is a beast, no he is unstoppable, and if you gave me a choice between starting a team off between him or kobe... Lebron HANDS DOWN. Then again CP3 is doing great... CP3 looks like an all round winner if you ask me. |

| Kobe is the best player in the world...It doesn't matter if he plays for the lakers. He has everything you can ask for a basketball player. It's fair to recognize it. You can blame him about his character or whatever you want, but when he's on the court he's one of the greatest of all time |

| I disagree. Kobe is not the best player in the league, let alone of all time. Individually, hands down, kobe is the best. But the game of basketball is played with 5 players. Kobe is loaded with one of the largest arsenals in the NBA, but until he can learn to play the game he would only be a good individual in the NBA. Please dont ever bring the word "Best" and "Of All Time" especially when we are talking about Kobe. Jordan was the best to ever touch a basketball, and the people of the Jordan era are consistently better than the players now. However, will anyone come close to Jordan or surpass him - I would have to say probably, and to me LeBron looks like a Jordan on the court - Give him a few years, maybe LBJ can come close, but Kobe is out of the question (even though the numbers seem more and more convincing). "if kobe was apart of the clippers we will be at the top of the league".... NO! Do we even remember the lakers 2 years back? |

Who deserves the MVP award?
Hmmmm? Lets see, If I was to pick this years MVP award, I would have to look at what the teams have done first.
Lakers have had the talent all along. It was a matter of confidence and just by judging the Lakers second unit
alone, I have to give credit to the Lakers as a team for their success. The second unit with Sasha/ Turaif/ Farmer have been the main reason for the Laker's success...IMHO. I don't know how many times I have seen the second unit take over when Kobe is on the bench. In fact, I have seen more games won by the second unit then the first unit this season. Gasol was the icing on the cake and those 2 reasons I just takes away from Kobe's chance of getting the trophy.
He has played great this year but you can't give someone a trophy because he changed his ways in one season. You can't give a guy the trophy when that team could still complete without him. It doesn't make sense. If you take Kobe away from the Lakers, I still see them as a play-off team. So how valuable is he?
CP3 is the heart and sole of his team. It is he that brought his team from out of the NBA cellar to the number 2 seeded team in the West in one year. They don't have a deep bench like the Lakers so you have to give him more credit for the success. Without him, the team is just an outside shooting team and nothing more. For a 3 year player, he is tearing it up in the post season like a superstar...he hasn't skipped a beat.
So if I was to take away both players from each of their teams, who would go further into the play-offs based on what we have seen so far?
I say the Lakers go further thus giving the MVP to CP3 without a doubt. |

if you take Kobe off the lakers, they are the memphis grizzlies...
I love CP3, but some of you guys really are undervaluing how good kobe is, his team this season was pretty beat up with injuries, and do not forget the guy has a finger that needs surgery... |

I don't think no one is under evaluating Kobe. Kobe is a great player on a personal level and only until now has he shown he can play with others and make them better. That is only one season. Now compare both CP3 and Kobe on their merits for THIS year and see where they compare.
The Hornets have had less to work with and have made the biggest dramatic improvement this year. You don't give it to a guy who has decided to play team ball. You give to a guy who has been playing team ball. I think most who favor Kobe are more amazed that he is able to share the ball than anything else. He didn't make the change, he was forced to. The players around him have been good all along, he was just forced to play the way he should have because of his statements before the season started. He gave in to that type of play.
For a guy to throw his GM & bynum under the bus and to find out Kupchack had been right all along doesn't deserve to get the MVP in MHO.
He deserves a nice serving of crow. |

Tyson Chandler vs. Andrew Bynum half the season / Pau Gasol for 25 (approx?) games - edge goes to LA, but not by too much.
Peja vs. Radmonovich - both 3 point specialists, Peja gets the nod here.
D West v. Lamar - Odom is wildly inconsistent, David West was an all star. D West wins.
Bonzi Wells/Bobby Jax (midseason trade), Jannero Pargo, MoPeete vs. Fisher, Farmar, Walton, Vujajic - Lakers take this one.
Overall, the two teams are not that different. Granted CP is amazing (see my thread I started about how good he is), he is surrounded by legitimate talent in a Center who gives you just what u need in rebounds, D and dunks, a very capable scorer in the post (and all star) and a few high percentage long range shooters who are always open for the drive and kick. I think alot of people overlook the fact that the hornets are not a bunch of scrubs.. |

sorry but i would have to disagree with you clipnasty. NOH are a bunch of scrubs, in other words I would rather have Pau Gasol around for 27 games and into the post season rather than Tyson Chandler all season. Tyson averages around 10 points, Pau is averaging 20 in 27 games and 30 in the post season (as well as opening the floor and being a far better and more versatile player).
Knowing that you just mentioned how the lakers are a good team, taking kobe out will not make them the "memphis grizzlies". That is the measuring tool of the MVP award. Take Kobe, LeBron, KG, CP3 out of their teams... how would the teams work out? how VALUABLE are these players respectively to their teams? Kobe would be last on my list, then Kevin Garnett; Cleavland and NOH would bomb without CP3 and LBJ, and considering that LBJ is in the East and has not had as strong of a season than CP3, Chris Paul does deserve the MVP award, hands down, all biases aside. |

Kobe is the best player IN THE WORLD but he isn't the most valuable player on a team this year. Those are facts. Kobe couldn't run the Hornets and make them successful as CP3 has. CP3 can go with the Lakers and they would be much better than they are now. The Lakers can get there scoring from 5 different players and CP3 can run the show. Kobe could not run the show with
the Hornets cause all they have are shooters. He would not fit well. You put CP3 anywhere and he automatically becomes the key for success but kobe can only be successful if he rakes in or pads his stats.
I will say that this year he has impressed me with becoming a team player but then again, CP3 has been doing this since he has been in the league. CP3 wins this hands down. |

| Agree to disagree Joe. I am not taking anything away from CP3, i just think calling his teammates scrubs is a little silly (scrubs do not make all star teams and win 3 point contests...) |
